Awarded as one of the prettiest and most comfortable villas in Tuscany, Villa Calcinaio with its private swimming pool stands proudly in Cortona and offers amazing views over the Chiana Valley as well as the Church of "Santa Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio", from which the name of the property derives from. Chosen in the years by artists, painters and writers as a privileged retreat, the villa has been carefully renovated and beautifully enriched, with antique furniture and stylish touches to provide unforgettable holidays season after season.
This air-conditioned villa is set over 2 floors. On the ground floor there are a beautiful lounge (with sofas, satellite tv, wi-fi internet connection), a separate fully equipped kitchen with dining area, a bedroom with a single bed, a further passage-way room with a sofa-bed providing direct access to the garden and a large bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Upstairs there are 2 attractively fusnished bedrooms (air-conditioned) with beamed ceiling (a double and a twin) and a shower room with hydromassage shower. The upper level can be reached both using the internal staircase or directly from the outside for additional privacy.
Outside Villa Calcinaio offers to its guests extensive private gardens, beautifully mantained and carefully furnished with sunbeds, table/chairs for al-fresco dining and parasols. The private pool, available from the beginning of April until the end of October, is set in a panoramic position and enjoys beautiful views over the garden and the surrounding hills. It also features hydromassage jets and a waterfall feature for extra relaxation.
Lotsa of room and hot water. Nice view.
Enrico the manager of the property very helpful and responded quickly to our needs.
Close to Strata so a lot of traffic noise during the day.
Like any villa in the country ants, spiders, centipedes and scorpions are present but with regular sweeping and mopping of floors along with spray/vapour plug ins they can be kept at a minimum.
Keep track of your electrical usage by reading meter every couple days as it can get very expensive ...up to €18/day.
Would stay there again.
