About the Owner

I've recently just married and my husband and I live in a pretty village in Warwickshire, near Stratford-upon-Avon. We both have demanding jobs so really enjoy escaping to our Apartment in beautiful Beer as often as we can - we just love its peace and tranquility. Perfect to recharge the batteries

Lovely comfortable accommodation in excellent location in picturesque Beer offers a perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful short break in Beer. We really enjoyed staying in this cosy apartment, and felt very comfortable there and able to relax - just what we needed!

The apartment is nicely decorated, comfortable, and clearly lovingly furnished, with the feeling of a well-loved home-from-home retreat. We certainly felt at home and able to relax quickly into our holiday.

What else can I add... The stairs to the 2nd floor apartment are easily manageable. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and eating in but Beer also has plenty of excellent places to eat out too - all just a short stroll from the apartment. The attractive lounge is perfect for relaxing in in the evening, and the apartment was lovely and warm. It was also a nice touch to find fresh flowers in the apartment when we arrived.

Sue has provided a very comprehensive information folder about every aspect of the apartment and included lots of useful tips about Beer and the local area, and she kindly offered us assistance with local information or planning our holiday if we should need it.

Thanks Sue, my wife and I enjoyed our all-too-short stay in your apartment. :-)

Beautiful cosy flat by the coast

  • 5 of 5

Sue was very forthcoming and helpful around the details required for the stay. The flat has all of the mod cons you need and is very comfortable and welcoming. The flat is beautifully situated down the main street next to everything and is an extremely reasonable price for what you get. A lovely stay that I would recommend.

A great chill out pad

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely find, we thoroughly enjoyed our week at Durham house. The apartment is lovely, has everything you need for your holiday and is very spacious. There is also great internet connection which we all seem to want nowerdays. The only niggle we had was that the television had an annoying 'hum' on the sound.

Beer is a lovely village and we have stayed there a few times, this apartment is the best we have stayed in and are sure we will visit again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very kind comments and I am delighted you enjoyed the Apartment and lovely Beer. We have taken note of your comment about the TV and hope this didn't cause too much distraction. I think it may be a problem when the volume setting on the DVD is set too high, but we will certainly rectify! Best regards, Sue

Excellent Comfy Clean Great location Home from home

  • 5 of 5

As above . Beautiful laid back very pretty village ,all amenities on hand. Good restaurants, try the Italian also the hotel in centre of the village. Probably for me was the amazing flora offered by all the local traders and the lack of the usual seaside start. Will be back!!!!!

Durham House Apartment

  • 5 of 5

The property was really good value for money. It manages to be both contemporary and cosy at the same time. For a top floor apartment it is extremely spacious and airy. As a light sleeper I particularly appreciated the quiet and darkness in the bedroom at night.

We needed to contact Mandy, the housekeeper, on arrival and she was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. We had glorious weather whilst in Beer so did not spend a great deal of time in the apartment but I can imagine in winter it would be a lovely cosy bolthole. We will definitely try to book Durham House again for our next visit to Beer!

Location

From the Owner

We discovered this great Apartment whilst on holiday one year and set about transforming it to a comfortable and relaxing home environment. Since buying the property we come back and visit as often as possible - mainly out of season in Spring and Autumn when we enjoy long walks to Branscombe and taking in the fresh sea air

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Various at 50 Metres Nearest Motorway : M5 at 25 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Various at 10 Metres Nearest Beach : Beer at 300 Metres Car: recommended

Beer fishing village is the perfect base to explore the East Devon Jurassic Coast. You'll find an unspoilt and traditional seaside environment devoid of 'Kiss me Quick' hats, but full of friendly people, fabulous pubs and restaurants. It also boasts two stylish art galleries, tea shops and quaint seaside cottages and thatched houses

There is an excellent coastal bus service which you can pick up just opposite the Apartment . This takes the coastal route to the historic cathedral City of Exeter in one direction and delightful Lyme Regis in Dorset, in the other. The glorious Cobb Harbour is worth a visit and has had a starring role in such films as Persuasion and The French Lieutentnat's Woman

For local services, shopping and sightseeing, both Seaton town and Victorian Sidmouth are just a 10 min drive away

Beer also boasts the fantastic Quarry Caves and Pecorama, a model railway treasure trove, with beautiful gardens and model railways for children and adults alike

Bicton Garden is a delightful botanical garden about a 15 minute drive away, close to the pretty neighbouring village of Budleigh Salterton
