Available to rent throughout the year, this recently refurbished Oxfordshire holiday let is a very spacious house located in the quiet rural village of Goosey. This Oxon based house has a large garden and looks out on to the lovely village green which is about 18 acres where the monks of ancient Oxford once farmed their geese — hence the name. It sleeps 13 comfortably (16 with the sofa bed and zed bed) and is ideal for short breaks (minimum 3 nights) or longer rentals. Fabulous for family get-togethers or groups of friends; children and pets are welcome (sorry but no Stag parties)

1. Utilities: Range Cooker and standard cooker, Microwave, 2 x Fridge/Freezer, Washing machine, Tumble Drier and all other standard utilities.

2. Rooms: Bedrooms (6), Bathrooms (4), large Kitchen, Dining room and 2 Sitting rooms. Generous halls and utility room.

3. Beds: 3 x King, 2 x double (one of the doubles is in with the bunk bed) and a single, and a sofa bed if needed. High quality linen and towels provided.

4. Outside: Large landscaped garden and terrace with seating and BBQs.

5. Access: Lots of parking space.

6. Technical: 2 x LCD Digital TV, DVD, Wifi

We offer a spacious and fully equipped kitchen (please note the AGA in the picture has been replaced with a professional range cooker), a dining room and 2 large living rooms with plenty of seating.

There are 6 bedrooms that include:

3 king beds

1 double bed

1 double bed with bunk beds

1 single bed

1 double sofa bed in the summer house (please note there is electricity but no plumbing in the summer house).

There are 4 bathrooms, 3 of which are new and en-suite. Longacre also has a large landscaped garden with a terrace on which there are barbeques, 3 picnic tables and plenty of comfortable chairs for dining outside.

About Amber

This is a picture of us in one of many local pubs. We also live in Goosey so we're close by to help! We have 3 children, couple of ponies, dogs, cat and chickens. Marcus is a racing journalist and I (Amber) look after Longacre and I'm a full time Mum etc.

Amber Armytage, who runs Longacre, is a mother of three and lives just across the green.

A Bit of Background

After four years in the Maritime department at Christie’s in London, Amber worked in France before coming back to work for a London-based interior design company called Beaumont & Fletcher. Then, after moving to Goosey, she set up her own interior decorating business, much in demand after the summer floods of 2007. She combined this with bringing up her three children.

She is married to the Daily Telegraph racing correspondent, Marcus, who is the last amateur jockey to win the Grand National and holds the course record time.

Why Amber chose Vale of White Horse

This property is the perfect property for a friends (not stags or hens though!)and family get together because it's spacious and sleep 13 in beds and 16 with the new sofa bed and zed bed.

Longacre is in the most beautiful part of England with the benefit of being an hour and a half from London by car (depending on time of day) 50 mins by train. Goosey is close to many historical towns with many other great attractions, please see the website: www.holidayletoxfordshire.co.uk.

What makes this house unique

If you're into riding there is a riding school in Goosey called Asti.

Longacre is the perfect place for a family and friends get together. It is close to the Uffington White Horse, the Ridgeway, the Cotswolds and the upper reaches of the Thames. All this and only 80 miles from central London. The Roman towns of Cirencester, Bath and Cheltenham are all within an hour.

Only 25 minutes from Oxford

and smaller market towns of Wantage and Faringdon (10 minutes) while Stanford-in-the-Vale is even closer. See more information in the Local Area page.

Christmas 2016 at Longacre, Goosey

Longacre was everything it was described and more. The well-maintained property provided the perfect location for our family from around the globe to gather for Christmas, it felt like home! It slept 14 with comfort, and enough space to accommodate additional day visitors. The owner was absolutely charming and was avaialble before, during and after our stay to answer any questions. Amber also provided us with a recommended list of shopping, pub, restaurant and local attractions which came in very useful. We had a great afternoon at the Fox in Denchworth if you like a short walk and a good English pub. The property also has a large garden and summer house which we did not use but in the warmer weather would be great as additional space for a family gathering. I would highly recommend this property.

Comfy and cosy large house

Nine of us stayed at this very spacious house. The bedrooms were all good with noticeable high quality linen. Fantastic open plan kitchen and diner which easily coped with a lot of food. Two living rooms that were both individualy big enough for all. We used one as a games room and one for lounging.

The owner is fantastic and very accomodating. We booked for next year before leaving. My personal favourite was the open fire.

Fantastic Accommodation For Family Gathering

Longacre was fantastic, very clean and tidy with modern facilities. We were meeting for a family gathering with 9 adults. The kitchen/dining area was spacious and had everything needed. We loved it so much we have booked for next year too. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful stay in a lovely property

Very well presented property with great garden

We are a group of 10 adults and 8 kids and spent the August bank holiday at the house. There was plenty of space both in the house for a dinner party and outside for the kids to play and for a BBQ. The house was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. there are also some very good local pubs as well which are a short drive away.Overall a very enjoyable place to stay for a weekend.

Spacious, welcoming and very comfortable

We rented Longacre for a large family party and found it was perfect for our needs. The children loved having their own sitting room (so did the adults!), and all of the rooms were large and comfortable. The garden was huge and easily accommodated an afternoon of cricket, an evening Halloween sweetie hunt and some fireworks as well. The house was very well appointed and Amber popped over to say hello and to see if we needed anything.

Nearby were some lovely walks which could be as short or long as you wished, and local pubs served delicious food.

I would not hesitate in recommending Longacre to anyone who needs large and varied accommodation, and enjoys the British countryside.
