About the Owner

My parents bought the house in the early seventies and and for nearly 40 years it has been a holiday house for our families and for our friends to enjoy and this is what we seek to continue.

Simple, clean accommodation, perfect for walking, amazing location

  • 5 of 5

Our family had s lovely time in middle cottage. We could walk straight out from the front door and there are footpaths in every direction. Bakewell, stepping stones, Ashbourne, Buxton and chatsworth are all accessible. Cottage is simple but everything you need is there and it's very clean. We would definitely go back. Thanks jo.

Charmed by this house

  • 5 of 5

We were charmed by this house the minute we walked in! Wooden beams, old solid furniture, plenty seating for all the family.

Kitchen very well equipped, plates, dishes, pans, utensils- every thing you need and then some!!

Beds were all very comfy- master bedroom was fab.

So much space for everyone without being on top of each other!

The children loved all the toys and dvd's that were there!

Easy or difficult walk down into Dovedale depending on choice of path!!

Thank you jo- we had a fab time!! Xx

Lovely well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and peaceful little village and a lovely old cottage with lots of character. A family group of us stayed with the youngest being 13 months and the oldest 87 and it was perfect. Very well equipped too, and clean.

Middle House Thorpe

  • 5 of 5

We had not visited the Peak District before and found that there where excellent walks in the area around the cottage. The cottage was very well equipped

and we had a very pleasant week - even the weather was good.

We had 2 very good meals at the Okeover Arms.

I would certainly recommend the cottage and I hope to return for another holiday in the future.

Just Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this house several times and think it is wonderful. It's exactly as an old stone farmhouse should be - cosy and comfortable and offering everything you need for a pleasant, uncomplicated stay in the countryside.

The area has much to offer as well. There are of course beautiful walks in the dales, but we like mixing this by visiting the pretty towns, villages and stately homes in the area. To treat the kids we always rent bikes and get out on to one of the cycle routes like the Tissington Trail and of course a day out at the nearby Alton Towers also always goes down well.
