Just across the lane from the cottage in the hamlet of Llandefaelog and perched on the banks of the river is the tiny church of St. Maelog, parts of which date back to Celtic times.

Just perfect!

What an absolute delight this little cottage is. Set in a beautiful location, not too far from the Brecon Hills. Quiet (apart from the crows, this time of year; to be expected as they make their nests), and scenic. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. We didn't eat out, preferring to cook for ourselves, except for Sunday lunch which we found in a very unusual place - La Bodega, Spanish restaurant, in Dowlais, near Merthyr Tidfyll. Log burner was much appreciated, as was the underfloor heating upstairs and downstairs! Lovely little touches, that made our stay most welcome. Thanks

Great cottage - nicely furnished and well equipped. Just out Brecon so plenty of shopping etc. and a good base to explore the area.

Idyllic getaway in a delightful location

  • 5 of 5

A charming cottage in a peaceful location. It is amazing falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the river outside the cottage and it is situated in a quiet road just about 3 miles from the centre of Brecon and across the lane to a charming old church. The cottage has everything you need for a short break in the countryside - the whole place is well furnished and the log burning stove is a wonderful touch. Very comfortable beds and a superb shower and bathroom. The kitchen is well kitted out with dishwasher, cooker, toaster, coffee maker and washing machine. We only prepared breakfast each day but everything was there to enable us to prepare a full meal. I can't recommend this idyllic cottage enough for a break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life! Thanks Sally and James for being amazing hosts.
