About Henrietta Kelly

David and Henrietta have been living in this area temporarily for 5 years. They were married 4 years ago and have decided to move full time to "The Garden of England".

They running courses for foreign adults and younger students who want to improve their English in the main house and offer 2 self catering cottages which are adjacent to the main house.

David has lived in Kent and London most of his life and loves gardening, playing tennis, walking and biking. Henrietta has lived in France and Chile

and also loves an active outdoor life much the same as David! They both love travelling and have visited Egypt, Morocco, Tanzania, India and many lovely places in Europe including France, Italy and Spain. We both speak French and Henrietta speaks Spanish too.

They very much enjoy the theatre and there is a great one in Canterbury called "The Marlowe Theatre". When they have time and at the end of the day they enjoy having a good read but usually fall asleep with the book.

They both enjoy good food but most of all using their local products. They are eager to have a good kitchen garden which they are both working on.

They would love to share their beautiful garden which is in a very tranquil spot and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are beautiful walks along many footpaths around the village and they are close to the sea side with a good choice of different types of beaches. They are also very close to Canterbury with its stunning cathedral and walled city and many other interesting historical sites including two "Cinques Port" towns of Sandwich and Dover, and Richborough Castle. There are the various golf courses in and around Sandwich, with Margate and Ramsgate also close at hand.

They would very much enjoy to welcome you to their home and share some of the secrets of Hidden Kent which they can reveal to our guests when they come and visit.

The cottage was situated in an ideal location allowing easy access to Kents attractions. Accommodation was comfortable and the owners very friendly and helpful. Plenty of good pubs locally. Would recommend the property and would return to explore more of Kent.

This cottage provides a wonderful peaceful environment to relax and recharge yet is situated in an area with much to see.

Great care has been taken to provide all you could need in a holiday let and Henrietta left a very thoughtful and generous welcome food pack which was much appreciated. Highly recommended.

Great location, comfortable and enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week over May half term with our two children. The weather was not good but we had a great holiday. The location of the cottage is ideal with lots of things to see and do nearby. Henrietta and John are very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for the locally made treats left for us. The cottage is in a very quiet location and is very private. The bird songs is very relaxing.

Tranquil cottage, ideally situated

  • 5 of 5

We drove down from London, stopping off on the way to visit Chartwell. Henrietta was waiting for us at the cottage with a smile, lots of local info and two glasses of Prosecco. Excellent showers, comfortable beds. We spent a week exploring the East of the county. Sandwich and Whitstable were our favourite towns and the Turner Contemporary gallery (Margate) and the vintage shops nearby were interesting to browse. Steak night at the local pub (Tuesday) was excellent value. Canterbury Cathedral is a definite must-see (good Park and Ride at Sturry) and the punting trips on the Stour look like fun.

Lovely cottage, warm welcome. Many thanks. John and Karen (Dinan, France)
