About the Owner

I was born in Buxton and moved to Pembrokeshire, where I still live, when I was three. I still have family in the Peak District and we decided to buy a cottage back in the village where my family has lived for generations. I work in health and social care with children and young people and have a family of my own.

Log burner kept the house really warm, well equipped and an excellent view just by stepping outside the door. Thank you.

Cottage

Very peaceful, everything you need ,only reason not five stars is you have to buy wood for wood burner, bit naughty really as paying good money per night anyway ,

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback and I'm pleased to see you were happy with the cottage. We do provide wood, kindling, paper and fire lighters for the stove but not an unlimited amount of wood so I'm sorry this was not sufficient or agreeable to you. We have made every effort to ensure our prices are very competitive for what is provided but will consider your feedback when we next review our prices.

Ideal quick get away

  • 5 of 5

Myself and a small group of friends stayed The Potting Shed for a quick weekend and had a great time. Small, but charming, the cottage was just what we were looking for. The caretaker was very helpful and the location is very convenient to access the surrounding towns. Great landing place if you are exploring the local country side.

Charming cottage with stunning view

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated, comfortable and well-equipped. Fiona and the caretakers couldn't have been more pleasant. A lovely space to just "be" and a great location to explore the district.

Lovely cosy cottage with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Have just spent two nights at the Potting Shed with my husband, two teenage girls and our dog. Had a lovely time, everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. Everything was provided, even down to dishwasher tablets and shower cream etc. There were flowers in the room, which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this property for a relaxing holiday. Our dog had a wonderful time with all the walks that he had. Hope to go back in the future. Thankyou Fiona.

Location

From the Owner

We love to visit Derbyshire to see family and friends and also to enjoy the stunning landscape. We are steadily working our way through different walks in the Peaks with our two dogs and enjoy finding new places. Derbyshire has so much to offer to the holiday maker and the location of the cottage affords tranquillity yet is close to the spa town of Buxton where there is always an event worth a visit.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Manchester at 75 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : The Angler's Rest, Millers Dale at 2 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Buxton at 7 Kilometres Nearest Train : Buxton at 7 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Buxton at 7 Kilometres Car: recommended

Chatsworth House is a 20 minute drive and well worth a visit. The Monsal Trail can be accessed at nearby Millers Dale and is great for walking or cycling. The spa town of Buxton is the nearest town for shops and amenities including the famous Opera House and Pavilion Gardens. For theme parks Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock is great for he younger family and for the more adventurous Alton Towers is about an hour away. The nearest swimming pools are in Buxton or visit the outdoor pool at Hathersage. For history lovers Eyam is a delightful village that has a tragic past and worth a visit. Throughout the summer months paying a visit to see a well dressing is a 'must do' activity. See Visit Derbyshire for a calendar of events.

Facilities

From the Owner

What we like most of all about the cottage is the beautiful location; it is full of character and is a great place to relax and enjoy outstanding views from the decking area. The log burner makes for a homely environment when it is cold outside. The bedrooms are either side of the living room which allows privacy for both occupants.
