2 bedroom, pretty courtyard garden only 2 mins walk to Wadebridge town

9 Riversdale is a two hundred year old cottage on the Polmorla Road and you couldn't get closer to town (Molesworth Street) unless you lived in a shop!

Downstairs is an open plan arrangement: newly fitted kitchen, mini breakfast bar as well as a dining area to sit four people. The lounge is really cosy: a sofa, lounge chair and a modern chaise longue along with a table with boots on and part of a tree! There's a line outside for hanging wetsuits and a lean-to shed if it's raining. There's an outside tap so you can rinse them through too! A bike rack for two bikes with a cover. A 30 second stroll away is a launderette - so turning towels around after the beach is easy! It's £4 for a big load and a couple of pounds to dry it all!

Back to the cottage ...

The new shower room is on the ground floor - with a nice spacious shower, sink unit and loo - with a soft close lid!

Upstairs there are two bedrooms: one double and the other can be either a twin or a double - so good for families or two couples - sleeps 4. If you feel like being really cosy the sofa can clickclack to become a bed. Get in touch if that appeals.

There is a new gas cooker and fridge and new pots, pans and everything else in the kitchen! Usual kettle, toaster and microwave. I've just bought an iron and mini board for those who like to look uncreased! And there's a hair dyer in the bedroom.

Outside, there is a small courtyard to the rear of the cottage - enough room to sit out and enjoy the sunshine (it's a sun trap!). There are a couple of 'bistro chairs' and a little table. And a traditional washing line for towels and wet suits! There's an outside tap and hose to rinse off your wet suits/swimming gear and a shed to hang them without cluttering the cottage.

we've just bought a bike rack for two bikes so if you bring your own cycles, they can be secured in the courtyard (bring your padlocks!)

There is a car park next door and we leave a permit for our guests to use.You can park on the road outside after 6pm and all day on a Sunday.

There is mobile reception in the cottage and courtyard and we now have the internet too!

Two minutes' walk away is an excellent launderette, so rather than fill the cottage with machines and dryers - either don't do it or trot down the road.

The cottage is less than a 2 minute walk to the centre of Wadebridge - with lots of boutique shops, cafes, pubs and dining opportunities - as well as a cinema, charity shops, butchers, bakery, shoe shops - great places to sit outside.

A choice of places to hire bikes and cycle The Camel Trail. A great day out in Padstow (40 mins) or Bodmin in the other direction. It's a flat cycle so suitable for anyone who can ride a bike! Wagons available to hire for babies and extension bikes for those who need a little help! They now hire out electric bikes if you need a little extra strength.

The walks are excellent - along the Camel Estuary or into the fields and coastal walks beyond.

If there's a rainy day, you can stay in the cottage watch TV, read a book or pop on an anorak and go for a wander round the town - or the cinema, local sports centre and much more.

As well as eat out venues, there are plenty of take-way opportunities - including the excellent Spice Guru at the end of the road (towards town) which offers exceptional Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine and a couple of excellent fish (locally sourced) and chip shops.

It's a short journey by car to the exciting surf and beaches of North Cornwall. My favourite place is Trebarwith Strand with excellent surf, cafes and pubs. The views are exceptional and even if you're not one to brave the ocean and the waves - watching is great fun! You can hire all the kit you need at Trebarwith.

Padstow is delightful - only 30 mins on a bike. Take in the harbour and then walk to the far side and over a little hill and you will find a massive sandy beach - St George's Bay where the old Lifeboat house is - now someone's home!

Boobys Bay, Harlyn Bay, Tervose Bay - all close by and excellent for surfing and glorious days out.

Boscastle (famous for it's cream teas and horrific flood in 2004) is close-by - watching footage of the flood in the visitor's centre as the flood happened, is incredible.

Tintagel is also about 30 mins drive away with the ruins of King Arthur's Castle and Merlin's cave down on the beach. I have seen a seal in the waters there - so it's well worth a visit! A good selection of pubs and cafes - I can recommend 'Charlie's' - delicious good all day!

There is plenty to do - come rain or shine. Rain and wind makes the seas' crashing waves mesmerising; safe coastal walking is amazing. And the sun draws you out for biking, swimming and surfing.

About Nicky Bell


I'm Nicky and I bought this cottage in Spring 2015 because I love Cornwall and I especially love Wadebridge. I enjoy heaving myself on a body board in the surf and walking the amazing coastal paths; however, I found that I also like being in a community - which is vibrant all year round. As a base to explore North Cornwall it couldn't be better - and with all the benefits of a small boutique town it works perfectly. If the sun is out - your can explore the coast and beaches, go on a bike ride, swim and surf. If it's raining, you can enjoy the eateries, pubs, shops, cafes, sports centre, cinema and of course, the cottage.

I live in Berkshire and work as psychotherapist; for me, being in Cornwall is a therapy in itself!

I hope to move down to Wadebridge permanently one day, but for now I'll just enjoy the cottage when no one else is - out of season!

Why Nicky Bell chose Wadebridge

Because it's how I imagine a cottage to be - cosy, two hundred years old, walls as thick as a thick-thing and it oozes character. It's not too big but it's not cramped small either. Plenty of room to swing a medium sized kitten. The courtyard is lovely - just a few flowers and it catches lots of sun - it needs to take care of itself, so diddy is just right. There's a outside tap for rinsing surf gear and bike rack an cover for two bikes. It's a flat short walk to the town, so no hills to conquer... it's just really close to everything whilst still being on a quiet side street.

What makes this cottage unique

What are the unique benefits of Riversdale? It's pretty, cosy, convenient, quiet and only a short flat walk into town.

Wadebridge is a great community - all year - young people, older folk - all curiously 'chilled'.

The location is central for exploring North Cornwall - the coastal walks, surf, sea and swimming, kayaking, eating and drinking opportunities, the local ciders, biking, the inland 'tor' walks ... there's history and sand castles and doing nothing and being activity mad! And coming home to your cosy cottage to chill, eat and sleep. I want you to treat the cottage as your own ...

Cosy, relaxing and we'll equipped

Beautiful cosy cottage in a perfect location on a quiet road. The owner has thought carefully about their customers, providing useful information on the area from the heart as well as providing a car park permit. The cottage has a really homely feel and is a stone's throw from the centre.

Wadebridge is a welcoming community with some lovely facilities - a perfect base for exploring the local area.

We're planning our next visit!

Amazingly clean beautiful cottage great location and done out beautifully

This cottage is in an ideal location, close to bars & shops, beautifully done out and lovely and quiet. Only 2 downfalls for us was there was no iron and as we stayed in a heatwave last week there was no fan and the cottage is very warm even when windows are open as it's sheltered from the breeze a bit, so take an iron and a fan with you, other than that we were amazed at the level of cleanliness and there was everything we needed for our stay, brilliant, Nicky is lovely and we would def stay again 😀?

Cosy, functional and comfy

Really enjoyed our time here. The owner goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. The house is super well stocked with condiments, matches, toilet roll, washing up liquid, batteries, parking permit. The location is great, being only a few minutes walk from all of Wadebridge's attractions. Highly recommended.

Clean,comfortable and convenient

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at 9 Riversdale. The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed. It was in a quiet location but within a few minutes walk of the town centre with its good variety of shops and cafes. It was a bonus having the car park close by with parking permit. Wadebridge is an attractive place and we enjoyed strolling by the river in the evenings.
