About Sue Wesley

I've recently just married and my husband and I live in a pretty village in Warwickshire, near Stratford-upon-Avon. We both have demanding jobs so really enjoy escaping to our Apartment in beautiful Beer as often as we can - we just love its peace and tranquility. Perfect to recharge the batteries

Sue Wesley purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Sue Wesley chose Beer

We discovered this great Apartment whilst on holiday one year and set about transforming it to a comfortable and relaxing home environment. Since buying the property we come back and visit as often as possible - mainly out of season in Spring and Autumn when we enjoy long walks to Branscombe and taking in the fresh sea air

What makes this apartment unique

Beer village is the perfect base to explore the local East Devon region, yet it offers all the amenities you could want on the doorstep. The locals are friendly and welcoming and the Apartment is light, fresh and airy. We think it has all the extra touches that will make your stay so relaxing and enjoyable

Beautiful apartment in the centre of Beer close to all amenities. Fully equipped with everything you need and clean and tastefully decorated. We were sorry we only booked for two days as felt so at home but will definitely be back. We ate out a couple of times and found the Anchor Inn next to the harbour great value for money (and doggy friendly)

Comfortable and well equipped...

  • 4 of 5

My husband, myself and our dog Wilf stayed here for a long weekend May Spring Bank holiday... Once in the apartment we found it comfortable, bright and well equipped... maybe a bit too well equipped as there was no room for our own foodstuff without reorganising the cupboards! We had wonderful weather and enjoyed visits to Sidmouth, Branscome and Seaton, not a lot you can do in three days... we needed longer really as there is plenty to see and do in Beer and the surrounding area. Beer itself is a truly lovely village and with three good dog friendly pubs within a 3/5 minute walk...You really must try a beer in the 'Barrel of Beer' in Beer!! Sue was a marvellous, remote host, with little tit bits of information over the email, nothing seeming to be too much trouble, 10/10 for communication. We would definitely come back to this area and even to Durham House if Sue would have us back... Overall 8/10

The apartment was well appointed and comfortable. Parking was off site, but close by. We enjoyed the many village restaurants and pubs.

Durham Apartment, Beer

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay for 4 nights. The apartment was comfortable and had everything you needed. Only had one problem, the bath towels smelt of smoke and had to be changed. We loved Beer and will definately return again.

Beer fishing village is the perfect base to explore the East Devon Jurassic Coast. You'll find an unspoilt and traditional seaside environment devoid of 'Kiss me Quick' hats, but full of friendly people, fabulous pubs and restaurants. It also boasts two stylish art galleries, tea shops and quaint seaside cottages and thatched houses

There is an excellent coastal bus service which you can pick up just opposite the Apartment . This takes the coastal route to the historic cathedral City of Exeter in one direction and delightful Lyme Regis in Dorset, in the other. The glorious Cobb Harbour is worth a visit and has had a starring role in such films as Persuasion and The French Lieutentnat's Woman

For local services, shopping and sightseeing, both Seaton town and Victorian Sidmouth are just a 10 min drive away

Beer also boasts the fantastic Quarry Caves and Pecorama, a model railway treasure trove, with beautiful gardens and model railways for children and adults alike

Bicton Garden is a delightful botanical garden about a 15 minute drive away, close to the pretty neighbouring village of Budleigh Salterton
