About the property

Modern 1 bed apartment in a wine village with vineyard views, sleeps 3

One of two apartments - may be rented together for groups of 6. Urzig is featured on the FlyHahn website My mother-in-law told me "Never stay in a place which is less than you have at home" that is why we've renovated and decorated this apartment just the way we'd like to find it. We have stayed in many disappointing holiday apartments which bear no resemblance to the photos on the internet!!

Renovated in 2016 to the highest specifications this ground floor apartment is modern and colourfully decorated with a spacious living room, 42" TV, DVD player with lots of English films, modern dining table, convertible sofa bed and side chair, modern well equipped kitchen with flat top hob and microwave, large walk in shower and lighted vanity with a place to put things (I hate not having a place to put things), spacious bedroom with additional convertible sleeper sofa and reading chair which leads out on to the massive, sunny (shared) terrace. Super comfortable bed with mattress topper, fluffy towels and linens. WiFi.

Directly across the street is a traditional German bar/restaurant which is always full of laughter, merriment and wine. Within walking distance you can find wine cellars, a beautiful hotel directly around the corner, and many other dining opportunities (steak, pizzeria/italian/traditional/snackbar suitable for all budgets).

There are lots of festivals both in Urzig - the most famous being the Harley and Wein in early August when 1500 Harley Davidson riders party in our little town and tour the Mosel River We also have a brilliant wine festival both here and in the neighbouring towns on the River.

Urzig is located between Traben Trarbach and Bernkastel-Kues and just steps from the house you can take the river cruise in either direction - or stop and feed the swans.

For the adventurous you can hire a canoe, jet ski or even paraglide over the vineyards. Or simply hire a bicycle to ride the miles of flat paths along the River, or climb the hill to visit the Spice Garden - and enjoy the view while you are there.

Of course how about sampling the world famous wines from this region - Urzig has many wine cellars where you can sample the wine and then wander home without worrying about having one too many! We live on a street of wine makers!

If you love steaks, Urzig has the best restaurant with outdoor dining in the summer months. Italian, we have the best with a view to die for. Within 15 minutes drive you can be enjoying the health benefits of outdoor thermal baths in Traben-Trarbach (very fun in the Winter), or in the other direction you can enjoy a spa experience in Bernkastel. Or how about swimming in a volcano? There is also an outdoor pool 10 minutes away along the river in Krov.

Speaking of Winter, this region is host to many wonderful Christmas markets including an underground Weihnachtsmarkt to keep you warm and toasty.

We have the relaxation at the beginning and the end of each day and there are many choices for you to either be totally lazy in your comfortable accommodations or as active as you wish.

We are home from home - we ourselves have suffered through many uncomfortable holiday accommodations!

About Lisa LaCount

I am British and my husband is American. We have identical twin sons aged 17 who play international level tennis. I grew up in England and moved to Belgium at age 21 and then to Germany. Always seeking adventure I then moved to California where I met my husband. Our sons were born in Phoenix, Arizona and when they were 11 we decided to bring them back to Europe. Since then we have lived in France and England and we purchased our home here in Germany 3 years ago as a lifetime dream of a renovation project.

We have renovated the holiday lets to the highest standards. We ourselves would be delighted to spend time in them. Over the years we have spent a lot of money for holiday apartments only to be disappointed upon arrival. Either the beds are uncomfortable, the sofa is uncomfortable, the towels are hard, the rooms are miserably small, the TV came across with Noah's Ark...

We set out to offer a home from home and we are proud of what we have accomplished.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the village of Urzig and the surrounding area. I love to walk and my husband loves to bicycle. This was the first house we saw when we started looking and we both new it was the one. We have spent the past 3 years renovating the holiday apartments and we are proud of our achievements.

We enjoy beautiful views of the vineyards and just around the corner is the Mosel River. Our recreation time finds us bicycling to the local villages for a drink or dinner and our sons bicycle to their local tennis club.

The house dates back to 1886 and was a vintner's house, we even have the wine barrels in the cellar!
