Argaka is an unspoilt Cypriot village situated between the sea and the mountain slopes. It is home to many fine restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and pockets. Argaka has a sandy beach with clear warm sea. Views of the sunset over the Akamas Peninsula are outstanding. The tavernas are welcoming and very good value and there are two small supermarkets. About 10 minutes drive from the apartment lies the small town of Polis with its attractive main square where it is a pleasure to linger with a cool drink and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The town offers many restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a bank, post office, pharmacy, hairdresser and many interesting shops. Just a few kilometres further west is the small town of Latchi with its attractive harbour and well known restaurants serving a wide choice of food including many varieties of freshly caught fish. There is a water sports centre and boat hire.

Not the best we have stayed in

Great location, 5 mins drive to resturants and supermarket, although there was some road noise. The private beach has lots of large stones to walk over to get into the sea. There are around 20 villas on the complex so the pool areas are overlooked by several other villas which are quite close together. The villa was very clean and the proerty manager left a really good welcome pack with bread and milk etc. There is only 6 towels and no pool towels so it is difficult to wash towels and have towels to use (the washer is not a washer dryer). The matresses and pillows are not comfortable and the bedroom curtains are very thin so you will be up as soon as soon as it is light, unless the neighbours use the pool area at night and their outside lights come on then sudenly it's daytime in your bedroom. The main problem (although this probably only effects the villa we were in) is that there is a sewerage treatment plant on site and this located around 3M from the pool and outside seating area. We arrived at 7pm on the Wednesday and there was no pumping noise, all day Thursday was the same but on Friday morning we woke to a droning noise. We went outside and there was a terrible smell, the outside area was unusable. I contacted the property manager and he was quick to say he would come round and take a look. Once he came round the smell had eased and was intermittent although the pump was still running and in my opinion too loud to be this close to a villa. The droning noise was the sewerage pump and the smell the was sewerage. The propety manager said he would look into the problem. The pumping noise was constant for the next few days and the smell was still there, I did not hear anything back from the property manager until Monday when I noticed he was onsite taking photos of another villa. I asked what was happening and he said it was difficult to do anything as it was easter weekend. He did manage to get in touch with someone and the pump was turned off but the smell was still there intermittently. Once the pump was turned off we could hear birds singing and could use the outside area. So if you book these villas just make sure you do not get the villa next to the treatment plant. The manager did what he could but we will not be back.
