A Pefect Get-away Located In Central Britanny Close To Countryside And Coast

Located in the center of the quaint historical village of Guéméne sur scorff, this beautiful 17thC house has been restored with huge amounts of dedication and care to offer a luxurious holiday space. Surrounded by the local bars & restaurants, boulangeries, shops, banks & supermarkets, this is a perfect place for couples, families (4yrs and up- children need to be confident with walking up and down stairs independently), and small groups who would like a getaway and enjoy the option of being close to amenities & with plenty of options to explore the countryside & coast.

The main house has a lovely sense of calm with enough space to sleep up to 5 people. There is an option of one additional person sleeping in a separate studio.

On the ground floor is the main sitting room with large leather sofas, free view UK TV, free view French TV, a dvd player, music playing system and restored fireplace; joining onto a well-appointed kitchen with dishwasher, butlers sink, electric oven, gas hobs & long antique wooden table with plenty of room for group meals. The double glass doors give a feeling of space and opens out onto a small stylish balcony.

The main bedroom is located on the first floor & sleeps two -one king size or two singles- is light and spacious, with a mini library and looks out onto the main street. Also located on the first floor is a main luxurious bathroom, with a large shower, an original cast iron bath and heated towel rail.

The top 2nd floor is open planned & bright with the option of one king size or two singles at one end; and at the opposite end the option of a quiet sitting space with views over the back of the village - or - convert the double sofa into a double bed making the possibility for another room for one.

Facing the main house is a small tranquil studio for yoga/ mediation/ movement/ music/reading and with the possibility of sleeping one extra person.

Garden- Set behind the studio are two private gardens with extra outdoor seating and a bbq.

Guéméne is a pretty little village surrounded by wooded hillsides. Dating back to the 15th century with its historic monuments and picturesque buildings it provides culture and interest to many visitors every year. Its most famous for its ‘Andouille’ and to celebrate, there is a big Andouille festival at the end of August each year with wonderful Breton music and dancing in traditional costumes. The Scorff Valley is rich, with protected natural and historical heritage, & has 400km of marked trails to discover, running between woodland and river.

About the Owner

After spending many years working in the UK and renovating in France, with the birth of our first child, we finally decided to trade in the city life for rural France. We opened a little bar and restaurant, and have spent our free days restoring our house with a great deal of consideration to its original features. We love space and design, and we have favoured where possible eco-environmental building methods. Now with two children and a popular little business, we enjoy living in the center of the village, where we are in touch with local life and with the opportunity to escape to the countryside or coast.

Our family has been living in this area for over 25 years, and so we know it well, and can recommend sightseeing, places to go and things to do.

We had a lovely week away with the kids. The owners, Monique and Ash were so helpful. Told us exactly where to go that would be fun for the kids. On a few occasions visited a nearby lake that also had a small beach and a lovely restaurant. Loved it there. Also the cottage was a good central location to nearby beaches. The cottage itself was very nicely set out, clean and well equipped. Would definitely go back again.

Perfect stay

This accomodation is highly recommendable. It is tidy, furbished with much love. and outstanding with respect to its flair. The hosts are lovely people and their adjacent restaurant is also truly worth a visit. We had a wonderful time there and enjoyed both the house as well as the landscape with so many beautiful beaches. Many thanks.

Beautifully decorated clean and tidy house.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful old building that has been sympathetically decorated to the very highest level. Loads of space, spotlessly clean and all the mod cons you could wish for whilst on holiday. Loved the roll top bath and walk in wet room shower.

lovely hosts who were helpful and very pleasant to deal with.

Overall a great place in a lovely spot in a nice town.

Stop searching - stay here. It's amazing!

A great property on three floors in the centre of a small market town in central Brittany, with lots of interesting places to visit within a hour's drive in all directions. Decorations and furnishings are fantastic and stylish - owners pictures are exactly what's there. Kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable and back courtyard is a series of hidden spaces that go on for ever. Evening sun catches the patio outside the kitchen - lovely. English speaking owners live close-by and on hand for advise and local knowledge. The bathroom in this town house has to be one of the nicest bathrooms I've been in. Boulangerie, butcher, bars, newsagents, creperies and all things very French just outside the front door. The town is quiet at night. There was a small market on the Friday morning we were there. Lovely open wooden staircase but note that the gite is advertised as not suitable for children under 4. We had a very relaxing stay. The town/village is famous throughout France for its Andouille sausages, an acquired taste but very nice if you like tripe. Rental is new on the market and you'll have to book this one early because demand for this fantastic gite is likely to be huge.

perfekte Mischung aus Alt und neu. Perfekt!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Location

From the Owner

This house has so much charm. Its quirkiness & odd little spaces that extend right out to an open back garden are all such wonderful discoveries that one would never expect from a house in the main street of our little village. We think it’s perfectly placed for those who are in need of rest and recuperation with many little quite spots to hide away, and with the option of village life right on your door step.
