This property could be fantastic with a little more care and attention to detail

We were unaware until we arrived (finally) that the property is actually on the gated golf resort, and had a few problems getting past the guard on our first night. We phoned our contact David to get him to speak to the guard so we could get in, but prior warning, and better directions would have been nice. Unfortunately most of the villas surrounding this one are deserted and over-grown which is good for privacy but not ideal. The resort is about 10 minutes outside of Palmela, which is a charming town with stunning castle and outlook, and 20 minutes from Setubal, a large conurbation but with very good choice of restaurants. The coastal road from Setubal towards Sesimbra (lovely seaside town) is through a national park and has magnificent beaches where mostly Portugese like to sunbathe. The area as a whole was fantastic - not touristy at all and not a post card in sight. Over-all the accommodation could have been perfect - it is large and spacious but needs more information provided (up front and in the villa), better towels and linen, and a clean and better equipped kitchen. The pool is nice, but could do with better access and a decking or patio area to be able to make full use of it as a family. Small touches would have made all the difference.
