BEST HOLIDAY EVER

  • 5 of 5

I came across this property through a friend of a friend, when looking for a holiday which could cater for our very large family of various ages and diverse needs. (never been an easy task!)

I have to say this is the place that suits literally everyone! The location feels remote enough to be very private, feeling like we had our own little paradise, but also not too far away from civilisation. Ten mins walk from a stunning little village called Frespech (Takeaway pizza van is a MUST!) There are also so many local beautiful markets to choose from every day of the week, with music, stalls, stunning food and a lot of fun. Most local is the Mussee de fois gras which is a little trek up the hill, helps to justify eating all the scrummy food on offer ;-)

The house itself is beautiful, clean, tidy, very well maintained, there was absolutely nothing we needed that wasn't provided. So many options for dining depending on the mood. Alfresco in the sun, or go for poolside snacks under the gazebo, or even a cool relax on the kitchen patio as the sun goes down. Dining outside as the sun sets, is just incredible, and whatever the chosen location, you will always be treated to stunning views.

Bedrooms are very comfortable, all with stunning views over the magnificent countryside. Master bedroom is gorgeous complete with en suite and roll top bath, perfect after a day of canoeing down the river.

Being a Mountain Biker, I was over the moon to discover a secret network of barely used moto X tracks across miles of the local land, catering for cross country and downhill bikers alike. Of course my brother, a keen road biker, was also in heaven exploring the vast countryside by road.

In terms of things to do, whatever age, whatever your interests there really is something for everyone. Active people can explore til their hearts are content. Sun worshippers will love the pool, and sun beds. Kids spent the whole time moving between the trampoline, pool, exploring the grounds, trips out to the local pirate world for our youngest family members, and best of all is the laser tag centre which is 20 mins drive, and brilliant fun for all the family, including the teenagers.Never laughed so much.

There are tonnes of things I know I have forgotten as there's just too much to mention and I'm running out of space. All I can say is that this is the absolute BEST holiday we have ever had, and will for sure be going back to make more wonderful memories. Highly recommended for everyone.

The property is set in a stunning location with amazing views over the countryside. The area has lots to explore and things to do or you can just chill around the fantastic pool area. Lifernet has a wonderful relaxing vibe that makes you instantly relax. We have spent several holidays there and loved every minute of them.

Penne D'agenais
Car: necessary

Penne D'agenais, described as one of the most beautiful villages in France has several delightful restaurants in a glorious setting. One must try Maison Sur La Place and Bombecul both having Al Fresco dining. Pujols is a delightful village which hosts an amazing night market on a Wednesday evening, one could also try Beauville night market on a Friday evening. Villeneuve Sur Lot is a very interesting town to explore with lots of lovely shops and restaurants, it has a day market on a Saturday morning in the square. Puymirol Bastide is a bit further a field but well worth a visit for those gourmet aficionados as it has a two Michelin Star restaurant, Auberge (chef - Michel Trama).

In Frespech itself, there is the Musee du Foie Gras which is well worth a visit and every Friday throughout the summer they host a picnic style lunch in the grounds selling the local delicacies, such as grilled duck, local wines, cheeses, snails and of course Foie Gras! There is also a restaurant in Frespech village which is a duck lovers heaven which is owned by the Musee Du Foie Gras.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful for walks, running and is an absolute dream for those cyclists among you with a penchant for lycra..... both mountain bikers and road bikers give the area a massive thumbs up! There are several Moto Cross tracks which are suitable for motorbiking and MTB.

There are a number of lakes in the surrounding areas where one can do canoeing, swimming and watersports. Frespech has a local lake and there are also two stables for horse riding within ten minutes of Lifernet.

Agen is the capital of the Lot et Garonne and is an interesting place to visit with lots of big shops and lovely restaurants, such as Galeries Lafayette, Maison du Monde and Sephora etc. Close to Agen for the younger guests, there is an amusement park, called Parc Walibi.

Food shopping is a breeze with the best supermarket being on the outskirts of Villeneuve Sur Lot -E. LeClerc (approx 18 km away). Closer but not as big are the Intermarche Super (12 Km) at Saint Sylvestre Sur Lot or Carrefour at Laroque Timbaut (9 Km).
