About the property

Two sitting rooms, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. WiFi and UK TV channels

La Petite Maison has been lovingly restored over a number of years by the present owners, to create a home that is light and airy, whilst retaining its character. The house is full of charm, with traditional features including original stone walls, stone fireplace with log burning stove, solid oak beams and chestnut parquet flooring - but lots of modern features too. A well equipped kitchen, with everything you could need, including a range style electric cooker, dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer and even a wine fridge! There is a large collection of cookery books if you need inspiration.

Two sitting rooms, each furnished with comfortable sofas, a dining room with large oak table and six chairs and also a study area and desk on the first floor.

The flat screen TV has all Freeview channels, with a DVD player, and good selection of DVDs. A music centre, with iPod dock and a bookcase full of interesting books for you to borrow. There is WiFi available through the house and terrace.

The ground floor master bedroom has a king size bed, and an en suite bathroom, including brand new 'state of the art' walk-in shower with drenching shower, as well as a separate bath. A second shower room on the ground floor and 2 further bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed, and one with twin beds, as well as a spacious landing area. All bedrooms have electric fans and hair dryers.

The lovely garden surrounds the house on three sides, and is made up of lots of amazing areas - the stunning private pool, paved terraces, grass and flower beds, the boules pitch next to the shady arbour and a small orchard. Both the front and side entrance have drives for parking, and large gates to ensure your privacy and safety. There are areas to sit for morning coffee, a formal dining table under a gazebo and a comfortable sitting area under a vine covered pergola. As well as sunbeds and parasols set out by the pool, to make the most of the sunshine.

The house is looked after by a local English couple, who will ensure the house is clean on your arrival, with all beds made up and both bathroom towels and pool towels available for your use. There will be a 'welcome pack' of food for you, and a bottle of Bergerac wine and if you require, a hot meal on your arrival can be booked in advance.

About 1 mile is the village of Allemans (a pleasant walk from the house) with a local baker, and bar/restaurant. 10 minutes away is St Séverin, a larger village with a Spar supermarket (open Sunday morning) and a variety of local shops too. There is a coffee shop offering free WiFi as well as a hotel and restaurant. And 15 minutes away is the market town of Ribérac with it's interesting Friday market, and many other facilities including two large supermarkets, banks, post office, shops, restaurants etc. A 15 drive will take you to the stunning hillside town of Auberterre-sur-Dronne, (named as a 'Beau Village de France') with its wonderful restaurants, and a river beach for the family. A 40 minute drive will take you to the lovely medieval town of Perigueux, the capital of the Perigord.

There are many sporting activities within a short drive, for example golf, tennis, kayaking, cycling, swimming, horse riding and lots more. There are details of all attractions and activities in a folder at the house.

About Barry and Sue Eastham

Barry and Sue live in North Yorkshire, but both love France, especially the Perigord Vert. They have carefully restored La Petite Maison over a number of years, to create a special home in the sun. They love spending time there, working in the garden, or just relaxing by the pool. They enjoy the local food and wine of the region, with many good restaurants nearby. They have a favourite vineyard in the Bergerac region, and would encourage you to visit Chateau Laulerie, and be welcomed by Marine Dubard and her family.

Barry and Sue Eastham purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Barry and Sue Eastham chose Perigord Vert

La Petite Maison is situated in a delightful private garden, with ample private parking - but nearby are the wonderful sights of the Dordogne - beautiful countryside, ancient towns and villages, great wines, incredible local gastronomy, sports, rivers, lakes, beaches, castles, pre history, festivals and of course, wonderful sunshine!

beautifully equipped property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is our second holiday at La Petite Maison. The property is superbly equipped with beautiful gardens and patio areas plus of course the stunning pool.

The house was spotlessly clean with two excellent bathrooms.

The location is ideal for visiting rural towns as well Bordeaux.

Children can play safely as the grounds are secure with hedges and a gate.

Peaceful haven. A delightful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is one of my favourite places to visit. The quiet setting with secluded garden and pool makes it an ideal place to relax yet there are many things to do and see not far away. Walks of varying lengths right from the door are plentiful and the route to the nearby village to buy bread and croissants is easy and scenic. There are several restaurants to choose from in the surrounding area with comprehensive information at La Petite Maison to help you choose. The house, outside areas, pool and accommodation is delightful as can be seen in the photos so it was just as I had anticipated it would be.

I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful, lovingly cared-for house and will definitely look forward to returning again.

Beautiful spacious house in a tranquil setting

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed when we arrived at the property, from the outside it looked like a little french cottage but inside it was so spacious! It was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was so well equipped (even better than my kitchen at home!)

The garden, terrace and pool area were so private and quiet, we were so lucky to have some warm sunny days even at the end of October.

There was lots to see and do in the area and we enjoy lots of trips out exploring the beautiful french countryside.

I would definitely recommend this property, we hope to return again next summer.
