Old Oddfellows Hall Brough -

  • 3 of 5

Lovely cottage in quiet location, well equipped with everything you need to feel at home. Very clean. No real outlook as windows very high up. Unfortunately the radiators only run when the fuel burner in the lounge is lit - so could be chilly first thing in the morning. Coal included in the price. Overall good location for lakes, country walks and nearby Kirkby Stephen.

Very comfortable cottage, well equipped and quiet as set back from the road.

We stayed in Old Oddfellows Hall for a week at the end of May. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very well situated for the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. A 10-15 minute walk to Brough castle is highly recommended and lovely ice cream at the cafe there too. We found some lovely walks by the river just a short stroll away. The fish & chip shop locally was very good but check opening times. We found the cottage very comfortable, really well equipped, toys and DVDs provided too for the children. It was lovely to have a log fire every night with all kindling, coal etc provided. The housekeeper was very helpful and friendly. We left a charger and the owner arranged for this to be posted back to us at no extra cost which was great. A bonus for us was we had a week of sunshine. We've already booked the same week next year!

A relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

We had a relaxing break at the start of April in this comfortable and well equipped cottage. It had an amazing roll top bath and a solid fuel burner. It was well located between the pennines and the lakes which meant there was plenty of lovely places to explore within half an hours drive, or if that's too far the ice cream in Brough ice cream parlour was lovely! The golden fleece pub opposite was welcoming and had a pool table to keep you entertained in the evenings. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Hidden away gem

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for one week in February 2016.First impressions of this little hidden away gem are that it is spotlessly clean and the fire had already been lit for us by manager, who lives next door. Our party was of two adults and two teenage boys. The living area was adequately sized for us all and the kitchen equipped with all that was required for a stay.(although whistle was missing from electric kettle)The property at that time of year was snug and warm with the fire charged by coke as opposed to logs ,this generously provided by the owners. There were two heaters also supplied ,both electric .The fan one was a tad noisey and we had to keep it away from the tv as it was distracting.but again very generous and also included in price.Once settled in we all found the beds to be very comfy ,the bathroom has a lovely and quite powerful shower along with the super roll top bath.We found the fire no problem to manage and our stay was all that we had hoped for .The area itself around Brough is very interesting and we have often breezed past, en route to the Lakes, as many others have.We took this opportunity to explore around Brough and its local area and planned our three walks from the Oddfellows Hall. The local history with Castles and Viaducts is interesting and well worth a stroll along, with the nearby Reservoirs providing an opportunity for some photography and wildlife watching.Thank you for sharing your wonderful little retreat with us.

Charming well equipped clean cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic time. Map of how to get there would have been useful but tho locals in the nearby pub were most helpful with directions . Delighted to be welcomed by a roasting fire. Contrary to information on the site, there is now free unlimited wifi which pleased the children. Excellent value for money. Would certainly book again :-)

Well Converted hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

The front is very appealing and inside did not let it down. It has been well converted with good facilities at a very reasonable price. We would certainly stay again.
