About Rachael

I have lived in Saltburn for 25 years, & I love it here. It has proved a great place to bring up my 2 girls in a safe environment.

There's always something to do, whether it's building sand castles down on the beach or people watching in the square while you enjoy a latte.

And, because I live in Saltburn, I think I am well qualified to say how great the place is!

Rachael purchased this caravan in 2015

Why Rachael chose North Yorkshire

I enjoyed many holidays as a child in static caravans. So, when the opportunity came up I couldn't resist recapturing some nostalgia from those wonderful days.

Comfortable,well equipped, quiet and relaxing.

A great location for relaxing, walking and pottering around the Moors and the coastline.

The Caravan is tucked in a quiet ,sheltered sport on the site, and a real sun trap, for the day when we had to rest blistered feet!, The other van occupiers were friendly and helpful. The beech is on the door-step, great walks along the coastal paths and a short drive to the Moors.

Walking distance to the shops, pubs ,restaurants and the bus station. The Caravan had good cooking equipment and facilities, kitchen & bathroom, games and DVD's. I would recommend to others visiting this area.

At first viewing the site was ok apart from the ongoing building work!.

The area was lovely but the caravan wasnt! When we arrived the gas bottles were low on gas the heating was inadequate and the cooking facilities were poor having no working oven and only two working gas rings.

The main bedroom was supposed to be a double but clearly wasn't as the double bed took up nearly all the space plus the radiator made no difference to the room temperature being very poor.

The kids shared bedroom was very small and cramped.

The day before we were supposed to leave the power went out leaving us freezing and no way to switch the fusebox back on a phone number supplied was to be for someone to fix this but we have since been told it was an out of hours number and of no use to us, needless to say we left a day early cold and disappointed as we had some house viewings arranged which had to be cancelled and two cold and fed up kids to explain why we were going home early, needless to say we won't be going back in a hurry.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Rob. Firstly can I say once again how sorry I am that your holiday was so problematic. The comfort of my guests is very important to me. Yes, there is building work being carried out at the entrance to the park (as stated in my email), fortunately this isn't anywhere near my caravan and can't be seen or heard from there. I have 2 gas bottles so that there is ALWAYS a full bottle in reserve. At the time of your stay there was the full bottle and the other was 3/4 full. Prior to your visit they were checked & left turned on (as they always are). After you had left I noticed that the bottle had in fact been turned off? This is why the hob and oven didn't work. When the electricity is overloaded it cuts out (as is the case with caravans) and only the site can put this back on, I am sorry you didn't get a response from them. I gave you a refund, as requested - but if only you had called me whilst still at the van and not after, the gas and electricity issues would have been dealt with immediately. Caravans are known for their economical use of space- this is what makes caravanning an affordable holiday choice. So pleased that you were still able to enjoy our lovely town.

Excellent holiday in a lovely caravan.

The caravan was well appointed and clean. The bed cover in the main bedroom was particularly pretty. There was everything there you could need and it was all in good condition. Rachael was very friendly and helpful in my dealings with her and we had a lovely time. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Very clean caravan and in a nice quiet situation.

We enjoyed our stay in Saltburn. The weather was very good and we got out and about the area each day. Had never visited Saltburn before and thought it was a lovely little place. Will visit again in the future.

The only problem within the caravan was the bedrooms. Was rather a 'tight' squeeze and getting into bed proved a challenge, as did the Roman blinds in the lounge area -a nightmare!! My husband had to re attach the clips on the back of the blinds each morning (came loose when lowering them ) so we could get them up once again in the morning.

Loved the beach themed items around the caravan, and all the little extras left were very much appreciated.

It was very hot on a couple of days and an umbrella to insert into the outside table would have been helpful. Had to go indoors at times for shade - no

seats anywhere to be able to take out and site around the other side of the caravan for some shade.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased that you enjoyed Saltburn & that you had very good weather. The bench isn't too heavy & can be moved into the shade if required .But a parasol for the picnic bench is certainly a good idea. The blinds in the living area are new- I had no idea they were so problematic!

Nice, clean caravan in a quiet location.

We had a lovely time staying at the caravan in Saltburn. The Caravan is nice and clean and generally well equipped. It's not a massive caravan but it's fine for a holiday. We had a couple of problems that were outwith the owner's control but Rachael got these sorted very quickly. The caravan site doesn't have facilities at this time but it's just a short walk to the nearest convenience shop and launderette. Saltburn is absolutely lovely and I would highly recommend visiting here if you're looking for a quieter, more relaxing holiday by the sea. Lots of lovely places to eat and great wee shops. The people are very friendly.
