Updated: 28-Nov-2016
Apartment sleeps 6 with private steps down to chine with direct access to Beach

Newly refurbished (July 2015) Beach Holiday Apartment, only a few minutes walk down private steps to the stunning Alum Chine beach which has once again been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award for its world class pristine golden sands, excellent water quality and safe bathing.

The Moorings has two double bedrooms, one with a King size bed and the other with two single beds and a double sofa bed in the lounge. The Apartment offers all the modern conveniences and, as it has all been recently replaced, everything is in perfect order with a brand new kitchen and shower room. From the balcony as well as being able to see the sea, there are also amazing views over the tree tops of the famous chine.

It is ideally situated, making it the perfect base to explore the area by car or bike, such as the world famous Jurassic coast and the beaches and heathlands of Studland bay, only a short ferry ride away. For the more active holiday makers, water sports and golf facilities are within easy reach. For the families with young children Alum Chine has a wonderful play area and fresh water paddling pool right next to the lovely beach. The apartment lies within a twenty minute walk along the promenade to Bournemouth pier or 5 minutes if you catch the noddy train to all the attractions of Bournemouth town centre including fabulous shopping, restaurants and bars. A ten minute stroll up the tree lined chine takes you to Westbourne village again offering quaint shops, good restaurants and bars as well as a Marks and Spencer food hall, a Tesco express, a butchers and bakers etc. Heading West along the promenade will take you to the stunning Sandbanks beach with all its water sports and recently opened Rick Stein's latest restaurant amongst others.

Cycling along the promenade is permitted all year round except in the summer months July 1st to 30th September it is restricted to before 9am and after 6pm the perfect way to explore Studland. We have excellent transport links: 20 minutes from Hurn airport, frequent train links to and from London Waterloo (1.3 miles to Branksome station, 1.9 miles to Bournemouth station), National express from Victoria to Bournemouth train station every day and of course good road links with the M3, M27 down to the south coast.

This property is not suitable for Hen or Stag weekends as it is located in a quiet residential area with neighbours in close proximity.

Lovely weekend, highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely few days here in November at the Moorings. From start to finish on booking and arriving it was all so easy. Owner replied within a very short space of time, which is always a bonus I feel. Apartment was warm and inviting and couldn't ask for anything more really in it. Apartment is situated in a ideal position and 5 mins from the sea. Has two local bars and restaurants within walking distance, which was nice if you didn't want to walk into the main town. We were lucky with the weather, so walked miles and loved it all. Lastly I have to mention the lemon drizzle cake.. AMAZING!!!! We had ours with custard which was even better.

So thank you Helen and Martin for a lovely few days away and sure we will be back for another stay.

Linda and family

Beautiful apartment, excellent location for the beach

  • 4 of 5

Booked a weeks' stay at the end of July. Easy to arrange booking and were given directions etc in plenty of time prior to arriving. I wasn't sure what to make of the property from the outside as it looked like it needed abit of TLC. However i'm not sure if all of the apartments are privately owned and/or holiday lettings. Do not let what I've said about the exterior of the building put you off because once inside the apartment (The Moorings) it is beautiful. It has a light airy feel and is tastefully decorated. Plenty of space in the bedrooms and living room. All the rooms were spotless. My only criticism (and its a very small one!!) is that the kitchen is a bit on the small side but it does have everything you need in it. As we ate out most of the time and I didn't do a lot of cooking it wasn't a problem. The location of the apartment is perfect for the beach which is within walking distance, fantastic when all your 7 year old wants to do is build sandcastles. You don't have to worry about finding a parking space it really is that close!! The owners leave a folder with some recommendations of things to do and places to eat. It's a very ggod base for exploring the local area. We visited Salisbury, Stonehenge, Poole to name a few. I mustn't forget to mention the lemon cake which was left out for us on arrival. Yummy!!. It's the little touches like that which would make me book again if coming back to Bournemouth. I would recommend it to family and friends.

Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomes at the Moorings with a delicious lemon cake and super clean flat. Coming from the Philippines, the British summer for us was quite chilly so being able to stay in a a warm clean place was a great blessing. With great attention to detail this place had everything we needed; an abundance of towels, sheets, blankets and duvets. Our children found it very cozy. We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a modern clean home from home (assuming that your home is also modern and clean ;-)

Thank you Helen and Martin.

Fantastic location, stunning apartment, will definitely return again 😀

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Bournemouth several times in the last 5 or 6 years but this property/location is by far the best we have chosen.

Firstly the apartment is stunning, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. A proper home from home. Location is great just a few minutes to the beach, and a lovely park near beach which was great for my 2 little ones. Took about 25 mins to walk into Bournemouth along the promenade. Also similar amount of time to walk into Westbourne village which has the most beautiful highstreet, great little eateries and independent shops to mooch around.

On arrival we had a gorgeous lemon cake and fresh flowers to welcome us which was a lovely touch. I think we devoured the lemon cake in less than 24 hours 😋

All in all a great place to stay and I would recommend to everyone

Thanks for having us

Owner's Response: Hi Lisa Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. I am happy you managed to explore Westbourne Village which has so many lovely shops and restaurants and a wonderful undercover Victorian Arcade ideal if the weather is a little unsettled. Alum Chine Beach of course is just a few minutes walk which means there is absolutely no need to use the car. For those who do not fancy the 25 minutes walk to Bournemouth along the promenade there is a bus that takes you into the centre at the end of the road or the noddy train that runs along the prom every 40 minutes or so. Thank you for re-booking, we look forward to welcoming you and your family again next year. Kind regards Helen
