About the Owner

We are a family of four, with two young children aged 6 and 9. Paul is a business owner based in Bath and Breda also works for the business as well as looking after the children. Our children never tire of Instow and see the village as their home.

The house itself belonged to Paul's grandparents from new in the 1930s. Paul and his family spent most school, holidays in Instow. The house went out of the family 20 plus years ago but just by chance we managed to buy it back again in 2006. We hope to pass it onto our children as it provides us all with many many happy times.

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a most enjoyable stay. The house was impeccably furnished, with lovely modern artwork and sculptures. The kitchen was very well appointed with utensils, and we wanted for nothing. The location was awesome, and idyllic being so close to the beach. We had a very calm and relaxing break, and I would thoroughly recommend this house. Thank you.

Home from home, a well positioned house in a lovely location .

  • 5 of 5

Loved the property , great decor , comfortable beds and very clean . We thought Instow was fab as did the dog , we all enjoyed the dog friendly beach , which was a stones throw from the house . Great pubs in the village , all within walking distance as was the renowned John's Deli , chocolate brownies to die for !

Instow is great for exploring from , we loved the Tarka Trail and visiting Woolacombe, Hartland Quay to name but a few .

We certainly would like to visit again , just need to book the weather the only thing left to chance !!

Great location for a family beach holiday

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we were happy to find the property well presented and clean. It was wonderful to have a homely place to stay for my family including our dog. The best part was being such a short distance away from the sandy beach. We spent every day on the beach and our children loved exploring the sand dunes.

We used the car park at the other end of the village which only cost £15 for the week (which you buy at the village store). Although a few minutes from the property it just gave us another reason for a stroll on the beach if we wanted to get in the car and explore further afield.

We booked in advance for a Sunday lunch at the instow arms which I highly recommend as v popular, but we also had some great meals at the wayfarer inn which was just down the road from the property. The food was great and both accepted dogs.

The property itself was great to relax in, great little garden for chilling out on the patio furniture and the kids loved exploring all the toys and numerous DVDs that were available in the house. The owners were always quick to respond to any questions we had during the booking process and in the run up to our stay.

Would highly recommend if you want a quiet relaxing beach holiday and is in a good location if you wish to explore North Devon.

Fantastic stay in a fabulous house with great beach 2 minute walk

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here, there were two adults and three teenage children with my in laws coming for a couple of nights and it fitted us well. The house was very well equiped especially the kitchen, all those little extras like washing up liquid! Silly I know but so nice to have. The house was very clean and welcoming. The garden is small but well kept with a drying line and we sat out a couple of evenings. The location was superb for us as we also had two dogs. The local beach is very friendly for dog owners, with lovely shallows for paddling. Good place to eat along the front and the local shop John's is fantastic for fresh deli type food along with the staples. We took bikes and cycled along the Tarka trail to Great Torrington to the cafe and also going the other was to Barnstable. The only slight downsides were that there was limited mobile signal in the house so it was difficult for my husband to take those business calls and also the limited parking. The free parking is only for 2 hours meaning you have to move your car after this and hope to find a different location. This was easily overcome by using the car park approximately 5 minute walk away for £5 for 12 hours or £10 for 24hours, so this should be put into your budget. We really enjoyed our stay and the owners couldn't have been more helpful - even returning a much loved teddy we left in the house. Thank you so much.

Beautiful, peaceful home from home

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home from home. I have stayed in this amazing property several times now, once with my young family (three very energetic little people) and several times with friends. On all occasions we have had an amazing stay. The house lends itself to peaceful, relaxing evenings by the log burner and in the warmer months wine in the garden. The house has everything you need (better equipped than my home!) and is in an amazing location, perfectly placed to explore the beautiful beaches of North Devon. Beautifully clean, we will definately be going again.

Great Devon holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely holiday in Instow staying in craigwell villas. The location is perfect especially with 2 energetic boys (7&5yrs) as the beach is a safe and lovely place for them to let off some steam (dam building kept them entertained for hours while I relaxed and kept a watchful eye on the construction)

We enjoyed getting the ferry over to appledore to do some crabbing and have a lovely fish & chip supper. It's a great location to explore North Devon, we had lovely days out to hartland, clovelly and the big sheep (the children's highlight of their holiday) to name a few. Instow itself is like walking back in time, no slot machines lining the beach front here- just how I like it! a tranquil, friendly seaside town where you'll get many greetings walking along the beach, the local people clearly know how special it is.

The house is airy and extremely well appointed with tasteful decor. It's cosy but spacious and has everything we needed. We will definitely be trying to re-visit craigwell villas next We had a lovely holiday in Instow staying in craigwell villas.
