Everything you need for a relaxing break in the sun
Our apartment is situated five minutes walk from the nearest mini market; ten minutes walk from the nearest supermarket (Aldi) and restaurants and a short drive to the new club house at Baviera Golf. There is a retail park and aqua park ten minutes drive away. A chemist, bakery, banks and other shops and amenities are also within a 10 minute walk.
If you like strolling along an attractive and lively promenade, stopping off in little tavernas and watching local fishermen cook sardines over hot coals, then Caleta de Velez is the ideal destination for you.
We are about 35 minutes from Malaga airport; 15 minutes drive from Nerja; an hour away from Granada and Marbella and about an hour from the Sierra Nevada ski resort. We literally do have an enviable position in a town that hasn't lost its spanish charm or character.

We are a professional couple with a six year old son. The apartment holds many happy memories for us from teaching him to swim in the lovely swimming pool to cooking on the bbq whilst watching the sun go down over the mountains.
We are based in the UK but enjoy the culture and ambience of Caleta; trying to visit as often as we possibly can. Interesting times to visit are during the Feria season - information relating to each town's ferias can be found online.

Why A Jones chose Axarquia (Costa del Sol)
We didn't want to buy somewhere that was overpopulated with English people and believe our urbanisation has the balance just right. A range of nationalities both live and hold holiday homes here and we have made many good friends over the years.
Having looked at a range of properties along the coast before we bought, we felt La Almijara de Baviera was the best. It is immaculately kept with well maintained lawns and communal areas including a paddle tennis court and small play area for children. The graduated pool means that non swimmers and swimmers of all abilities can cool off in the sun.
It is near enough to beaches and bars, yet a short walk away so you can have some much needed peace and quiet if you want it. The resort is particularlychild friendly, something we'd not ever considered before starting a family. Different generations of a family will spend time together round the pool, dining, strolling along the prom and they really do welcome children.

Would be a good place for golfers as on golf complex.
The flat is situated on a pleasant golf complex, but takes 20 minutes to walk to the beach. It is a nice flat , but unfortunately does not get any sun in the winter months which makes it cold.
One bedroom was quite damp when we arrived and the second bathroom although recently repaired was not flushing properly.
We tried to use the air conditioning for heating, but only cold air came out. I have used air conditioning before, but could not make it work. The 2 radiators provided are not enough to heat the whole flat during the winter and there were no extra blankets for the bed.
We did enjoy our stay, but feel that some redecoration and maintenance would be a good idea before next season.

Thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks here. Accommodation was good, clean and spacious. Washing machine a boon, arrived home with no washing to do. Keyholder Donna was helpful and available. Recommend to anyone. Caletta a charming place. Never eaten such extremely fresh fish at such low prices anywhere else in Spain.
Nice apartment only a short walk to beach
Apartment was nicely laid out on a quiet and well looked after complex with a pool which always had a lifeguard on duty. It was easy to find from the Airport, just off of one of the main junctions but far enough away from the noise. Aldi was a short walk away, there was a welcome pack on arrival which was handy, Donna the key holder was waiting for us to arrive and was available if you had any problems. We stayed in September which is just outside the main holiday season so we enjoyed some long walks along the beach which was not that busy.
We hope to go back next September
Home from home with sun and a pool!
Where do I start? Just returned from a weeks break where my eldest son turned 18. Our party was myself, eldest son, his girlfriend and our 5 year old son. Angela was the perfect owner, on hand by email to answer queries about travel and facilities and Donna the perfect caretaker, meeting us at the apartment to show us round and on hand should anything pop up. We wanted for nothing the whole trip, the facilities in the apartment were spot on from hairdryer to washing machine and DVD player for the little fella to watch while we showered etc. We didn't need an air con top up while there and the place was lovely and cool.
Nearby were restaurants, supermarkets and a fab shopping mall a short drive away, we hired a car with Malaga Car and were able to bob about as we pleased for a week. Sad to be home to overcast humidity and would definitely recommend the apartment and stay again.

Clean, excellent pool, close to town centre, family friendly
The apartment looked exactly as it did in the photos and was very clean. We didn't eat in but the kitchen is very well equipped. The pool area was clean and well looked after with a life guard there from 11am to 9pm. Pool was very child friendly with a gate and also a large shallow area. Ten min walk to the town centre. The caretaker Donna also picked us up from the airport and took us back which was brilliant as we didn't want to hire a car. Excellent!
Beautiful apartment, excellent facilities and amenities within a very well maintained complex.
Had a fantastic 12 night stay in Angela's apartment with my husband and 2 young daughters. The apartment itself was spacious and very well equipped and the pool, gardens and play park were immaculately maintained. The complex had a lovely community feel but was also very peaceful and quiet. The town of Caleta itself was an easy 10 min walk away down a very slight hill (a bit of an effort on the way back with our 2 lazy girls in a double buggy, but without would have been fine) which we found to be charming with lovely authentic bars and restaurants and a beautifully kept beach and promenade. We regularly walked along the lovely promenade (about 30mins) into Torre del Mar which we loved with its plentiful beach bars, restaurant's and ice cream parlours. Lots of children's play parks and kids rides along the front to keep the kids entertained too. For those not as mobile or keen to walk in the heat there were lots of taxis and bus services running between the towns too. Angela was fantastic to deal with extremely helpful in her advice, along with her key holder who helped us arrange airport transfers, arranged some welcome groceries for our late arrival and assisted us in our late checkout. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment and definitely hope to return again in the future.

Activity and Interests
The local area has a lovely promeade where locals rollerblade, cycle and run each morning to keep fit. There is a local gym 10 mins walk away; monthly / pay as you go memberships are available from about 25 euros per month.
There is the opportunity for fishing and taking boat trips as the town has a small marina and is still a thriving fishing port.
In Sierra Nevada - about 45mins to an hour's drive away - there is an established ski resort which boasts excellent conditions and a range of runs for all abilities. There is also a well established ski school for novices or those wishing to improve their skills.
10mins walk away towards the beach you will find an established hair dresser and beauty salon 'La Belezza' offering pampering treats and a trilingual masseuse a few doors away from the salon.
For keen golfers, the immaculately kept Baviera Golf course is on your doorstep - check their website for buggy and green fee deals throughout the year. Designed by Jose Maria Canizares, it is an ideal course for any handicap. The new club house boasts a variety of services on offer and the fabulous restaurant is often used for celebrating special birthdays and weddings.
Shopaholics will enjoy the El Ingenio complex a short drive / taxi ride away and slightly further afield - about 15 minutes - there is the bustling town of Nerja with more shops or the Rincon de la Victoria retail complex. If you prefer to purchase locally grown produce, then the weekly market (Saturdays in Caleta) won't disappoint.
Health and Welfare
There is a medical centre and hospital in the vicinity - details can be obtained locally from our key holder. The nearest well-stocked pharmacy is about a ten minute walk away. It's usually open late most nights.
If you take the bus from neighbouring Torre del Mar bus station you're able to visit Granada, Malaga city, Puerto Banus and Nerja for a few euros. Nerja offers numerous attractions including the caves, donkey sanctuary, Burriana and Torrecilla beaches and the famous Balcon de Europa.
In Almunecar - approximately 45 mins drive away - there is a watermark, bonsai museum and archeological museum amongst it's attractions.
If you're a water-baby, the Aquavelis water park in Torre del Mar is only 10 mins drive away from our apartment and provides a great day out. Cheaper rates apply after 3pm (low season) and 4pm (high season) so you can enjoy a few hours for a reduced price when it's quieter. New rides have opened for the 2015 season and there are always special offers to be found online.
We don't always hire a car when we visit but when we do it's to explore further afield. To save money from some of the bigger companies at the airport, we use Caleta Car Hire based in the town - excellent rates and a wide choice of vehicles if you want to explore.

If transfers are required, theses are payable locally but we give you those details as well before flying and guests can make contact before they fly for peace of mind. Throughout the stay our key holder is contactable in the case of any emergency or query. If transfers aren't required, our key holder will meet guests on arrival at the apartment. Contact details are swapped prior to departure for peace of mind. A list of popular restaurants, local taxi firms etc can be found in the apartment for guests to refer to.
