About Helen

We are a family who love visiting the Lake District. We first visited on our honeymoon, in 1988!

We enjoy the beautiful scenery and long walks over the fells and lake shores. We particularly enjoy the pub lunch and pint at the end of a walk.

Helen purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Helen chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We fell in love with Crake Cottage after owning a smaller property in the same village for several years. We wanted a place with more room for our family and friends to visit.

It is a very pretty village with two great pubs and friendly locals and is well positioned for easy access all areas of the Lakes, without being busy and over run with people. We hope you love it as much as we do

Beautiful

Beautiful, warm, cosy cottage.

Wonderful stay for my partner and I and our 4 dogs.

Fantastic shower after a hard days walking.

Home away from home kitchen and lounge to relax in.

And comfy beds for a brilliant nights sleep.

Had no problems parking our large 4 door pick up truck.

Easy to find and very short drive to the beach and many tourist attractions

10/10 - completely recommend

Lovely, warm and cosy cottage

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for the week prior to Easter and enjoyed lovely weather. The cottage is lovely, very cosy and well equipped, we had a great time, thank you.

Couple of things that could be improved however; parking is tricky, the space allocated is impossible to get into and the track up to the space is hard to navigate in a normal car. Parking in the village is fine but if you have elderly people with you/people unable to walk, it could be a challenge. The cottage is also right on the road, not immediately obvious from the pics; you just need to be careful when getting in and out of cars, shepherding dogs/kids in and out.

The cottage is homely and very comfortable, I would recommend and would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for the lovely review! I would just like to clarify for future visitors that although the parking space is not spacious, it is easily navigated with care even with a large car. We have regularly parked our large Audi Q7 with no problems and we have recently carried out more work on the drive to make it a little easier still. Also, the front door doesn’t open right onto the road, there is a small front garden with a sprung gate for extra safety. Once again thank you for the kind review and we hope to welcome you back to Crake Cottage in the near future.

Spark bridge Cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was lovely very quaint. The kitchen was well equipped and description as described. There is a coal fire which provided a lovely traditional feel and was very cosy.

Parking was a little difficult to access but didn't cause too much of a problem. The process to access the property was clear and simple. I would recommend a stay there to anyone it was located in a very small village and quiet location within short walking distance to two great pubs which provided excellent food and a friendly welcome.
