About the property

A beautiful 2 bed apartment, 7 minutes from beach and 10 steps from the pool.

Casa Azul is a prime location ground floor 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, air conditioned apartment within a secure gated swimming pool area on a quiet residential road.

Just 7 minutes' walk from the blue flag sandy beaches of the Mar Menor, the front of the apartment looks over parkland, and the rear terrace backs directly onto a large pool with a separate children's pool, making it ideal for sipping a cold glass of wine while keeping an eye on the children. Shops and dozens of restaurants are just a few minutes walk away and the nearest golf course is 2 kilometres.

Our apartment is a real home from home, with every detail thought of (hopefully!), the little things to make your stay wonderful, a 32" HD TV with 150 British TV and Radio Channels, a DVD player with a wide selection of DVDs, a Bluetooth speaker to connect to your music, and a dishwasher and washing machine to make your holiday just that little bit easier. We provide washing powder, dishwasher powder, kitchen basic ingredients and condiments as well as beach towels to save space in your cases. We have free Wifi unimited for you to use, and there is air conditioning in the main living area and both bedrooms.

Our apartment has terraces at the front and rear, meaning you get the sun all through the day, from breakfast in the front conservatory or front terrace, which can then be used for a little shade in the afternoon, and the rear terrace which gets the sun from lunchtime until the sun sets. A new awning installed in 2016 across the rear terrace ensures shade in the hot afternoons if you require it - fabulous for lunches in July and August. A Weber bar-be-que is provided for your year round use.

The bedrooms in the apartment are both a very good size, with double built in wardrobes. The king sized bed in the main bedroom has a mattress topper, and there is an air conditioning unit in that room too, plus the en-suite has a very large walk in shower with dual head. Bedroom 1 is quiet and is at the rear of the property and bedroom 2 is quiet also, looking over the palm tree park at the front of the property.

One of the reasons we fell in love with our apartment is that it is situated in an ideal location for whatever you want from your holiday.

Stroll across the park to the left and you reach the vibrant main square where there are many bars, restaurants and opportunities to sample cuisine from around the world, from Spanish Tapas and Mexican, to Indian and British.

Turn right out of the apartment and you head towards the historic old town, passing streets with Spanish children playing out, and Spanish families enjoying the summer evenings. Tapas a plenty is available in many of the restaurants in this quieter area, again only 10-15 minutes' walk.

Whichever direction you take, you are only ever a short stroll (less than 10 minutes) to the beaches and beach bars along the colourful promenade, and there is a great supermarket just 5 minutes from the apartment, with two others within 10 minutes.

Car hire is not needed in Los Alcázares due to the close proximity of all the amenities, but if you did want to explore the historic areas of Murcia and Cartagena, car hire would be recommended. Also a trip into the mountains around an hour away is worthwhile.

The Mar Menor is a Salt Water Lagoon, of around 128 sq km. Shallow, safe and warm, the sea on average is 5 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. The mineral rich water is said to have healing properties, and as such is listed by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places on earth.

Los Alcázares (pronounced Los Al-Katha-Res) has some of the best beaches in the Murcian region; many of them have been awarded "Blue Flag Status" from the Spanish Tourist board based on their cleanliness, safety and atmosphere.

With 7 km of flat wide promenade, and wide open beaches, it is only at the very height of the season that it gets more crowded, and even then, walking an extra 10 minutes will take you to quieter areas.

The apartment is just 5-7 minutes from Murcia (San Javier) Airport, but not under the flight path. It is around 50 minutes from Alicante Airport.

For children, buckets and spades, floats, pool toys, games, DVD's and more are all in the apartment ready for them to use. For the adults we have provided beach towels, beach chairs, an umbrella for the beach, cool box and ice packs for you to use, so you can really make the most of the area.

We live in Cheshire and have 2 daughters. With busy lives, we love the fact that we can use our property a few times a year to completely rest. The children love the close proximity to the beach and pool, and we love the close proximity to the supermarket and beach bars!

We are delighted to be able to share our Spanish home with other families.

Why Caroline and Peter Gowing chose Cartagena & Mar Menor

We spent two weeks in Los Alcazares in August 2014 and simply fell in love with it. With everything so close, and yet in such a quiet area, it was perfect for our family. We love the fact you can be there within 20 minutes of landing at the airport, and no car is needed.

We walked passed this apartment one day and saw the For Sale sign, and that started us thinking. We never looked at another apartment, as everything was perfect for us, and the fact that our children love swimming so much, it was great for them too! Now we have seen many other apartments, and realise just how lucky we were to find this one, with direct access to the pool, and such a quiet pool year round, we really did fall on our feet.

We love the Spanish feel on hot summer nights, groups of men playing ball games on the corner, children playing in roads and Spanish families outside to eat.

In the morning, the older Spanish can be found relaxing in the water of the Mar Menor, and the promenade is busy with walkers, runners and cyclists before it goes quieter in the heat of the way.

If you want quiet, you have it, if you want something more lively, you have it too, and all within such a short distance of our apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

Our two terraces, front and back, mean that whether you want sun or shade, you have it. We have furnished our apartment as a home, with home comforts, and as people who are used to renting self catering apartments, we felt that adding in things like beach towels, buckets and spades and washing powder for the washing machine would help those trying to squeeze extra things in their suitcase!

The 10 steps to the pool, while still having a large terrace is wonderful. The large hedge means that you have privacy while eating out, even if people are using the pool area.

Many of the apartments in our small complex are owned and not rented out, so the pool generally never gets very busy.

With excellent Wifi and air conditioning in all areas, which acts as heating in the winter months, the apartment is welcoming and comfortable at all times.

The apartment is ideal for beach, restaurants, supermarket, churro van!! From a self catering point of view, absolutely everything has been thought of to make the stay as stress-free as possible.



A week spent eating, drinking, relaxing, reading and enjoying different experiences. Dining is so varied but we loved San Antonio, and Asian Star.

Fabulous stay!

We have just returned from an 11 night stay in this wonderful apartment! Myself, my mum and my 4 year old daughter. The location was spot on for our needs, being very flat for walking to shops, restaurants etc. The pool just outside the gate was perfect. The very hot weather didnt let up so unfortunately the only downside was no air con in the front bedroom, and even with the suggestion of leaving door open and living room air con on was just not enough. But we havent marked it down as everything else was fab. Tania, Lee very helpful. And Caroline/Peter wonderful from the beginning. Thanks so much xx

It did sound as though you had a heatwave, but the second bedroom air conditioning is something we have been thinking about for a while, so we have booked for this to be installed next week, so we will now have full air conditioning throughout the apartment, which means heating in the winter months too. Just returned from this property, stayed here 3 times, would highly recommend. cant wait to go back, finally made it to the hemming ways restaurant at last, lovely meal, would definitely return, would advise to book a table beforehand . Amazing apartment and location

As many others have said the apartment is genuinely a home from home, the best we have ever stayed in. Decor tasteful, bright and clean everything you could need and more. Restaurants nearby excellent, lovely promenade and spotless pool.

The area is safe and the security in the apartment is first class.

Swimming in the warm Mar Menor water in the November sunshine is so relaxing. Caroline and Peter have put such thought into the apartment they have covered everything. We highly recommend Casa Azul and Los Alcazares and cannot wait to return. Thank you.

The price does not include cleaning, which is payable locally on arrival, at 60 Euros. Our rental price is lower to reflect this, and it is the best value way for us to price for you. If we add it onto our listing, Owners Direct charge an 8% service fee on top plus VAT.

We can arrange items such as high chairs, cots and welcome packs for an additional charge, please ask for details.
We can also arrange transport to and from the airport at 15 Euros each way.

Check in time 4pm, check out time 10am, however we can often be flexible, and are more than happy to extend this if we are able, so please do enquire.
