Welcome to Casita Alegria situated in the old part of the beautiful white village of Jimena de la Frontera. Our comfortable holiday home is on a quiet street near the Moorish castle and is within easy walking distance of all amenities. There is no problem parking outside the house, or close nearby. The accommodation occupies the top floor of a traditional Spanish town house and, apart from the flight of stairs leading up to the Casita, is all on one level with a convenient layout. There is a well equipped kitchen, a stylish bathroom complete with bidet and shower over the bath, comfortable double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and reverse air con/heating unit, open plan living/dining room with open log fire and reverse air con/heating unit. Double French doors from the living area lead onto a spacious terrace with stunning views over the countryside. The terrace has a table and four chairs for al fresco dining and two sun loungers. Casita Alegria is tastefully decorated and furnished and has a beautiful traditional high beamed ceiling.
Jimena de la Frontera is surrounded by the Alcornocales national park (well known for its cork oaks and mushrooms!) and the countryside is beautiful and varied with numerous walks (many from the village itself). It is also an ideal area for bird watchers. The village and its surrounding countryside is a joy for nature lovers and those looking for calm and relaxation. The rural destination is ideal for those looking for an escape away from main tourist areas of the coast and who want to be able to explore the great outdoors. Jimena de la Frontera is located just 35 kilometres from the coast, where you can visit San Roque and Sotogrande, Gibraltar and Tarifa. It really is the perfect base for a holiday as there is something for everyone including lovely beaches, several championship golf courses, polo, interesting towns and villages to explore. The town is also on the rail route to Ronda so you can enjoy the stunning countryside without taking your car.
The village itself has numerous shops and bars and several excellent restaurants serving fresh local produce. There is a municipal swimming pool which is open during the summer months and a health centre. You will find the locals very friendly and they appreciate it if you make an effort to speak Spanish, even if it is just “hola”, “gracias” and “adios”. Jimena has a Spring fair, a three day music festival in July, a summer feria in August and a mushroom festival in the autumn
My husband and I moved to Spain from the UK in 2006. We live in Duquesa which is down on the coast, around a 30 min drive from Gibraltar where we both work. We both love Spanish culture and countryside and fell in love with Jimena the first time we visited. We were lucky enough to be in a position to buy a house there recently and jumped at the chance to own a property in this beautiful village.
Karen Dearnaley purchased this apartment in 2015
The first time we viewed the apartment we were struck by the stunning views, not only from the terrace but from the living area and also the fantastic high beamed ceiling, which is a traditional feature of the area
