Stunning views - modern accommodation - peaceful but convenient location

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Dec-2016

Firth Cottage is a pretty semi-detached cottage situated in tranquil wooded grounds in the hamlet of Alcaig on the Black Isle.

Firth cottage features stunning views of the Cromarty Firth with the mountains Easter Ross beyond from the large open-plan living area. It's a view which is constantly changing with the tide and light. The tidal Firth is a haven for wildlife and ospreys can be seen most days in the summer months from the cottage fishing over the Firth and in the winter thousands of geese can be seen.

The cottage is spotlessly clean, modern, well-equipped and peaceful.

There are 2 bedrooms that can sleep a maximum 4 people. It has a very spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washer-dryer machine, gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. Of the 2 bedrooms, one contains a King Size bed while the other has 2 twin beds. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

The lounge has a TV with Freeview, a DVD Player with a selections of DVDs, a CD/Radio, games and lots of information and leaflets including our own comprehensive and unique guide to the area. There's under-floor heating throughout controlled by individually controllable thermostats in each room and a heated towel radiator in the shower room.

From the lounge, french doors open out onto the private patio area which has tables and chairs. There are shared wooded gardens that host a large amount of bird life. The cottage is located at the end of a private drive and has parking for 2 cars.

Despite the peace and quiet, the cottage is conveniently located for the town of Dingwall (3 miles away) and the Highland's capital Inverness (12 miles). It is also the perfect base for touring the Highlands being at the hub of the road network. Some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK - Glen Affric, Loch Ness, Torridon, Assynt - is less than an hour away. The Black Isle itself has historical villages like Cromarty, great beaches such as Rosemarkie and in Chanonry Poiunt has the best land location to see dolphins in the UK.

Up to 2 well-behaved pets are allowed at no extra cost.

In short, the Firth Cottage offers you the opportunity to stay in a clean, comfortable, quiet location with exceptional views and be perfectly located for the best the Highlands has to offer.

A lovely, quiet house, beautifully furnished in the most fabulous location.

  • 5 of 5

The property was very comfortable and pleasant with spectacular views along Cromarty Firth. The location was peaceful and relaxed but within easy reach of local amenities, tourist attractions and great walking country. The house was spotlessly clean, warm and well equipped. David and Amanda made us feel most welcome and were extremely helpful throughout our stay. A brilliant guide to area was provided with detailed maps and recommendations, providing useful tips about the best routes to take and the best times to visit certain areas. We spent three lovely days exploring the Black Isle and also the area around Loch Ness, it was nothing like long enough and we will have to return soon. Particularly special events were watching dolphins at Chanonry Point and salmon leaping at Rogie Falls both within an easy drive from the house.

Loved our stay here. Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic property. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of space for a family of four. So peaceful and stunning views. Great base for touring the surrounding areas, and David and Amanda provide fantastic information for guests, advising where to go to visit, places to eat etc. My husband and I visited with our 7 year old daughter and 12 year old nephew, both had a fantastic time and would love to return. I really can't fault this experience, from booking enquiry to writing this review it really has been fantastic, no complaints at all. Thank you David and Amanda for an unforgettable holiday!

Lovely cottage with incredible view

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Alcaig cottage was excellent! This cozy cottage is in immaculate condition and the hosts have thought of every detail to make the most of one's stay: We enjoyed the games and movies in the evenings, and used the hiking maps and guide books to explore the region by day. The view from the cottage onto the bay and birdlife is really special. The cottage's location is ideal for reaching a variety of Scotland's landscapes, including the mountains and coasts of the Wester Ross. We will definitely return!

Cosy Cottage and peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure to stay in this warmwelcome cottage. As we came in, we found a lovely personal card and some sweets as weclome present. Everything you need is there, the kittchen is very well equipped. The surroundings especially in the morning is perfect peaceful and calm. The bed were very comfy, the best bed we ever had in our holiday cottage. The owners are very nice people. If you plan to stay in the cottage, it is your right decision! The highland guide made our trips nearly perfect. There are lot´s of hidden gems, such as the Plodda Falls. Very gourgeous waterfall ( and a big adventure to drive the path untill you are there) The road to Apllecross is a MUST DO, it is so perfect nature and surrounding! We had luck and saw some dolphins at Chanonry Point yesterday. The restaurant nearby, http://www.sutorcreek.co.uk/ and http://theanderson.co.uk/ are highly recommended! Best pizza is the black isle pizza.

I think we will be back some day and we hope that every guest enjoys what the both offer to you! A special place for everyone

We're perfectly positioned to travel in every direction. Located on the edge of the scenic Black Isle we're minutes away from Chanonry Point, the best place to see dolphins in the UK. The Black Isle also has a range of beautiful settlements such as Cromarty and Fortrose and a great family beach at Rosemarkie.

In less than an hour you can be on the west coast with its sensational mountain scenery in places such as Torridon or Assynt.

Also to the south and around an hour away is Speyside with its huge numbers of distilleries and the Cairngorms, a fantastic place for outdoor activities such as skiing, watersports and hiking.
