About the property

4 bedroom, 2 bath/shower room house; separate kitchen/dining room and lounge

This house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac of 6 stone houses. Adjoining 'Volets Blancs' is a smaller cottage which we also own and where we often stay in the summer months when 'Volets Blancs' is occupied by paying guests. If we are not there at the time of their stay, guests are welcome to use its adjoining garden to which there is direct access.

Completely renovated 10 years ago, the house is light and airy and furnished in modern style.

Well insulated, there is heating by individual electric radiators in all rooms. (The wood-burning stove is not available for use by paying guests and should not, of course, be needed in the months when the house is available for letting.)

Hot water is provided by an electric boiler.

Overall the house is 160m2 in size and all bedrooms are double-bedroom size. It is large enough to accommodate 2 families (4 adults and 4 children) who wish to share a holiday home.

About David and Linda Compton

We are English residents who both speak French (Linda fluently), having both studied French at university (a long time ago!).

As French speakers and francophiles, we decided to buy our own holiday 'retreat' in Normandy in 2000. This was the smaller cottage.

In 2004 we purchased the larger adjoining house, 'Volets Blancs', and completely renovated it. We have used these houses as holiday homes for ourselves and our family, ignoring our initial intention to let the larger one as a gite. Now that our children and grandchildren are restricted to school holidays, it seems sensible to revert to our original plan and let 'Volets Blancs'. We are sure that you will love it as much as we do.

'Volets Blancs' is in a quiet, rural setting but allows quick and easy access to vast sandy beaches, where you can throw a frisbee, get out the boules or pitch your cricket stumps, as well to several bustling seaside resorts within 20 minutes drive.

There are many places to visit within an hour's drive and Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches can be visited on a longer day's outing.

What makes this house unique

In summary, the house's location allows guests to enjoy rural, beach and seaside activities and there are many interesting places to visit within one hour by car. The countryside and coastline in this part of Normandy are very beautiful. Food and other shopping is close at hand, as are several bars and restaurants.

Fantastic property

Volet blanc is a wonderful property,with everything you need.Loverly garden area with gas bbq and plenty of chairs to relax in.House is in perfect condition,only criticism would be lacking a dishwasher,However my husband did a good job!!Linda and David are very nice and helpful people,hope to come back soon. Mr et Mme Compthon sont des personnes très agréables, accueillantes et disponible.

Leur propriété est idéale pour un séjour en famille.

Cette propriété est dans un hameau calme et reposant. Idéale pour se ressourcer.

La demeure en elle même possède tous les éléments dont vous avez besoin ( Barbecue éléctrique, lave linge, séche linge, télé, jeux de société pour les enfants...).

Un vrai confort

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cette belle et grande maison, qui nous offert tout le confort et l'espace nécessaires pour passer joyeusement cette quinzaine en famille avec quatre petits. Très bel environnement , jardin complètement sécurisé, tranquilité absolue. Située dans un joli hameau et pourtant proche des plages!! nous avons été ravis par ce séjour en Normandie . Linda et David nous ont assuré le meilleur des accueils , ils sont absolument charmants . A recommander...

Un gite charmant et agréable

Le gîte est un vrai bijou. La décoration est de très bon goût et fidèle aux photos. Les propriétaires sont très accueillants, très gentils et discrets. Ils ont pensé à tout plein de petits détails pratiques qui vous rendent le séjour encore plus agréable.

Le hameau et les villages alentour sont très authentiques. Dragey est bien situé pour une semaine nous avons pu faire Saint Malo, le Nez de Jobourg au nord du Cotentin et bien sûr la baie. Nous vous conseillons l'écurie du bec pour une virée à cheval ainsi que l'écomusée de la baie. Bon séjour aux volets blancs !

The owners are very welcoming, very kind and discreet. They have paid attention to small practical details which make your stay even more enjoyable. The hamlet and its surrounding villages are very genuine. Dragey is well located: we were able to visit St. Malo and the Nez de Jobourg in the north of the Cotentin peninsula as well as the Mont St. Michel Bay area. We can recommend l'Ecurie du Bec for a trek on horseback and also l'Ecomusée de la Baie. Enjoy a stay at Volets Blancs! Owners' response: Thank you for your favourable review.
