Tauernblick ('Mountain View') Apartment is one of only 8 apartments in a traditionally designed alpine building. Great pride has been taken in ensuring it's the perfect place to stay on your holiday. The apartment has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living area. The wooden balcony has wonderful mountain views and is accessible from both the lounge and master bedroom. Situated at the foot of Kitzsteinhorn, Kaprun is a charming traditional mountain village with a great alpine atmosphere. Lively bars, cafes and restaurants offer traditional cozy apres ski drinking and dining in the winter months. There are a variety of shops including a huge new Intersport store as well as designer fashion shops.

About Audrey Macduff

We live in Derby in the UK and always wanted a place in the mountains, one that we could enjoy all year round. We have loved winter sports for many years and were particularly drawn to Austria. The scenery, skiing, lakes and year round activities ensures every visit is memorable. Kaprun is a lovely friendly village and it really feels like home-from-home to us.

We have skied with the whole family in Many resorts around the world but love the cosiness of Kaprun and the surrounding area.

Why Audrey Macduff chose Kaprun

We were drawn to Kaprun because of the diversity of the ski area in and around the area, the Glacier was also a big selling point because we wanted somewhere snow-sure. The idea of skiing in the morning in the summer and swimming in the lake or golfing in the afternoon really appealed to us.

Austria really does offer unspoilt Alpine mountain villages and scenery. Kaprun in particular has an endearing alpine atmosphere with lively bars, cafés and great restaurants. There is so much to do and my whole family enjoy visiting in both the summer and the winter.

The accommodation is really spacious, we have both spent many a ski holiday in cramped apartments in France, buying in Austria was an obvious choice.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is really light and airy, the village centre is a quick and easy walk. We have taken great care to make sure guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay.

There is always something going on in Kaprun, it is lively but charming place to holiday. Not only do we go to ski but we also use the apartment as a base to explore, we have watched World Cup skiing, Snow Board Cross, Bobsleigh/Bob-Skeleton World Cup races, and Mountain Bike Championships all within easy driving distance from the apartment.

Outside: There is a communal childrens play area to the side of the apartment building. Also a wooden balcony, car parking (underground and overground). Utility Room: Communal ski storage room, store/drying room with coin operated washing machine and clothes dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided. Cleaning is included in the price. Other: The open plan living area has a large dining table which seats 6 people. The large patio door opens up onto the balcony.

Super apartment in a great location

We stayed in the apartment for our 2 week summer holiday during August 2017. It was clean and very spacious - perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage boys.The lounge/kitchen/dining room was lovely to sit and relax in.

Being directly next to the Billa supermarket was an added bonus. It was even open on Sundays (although this might have been just because it was the summer months). We popped across most mornings to get pastries and fresh bread for our sandwiches that day.

It was in a good position to get into central Kaprun easily (5 to 10 minutes walk) where we enjoyed many excellent meals out. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from.

It was also a good area to be based as we enjoyed so many varied days out. The Krimml waterfalls was one of our favourites (an hour's drive away) and also the Hochgebirgsstauseen reservoir (just up the road). Beautiful scenery all around.

We also enjoyed mini-golf, the summer toboggan run, a trip into Salzburg, the Kitzsteinhorn and walks through gorges. The only disappointing thing was that we were all keen to hire bikes but all the hire shops in Kaprun had sold out - maybe everyone books them up in advance?

All in all a great holiday that we'd recommend to anyone.

A great week, in a great apartment.

We (2 adults and 2 children - 10/12) stayed recently in this clean, perfect apartment, ideally placed for skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. The owner, Audrey, was really helpful prior to our booking and provided all the information we needed to ensure that the location and ski access was what we were looking for.

The apartment is situated a few minutes walk from the ski bus stop. These start at 8am and are plentiful, every 15/20 mins or so. We were a little worried that being towards the end of the route we would have trouble getting on. But this didn't happen as buses came along frequently.

The apartment itself is part of a building with enclosed parking, bin area (easily accessed) and really good washing facilities on the ground floor. The apartment was perfect for what we needed. Two bedrooms, one with twin beds for the children and an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area. TV and DVDs were good for the evening and playing back our videos from the days. The kitchen hob worked really well and fridge/freezer had a lot of storage.There was a bathroom and a separate toilet which was useful, while trying to get out in the morning.

The apartment also had a storage closet and underfloor heating, which can be controlled by room thermostats, if you needed to heat separate rooms. Very useful for drying.

The apartment building has a really good lift, when moving bags/skis etc up and down.

The children liked to spend 20 minutes each day playing on the swing and slide, which could be seen from our balcony.

The view from the balcony is of the outskirts of Kaprun (as we were at the top end), the road and supermarket which is 30 seconds from the apartment, but the snow covered mountains and glacier are breathtaking. The presence of the supermarket was perfect. Being self catering and not having a car, it was very easy to stock up for the week and each day. Also, there isn't any noise from the supermarket car parking either, as it wasn't that busy. Made things very easy and didn't really spoil the view.

Kaprun centre is a nice ten minute walk where there are a variety of bars and restaurants. We ate out a couple of times and there was a good variety of places.

Although there wasn't any snow in the town on our visit, i'm sure that it would be look fantastic.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the apartment. It made our stay really enjoyable and easy! We would return.

A fantastic apartment close to the slopes!

This is a fantastic apartment close to the slopes and within walking distance of the town centre. Parking is convenient either at the top of the block or in an underground car park and a lift helps you get all your luggage down to the flat. You enter into a warm and welcoming environment with everything you need for an enjoyable stay, the flat was very clean and tidy and well maintained. We have 3 kids and the owner put an extra bed in the second bedroom which worked really well for us, equally it could have been in the living room for an older kid. The beds were comfortable and nicely furnished and rooms well kitted out with wardrobes and draws. The kitchen was clean and has everything you need to be able to cater for an entire week if you want to keep the costs down and the Billa supermarket is incredibly convenient across the road, it is also well stocked. All bedding and towels were provided which made our travel so much easier, meant the car was less packed. The road outside gives great access to the glacier up the road, the beginners slope and also the Masikogel, without creating noise that disturbs you. This is our second year in Kaprun and we returned because of the ease with which the kids have learnt to ski, whilst we have managed to get 6/7 hours of skiing ourselves. Nowhere else would provide the same ski package, we paid for lunch and the kids were looked after from 9am to 3/4pm, with a good learning slope and nice progression on the Maiskogel and then the Glacier, we've been really happy with it. The town has a really nice feel to it with a good range of restaurants, bars and ski shops. We would happily recommend this apartment to both friends and family.

We stayed for 4 months and loved every minute!

We did the ski season and stayed at this fab apartment. It was home from home and I couldn't find a single thing wrong (not that I was looking!) It was super clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs. We had a house full of stuff with us and there was pleanty of room. The beds are SUPER comfy and everyone who came to stay slept like babies. The wifi signal is excellent as well as all the plumbing and heating. The balcony was lovely to sit and have our breakfast on with a lovely view of the Glacier. The Supermarket is just downstairs which couldn't be more convenient.

There is an excellent bus service to all the local slopes as well as the Glacier. Kaprun has some fab restaurants and the ski system works with excellent efficiency. We miss it very much and I hope we will go back soon!

Kaprun 24.03.-02.04.2018

Wir hatten uns sehr kurzfristig entschlossen, doch Urlaub über o.g. Zeitraum wieder in Kaprun zu machen. Wir wollten allerdings unseren Sohn mitnehmen und haben daher eine Ferienwohnung gesucht.

Der Kontakt und die Kommunikation waren hervorragend und zeitnah, die Wohnung war wie beschrieben und gut ausgestattet. Die Lage ist sehr gut, es besteht eine Einkaufsmöglichkeit direkt gegenüber. Parkplatz und Tiefgarage sind vorhanden. Es ist super ruhig und der Skibus hält fast vor der Tür. Mit einem Wort - perfekt!

Lieben Dank nochmal und wir überlegen uns das nächstes Jahr gerne wieder.

The wide perfectly prepared slopes in the centre of Kaprun complete with carpet lift and kids park will ensure children from the age of three can make the most of their Alpine adventure. For little ones too young to ski there's a play kindergarten and specialist childcare.

The famous Tauern Spa in Kaprun is a stunning indoor and outdoor luxury spa complex suitable for all ages.

Lake Zell

In the summer the lovely outdoor (lido) pool and grassy area right next to the lake is a great way to enjoy the sunshine. In the summer there really is no end to the activities on the lake, whether it's swimming, pedaloes a boat trip or canoeing. Children will certainly come away with a new experience from a holiday in Kaprun, whether it's pony trekking, or even hiking with Lamas.

Golf:The Golf Club in Kaprun is the biggest and arguably one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Alps. The two immaculate 18 hole courses nestle in the sunny Salzach Valley. Non members are very welcome.

The club welcomes to the visitors to enjoy their flawless greens, perfectly primed fairways, and unparalleled picturesque mountain scenery.

The 'Schmittenhöhe' and 'Kitzsteinhorn' courses, named for the local mountains of the region, make up the largest golf resort of the Austrian Alps. This mixture of sporting challenges and a varied landscape has attracked the likes of Greg Norman or Steve Ballesteros.

Since 1993 Bernhard Langer from Germany has been holding the course record on Schmittenhöhe with 66 shots. On this course (Par 72, SSS 72), men play over a distance of 6,218 metres, ladies have 750 metres less to master. At Kitzsteinhorn (Par 73, SSS 72), it is a question of moving the ball across 6.146 metres, for the ladies it's 5,421 metres.

There are 13 other quality golf courses within an hour’s drive of Kaprun.

Cycling: whether its steep and technical single track cycling or hiring a bike for a leisurely scenic ride on wide open tracks, you won't be disappointed by what Kaprun has to offer.

Walking: with over 80 hiking trails and walking paths surrounded by amazing mountain scenery Kaprun is perfect for advanced hiking enthusiasts or those who prefer a gentle stroll.

Hang-gliding & para-gliding:The region is renowned as one of the best long range flight areas around for both pro & beginner gliders.

Climbing:The 'Rettenwand' has 70 different routes of varying degrees of difficulty or there is also the 30 challenging routes of the 'Gletscherseeplatte'.

Nearby Lake Zell offers all kinds of waterbased activity: swiming, windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, kayaking

Kaprun is located 80km from Salzburg, 140km from Innsbruck, 176km from Munich and 413km from Vienna.


The 135km of slopes and beautiful vistas of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier makes it the largest glacial ski area in Europe. At 3,000 meters this is one of the few resorts in Europe that really has a thriving year-round ski season.


The Maiskogel is the little brother to the mighty Kitzsteinhorn. This family mountain with its gently ascending slopes is ideal for beginners to enjoy the long sweeping descents which end up in the center of Kaprun.


The nearby Schmittenhohe mountain in Zell Am See offers long tree lined descents and numerous secluded mountain restaurants and inns. Take in the panoramic views whilst you enjoy great food, wine and cheese with friendly Austrian hospitality.

Just 30 mins drive is Saalbach and Hinterglemm offering 200km of further ski slopes to explore. Kitzbühel is also under an hours drive away so you can visit or time your holiday to coincide with the highlight of the World Cup calendar, the Hahnenkamm race!

Stay tax £1.30 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 14 years.

Booking Notes:
Bookings are usually taken Saturday to Saturday, however do contact us to enquire about short breaks. A non refundable deposit of £200 is required to secure the booking. 50% payment will be taken on booking. The final balance plus a security deposit of £200 is due 90 days prior to arrival. The security deposit is refundable pending inspection from our management company.
We are required to charge Austrian tourist tax of 1.30 per person per night (over 14yrs).

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually a Saturday but shorter breaks are possible on request. Arrival is after 3pm and departure times is 10am - we are able to offer flexibility in some instances.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
