Large apartment with huge shared terrace in a wine village with vineyard views
Renovated in 2016 to the highest specifications this 1st floor apartment is modern and subtly decorated with a spacious living room, 32" TV, DVD player with lots of English films, dining table for 3 with mood lights, convertible sofa bed and side chair, French theme well equipped kitchen with induction hob and microwave, large walk in shower and lighted vanity with a place to put things (I hate not having a place to put things), PLUS an extra large bathtub in its own room, spacious bedroom with vanity and reading chair. Super comfortable large bed with upgraded mattress, fluffy towels and linens. Steps down to a shared large sunny terrace. WiFi.
Directly across the street is a traditional German bar/restaurant which is always full of laughter, merriment and wine. Within walking distance you can find wine cellars, a beautiful hotel directly around the corner, and many other dining opportunities (steak, pizzeria/italian/traditional/snackbar suitable for all budgets).
There are lots of festivals both in Urzig - the most famous being the Harley and Wein in early August when 1500 Harley Davidson riders party in our little town and tour the Mosel River We also have a brilliant wine festival both here and in the neighbouring towns on the River.
Urzig is located between Traben Trarbach and Bernkastel-Kues and just steps from the house you can take the river cruise in either direction - or stop and feed the swans.
For the adventurous you can hire a canoe, jet ski or even paraglide over the vineyards. Or simply hire a bicycle to ride the miles of flat paths along the River, or climb the hill to visit the Spice Garden - and enjoy the view while you are there.
Of course how about sampling the world famous wines from this region - Urzig has many wine cellars where you can sample the wine and then wander home without worrying about having one too many! We live on a street of wine makers!
If you love steaks, Urzig has the best restaurant with outdoor dining in the summer months. Italian, we have the best with a view to die for from their entire restaurant. Within 15 minutes drive you can be enjoying the health benefits of outdoor thermal baths in Traben-Trarbach (very fun in the Winter), or in the other direction you can enjoy a spa experience in Bernkastel. There is also an outdoor pool 10 minutes away along the river in Krov.
Speaking of Winter, this region is host to many wonderful Christmas markets including an underground one to keep you warm and toasty.
We offer you relaxation at the beginning and the end of each day and there are many choices for you to either be totally lazy in your comfortable accommodations or as active as you wish around our beautiful Mosel Valley.
One of two apartments - may be rented together for groups of 6. Urzig is featured on the FlyHahn website
We are home from home - we ourselves have suffered through many uncomfortable holiday accommodations! My mother-in-law told me "Never stay in a place which is less than you have at home" that is why we've renovated and decorated this apartment just the way we'd like to find it. We have stayed in many disappointing holiday apartments which bear no resemblance to the photos on the internet!!

About Lisa LaCount
I am British and my husband is American. We have identical twin sons aged 17 who play international level tennis. I grew up in England and moved to Belgium at age 21 and then to Germany. Always seeking adventure I then moved to California where I met my husband. Our sons were born in Phoenix, Arizona and when they were 11 we decided to bring them back to Europe. Since then we have lived in France and England and we purchased our home here in Germany 3 years ago as a lifetime dream of a renovation project.
Lisa LaCount purchased this apartment in 2012
Why Lisa LaCount chose Mid-Moselle
The are surrounding the Mosel River is spectacular. Our neighbors and their ancestors have been making wine for centuries. I always had a dream to renovate a property and when we found this house - even though it required a LOT of work - it was the first property we looked at.
There are many things to do here: river cruising, bicycling, walking, hang gliding (not for me), kanoe rentals, thermal spas, outdoor pool, tennis, wine tasting (a personal favourite), dining, shopping trips to Trier or Luxembourg, etc.
In our little part of Germany you can be lazy or sportif - your choice.

Lovely apartment in the middle of the valley
Great location in the middle of the beautiful Mosel Valley. The apartment is spacious, clean and comfortable just as in pictures. The village is simply bursting with Wine houses. There are several restaurants for different tastes in Urzig. The apartment is just set back from the Mosel cycle path. The river cruise boats stop at Urzig for boat trips to Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach. Travelling by train was inexpensive and straightforward, so we were able to go as far as Cologne and Boppard (Actually took boat from Cologne to Boppard, a great day out). Would recommend to friends or relatives.

Activity and Interests
We purchased the 1886 vintner's house 3 years ago and have just finished renovating the holiday apartments - to a very high standard (including lovely fluffy towels, a personal must have!). My Mother in law always told me to never stay in a place which is less than you have at home and I agree with her philosophy. We have stayed in many disappointing holiday apartments which bear no resemblance to the photos on the internet!!
As for things to do, you can be as active or passive as you wish. Starting in August and September we have LOTS of wine festivals, we have our own in Urzig as well as a spectactular one in neighbouring Bernkastel http://en.bernkastel.de/events/wine-festival-of-the-middle-moselle.html. You can take a boat from Urzig in either direction for a day trip. You can hire bikes or walk to an 11th century converted monastery http://www.klostermachern.de/bernkastel-kues/cms/front_content.php?idart=2&lang=1 for drinks and dinner plus visit the brewery.
Speaking of which Urzig has a couple of lovely restaurants, http://www.waldschenke-uerzig.de/ (you can walk but is a steep hike up the hill) or we have an excellent Italian restaurant with breathtaking views http://www.laterrazza-ristorante.de/Start3.htm.
You can soak in natural thermal waters in nearby Traben-Trarbach http://www.traben-trarbach.de/nextshopcms/show.asp?lang=en&e1=1060 or up in the Eiffel (less than 1 hour) http://www.bad-bertrich.de/en/fitness-and-vitality/vulkaneifel-thermal-spa or there's an outdoors heated swimming pool which is set next to the river with water slides etc in nearby Krov (open April-October).
I have sourced some lovely videos of the region:
