Cottage in the grounds of Biggin Grange, Biggin-by-Hartington, Peak District

Biggin Grange is a private family home with 3 barn conversions in the grounds which have been sympathetically and very individually restored. The nearby village of Biggin has a pub and country house hotel and Hartington offers 2 village shops, pub, hotel, garage and traditional cheese shop. The Tissington trail is very close for walking and cycling and it is possible to walk over the owners land to Biggin Dale which leads to the River Dove. All 3 cottages can be booked together if wished to sleep 6 as Courtyard Creamery has a dining area which can accommodate all the guests.

All on one level the very cosy cottage is entered through the private south-facing patio and garden into an open-plan kitchen/sitting room with a flagstone floor, rugs and exposed beams. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a wood-burning stove and a basket of logs, coal and kindling is included. TV, DVD player and a Wireless Bluetooth speaker. The bedroom has an antique double-size bed with goose-down duvet and 100% cotton linen. The ensuite bathroom has a bath, electric shower, hand basin & loo. The cottage is heated by oil-fired central heating. Plenty of secure storage for bikes. The tennis court is available throughout the year. A central laundry room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board and there is also a pay phone. Free Wi-Fi. All towels are provided. Barbeque.

About Jane Henry

Biggin Grange is owned by Richard & Jane Henry and we moved up to Derbyshire in 1993 from London. We bought Biggin Grange is 2000 and have extensively restored the house, outbuildings and farm. It is a fabulous home to bring up our 3 children and we are surrounded by over 100 acres of fields. Our black labrador, Otto, together with ponies, a donkey called Guinness, chickens and ducks have plenty of space to amuse themselves. The property is steeped in history as the Garendon Abbey in Leicestershire owned the Grange and it dates back to 1209. It is Grade II listed and there are many significant archaeological features on the property. We rent the land out to a neighbouring farmer who has beef cattle and sheep over the fields. We adore this stunning area and hope you do too!

Biggin Grange is a perfect place to visit as it is surrounded by acres of land with amazing views so you really get a feeling of being away from it all. But at the same time it is really convenient being close to Ashbourne and the nearby villages of Biggin and Hartington. London is only 1 hr 30 mins away on the train from Derby and Manchester is 1 hr drive away.

Living within the Peak District National Park is incredibly special and it is only when we have been away do we fully appreciate the unspoilt beauty of Derbyshire.

Notes on accommodation: There is plenty of parking available. Sorry but no pets or smoking are permitted in the cottages. You are welcome to smoke outside the cottages! Outside: All the private gardens or patios have garden furniture. The hard tennis court is available for year-round playing and has been repainted in Summer 2013. A barbeque is available for each cottage.

Perfect for a trip away in the Peaks!

Lovely cottage and the owner really goes the extra mile with small touches which make the experience even nicer. The views at the back of the cottage are amazing and it's perfectly situated for exploring. Would defiantly recommended a stay!

Fabulous place to stay

This cute little cottage has it all. Excellent facilities,character and charm with the most amazing views! If you can dine Al Fresco you will appreciate the outside space as we were lucky enough to do. Jane and Richard are excellent hosts and provided lots of useful local information, the chocolate brownies were delicious and a lovely touch. We highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

Really nice location, views were amazing. Nice little cottage, with everything you could need for a short break away in the peaks. Not too far from trails and tourist places. Welcoming and friendly owners. Hopefully make another visit soon!

Lovely little cottage.

Our stay at Cheese Press Cottage was fantastic. When we arrived the owners were very welcoming and accommodating towards us; once we had been shown to the cottage and everything explained our privacy was very well respected. The cottage was great and came with most modern conveniences including wifi. Located on a farm, surrounded by scenic views of the Peak District, its an ideal location for a quiet getaway or as a start/finish point for exploring the area but is close enough to local towns you don't feel isolated. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again myself.

Excellent cottage in lovely surroundings

This is a comfortable and well-appointed cottage with all that one/two people need for a relaxing stay in this beautiful area. The views are lovely and there are plenty of walks and places to see nearby. Jane and her husband were very welcoming and always quick to answer any query. I hope to come back again and would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a very pleasant home base for a stay in the Peaks.
