About the property

Sleeps from 13-19 people, plus 2 little ones

Siop y Rhos Farmhouse provides very comfortable accommodation, being newly renovated with a very large bespoke dining kitchen, and private secluded rear garden enjoying the sun all day long. The property has been recently renovated to a very high standard, and is ideal for larger families, or groups of adults who are looking for an excellent base to explore Anglesey and the nearby Snowdonia National Park.

Set in large grounds, the property can be let as one self catering unit which will sleep up to 13 people plus 2 little ones in a cot/travel cot. This property comprises a large lounge (seating up to 10 on sofas, plus additional pouffes), with french doors out into the rear garden. The prices quoted are for this unit only.

For those larger families and/or groups of people (up to 19 adults plus 2 little ones), we have additional self catering accommodation comprising 2 x double bedrooms and a twin bedroom with a shared bathroom (comprising half bath with shower over, plus wash handbasin), and a shared separate toilet with wash handbasin. There is also a large lounge with a large flat screen TV, DVD player, and HiFi. This lounge not only seats up to 15 people comfortably, but enjoys the most amazing views of Lligwy Bay. Patio doors open up from the lounge into the garden. PLEASE NOTE: You will need to contact the owners for a price for both self catering units. The price you will be quoted on this site will be for the smaller unit sleeping up to 13 adults. Refer to our Terms & Conditions if you wish to book the larger property (up to 19 persons plus 2 little ones).

The property can also be rented as a smaller unit for up to 8 persons - (see property ref: 6492137).

Sitting in beautiful location within a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Site of Special Scientific Interest, Siop y Rhos enjoys serene and peaceful surroundings overlooking Lligwy Beach. It sleeps up to 12 adults in beds, plus 1 child up to the age of 14 years in a child's bed, and 2 further little ones in a cot (max age 2.5 yrs), and/or a travel cot (max age 12 months). Guests can enjoy an excellent night's sleep with the odd sound of waves falling on the shore, or the occasional hoot of an owl, and because of the lack of light pollution access to the stars at night are a star gazers delight.

A path from the drive of the house provides a lovely scenic short walk to Lligwy Beach, and a second path from the rear of the property also allows for a short walk to the Pilot Boat Pub which caters for families, walkers, etc., and serves draught beer in a lovely location overlooking Dulas Estuary.

Llyn Blodyn Fishery is a 2 acre coarse fishing lake, which is even closer than the beach to Siop y Rhos. A day ticket here will see you catching Carp, Tench, Rudd, Golden Rudd and Roach - simply turn up and pay on the lakeside.

The Retreat enjoys a large fully secure and private rear garden for your sole use. The garden is south facing and benefits from the sun all day. There is ample outdoor furniture, with a large gas BBQ, a Pizza Oven and Smoker, and a gazebo for your use.

In brief the accommodation comprises a ground floor lounge and extensive dining kitchen, 3 x first floor bedrooms and 2 x first floor bathrooms as follows:

Ground Floor:

Porch entrance leading to the lounge.

Lounge with a multi-fuel log burner fire set in an inglenook fireplace, a large flatscreen TV, DVD player, HiFi, WiFi access, etc., and 2 very large sofas comfortably seating over 10 people, with extra seating on pouffes. It has French Windows leading straight into the fully enclosed private rear garden which benefits from the sun all day long. Stairs from the lounge lead up to the first floor bedrooms and bathrooms.

Extensive dining kitchen can be reached through a door from the lounge. It comes extremely well equipped and with a bespoke banqueting style dining table and bespoke bench seating for up to 19 adults, high gloss white units, a 8 hob gas range cooker with 2 large ovens and a separate grill, microwave oven, large dishwasher, washing machine, 2 x fridges and a freezer, toaster, kettle, etc.

Ground Floor:

Bedroom 1 is located on the ground floor and has a double bed, with built in cupboard, bedside tables, chest of drawers, wall mounted flat screen TV, and a cot.

Bedroom 2 is located on the ground floor and is reached through Bedroom 1. Bedroom 2 comprises a triple seater, (double bed at the bottom and single bunk over).

There is a shared bathroom for these 2 x ground floor bedrooms which comprises an electric power shower, toilet, and wash handbasin.

On the First Floor there are 3 further bedrooms.

Bedroom 3 enjoys beautiful sea and garden views, and has a double bed, with a single large child's bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lighting to the double bed, and a wall mounted flat screen TV. Bedroom 3 also enjoys an En-Suite Bathroom comprising a walk-in power shower, toilet and wash hand basin.

Bedroom 4 enjoys beautiful sea and garden views, and has a double bed, cupboard, hanging space, bedside tables and lighting, and wall mounted flat screen TV.

Bedroom 5 enjoys rear garden and distant countryside views and has a triple sleeper comprising double futon style bottom bunk, with a single adult bunk bed over. It has a chest of drawers with lighting, a cupboard, hanging space and a wall mounted flatscreen TV.

Separate Bathroom comprising a walk-in power shower, toilet and wash hand basin. Bedrooms 2 & 3 share this bathroom.

Large rear garden reached via the French Windows from the lounge, and/or through the dining kitchen. It enjoys the sun all day long, and has a patio area and seating for up to 19 adults, and a large gas BBQ. The garden is completely private and not overlooked, and provides a safe and secure area for children.

Ample parking is provided with space for up to 4 cars, plus the added availability for boat storage if required (speak to the owners prior to booking to ensure this facility is available for the dates you are looking for).

Please note that a small remaining part of the farmhouse is a private one bedroom home for the owners', and/or their family who occasionally stay at Siop y Rhos.

The owners, Catherine & Steven, extend you their invitation and warm welcome here at Siop y Rhos, which is a superb base to explore the beautiful Isle of Anglesey (most places can be reached within 30 mins), and yet the Snowdonia National Park is only 16 miles away. Siop y Rhos is a friendly, warm & inviting home set in spacious grounds in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Lligwy Beach, arguably one of the best beaches here on Anglesey, can be reached down a footpath from the front garden of Siop y Rhos - during peak periods live music is played in the marquee located next to the beach cafe, and guests may also enjoy an outdoor bar, and even street food when available.

The Pilot Boat Pub with beer gardens and a children's fun bus is a short walk from the back garden of the house. This is an excellent place for families, plenty to keep the children entertained, fabulous views of Dulas Estuary from the outside garden, excellent draft beer on tap, and good quality food.

Also easily reached from the back garden is Tyddyn Mon. This is a petting farm with lots of play equipment, sit and ride tractors, nature trail, etc., and a quaint little cafe where Mums & Dads can sit and watch their children play.

There are several pubs, restaurants, amazing eat in or take out chip shop, cafes, etc., in Moelfre, Benllech and Amlwch. Also within walking distance is Llyn Blodyn Fishery which is open all year round; the Anglesey Coastal Path passes nearby the house, and the beautiful Traeth Ora and Dulas Estuary are a walk away, with Traeth Bychan and Benllech Bay being a short car ride away.

There are local Spars, Co-Ops, a small Tesco, Asda, Llidl, Aldi, etc., all a short drive away - or you could get your food delivered before you arrive. Larger supermarkets are approximately 20 mins drive away and include: Sainsbury's, Morrison's, Asda, and Tesco.

Visit the coastal town of Beaumaris with its historic Edward I castle (a World Heritage Site), Court House and Gaol, or take a cruise around Puffin Island and see the seals. A short walk from Siop y Rhos farmhouse is Din Lligwy, a 4th Century AD settlement; Hen Capel, a 12th Century Chapel; and Lligwy Cromlech, a Neolithic burial chamber. Visit Penrhyn Castle, Caernarfon Castle, Conwy Castle, Penmon Priory, and Plas Newydd Country House (National Trust), or simply choose one of the many circular walks along Anglesey's 125 miles of stunning coastline.

Traeth Lligwy is known for it's bass fishing, Moelfre for it's Mackerel, with Amlwch being a fishing favourite, or spend the day golfing. The owners have a 3 person kayak, and golfing equipment which can be made available to hire - please enquire at booking.

We are a 3 generation family, right from Gramps down to baby Amelia, and we had no idea what we would be in for when we booked to stay at Siop y Rhos because there were no reviews of the property for us to read.

The house itself is huge, with lots and lots of rooms to get lost in. One of the major factors in us booking (besides being close to the beach and loads of outside parking) was the ratio of bathrooms to bedrooms - nobody had to queue for the loo, or the shower, and the bathrooms were virtually ensuite.

But the dining kitchen was the 'piece de resitance' - it was huge and arranged in such a way that everyone was part of the conversation and could see each no matter who was sat down, or cooking, or peeling veggies, or loading the dishwasher - it was absolutely stunning and a credit to the owners, Catherine & Steven. It was not just fully equipped but comprehensively equipped to the point that it was more equipped than our kitchen at home. The 2 fridges worked so well, particularly as there was so many of us requiring vast amounts of food - although my darling husband did manage to consume a greater portion that what was required.

The back garden was fantastic for the children. It was completely enclosed and was really big - and we there was another field next to the garden for us to use as well. The owners had just finished building a banquet style garden set and benches outside which was more than big enough for at least 14 of us to sit around, and although there was a large gas BBQ too, the weather wasn't quite kind enough for us to use it. But we did make use of all the board games in the evenings and were really thrilled that the owners had provided so many.

In essence, we thoroughly loved staying at Siop y Rhos, and although the owners lived on site we never saw them and forgot they were there at all. We had a wonderful time, and more than just my eyes watered when it came to saying goodbye. But, we have already booked for next summer and can't wait to go back to our new found home from home.

family weekend

The farmhouse was just perfect for our family gathering ,all 14 of us .

Plenty of room, especially the kitchen ,with everything required. Great space outside ,we enjoyed badminton on the lawn followed by barbecue.

The path to the beach was the bonus. We will be back ..

Perfect getaway

Lovely house, great location and very friendly owners made for a great stay.

Plenty of room for whole family and everything you need is waiting for you, even down to Easter Egg hunt set up for the children.

Beautiful location close to the beach and house itself has amazing gardens and a kitchen that's perfect for socialising!

Lovely stay kitchen perfect space for family time lovely walk to beach

The house was very nice had a great time .Didn't realize that towels weren't included but this was soon sorted .Had mix age range and was perfect for our stay .One thing was with being celebration champagne glasses would be nice .other than that perfect Steve was very helpful and pleasant

We can only offer our apologies that the lack of champagne glasses detracted from your stay. We do try to cater for the majority of guests, and although we do provide 3 full sets of different types of drinking glasses, it can be difficult to get it right every time. Although it is made clear that towels are not included in the write up of the property, we can understand how the confusion happened on this occasion as some people in your family were having their stay at Siop y Rhos as a complete surprise. Luckily, although 13 people stayed with us, only 3 towel bales were needed, and we could have provided more had these been needed. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank you for bringing to our attention the spillage on the lounge carpet. We genuinely appreciate they way in which you quickly brought this to our attention, as this gave us the opportunity to deal with the spillage straight away, thus preventing any stains that may have resulted. We wish that all guests were as willing to speak up as you were, as it makes our jobs much harder when they don't, and we cannot thank you enough for swift actions. We would like to give our feedback to you as our guests, and we were happy to meet you all and would happily welcome you back to stay at Siop y Rhos.

Excellent accommodation and location

We stayed for one week at the end of April and the accommodation was great for us - 2 families with small children occupied the two suites and the grandparents had the double. Lots of space outside for the children to play and for BBQs. Delightful path down to the beach and sea.

Only criticism is the lack of daylight in the kitchen - it could do with a window for views and light.

The owners were very helpful and pleasant.

We've saved responding to your review until now (Sept '17) because we wanted to see if we had similar feedback from other guests, and we haven't, which we're really pleased about because (due to the constraints of the age of the property, we are not allowed to put any more windows in the kitchen, although there are already four in there. What we are extremely pleased about is that without fail, every guest who enters Siop y Rhos utters "WOW" when they walk in the kitchen, which means so much to us.
