About the property

Weir Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Welcome to Weir Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish Cotswold holiday rentals.

Please click More Details to read about the House Rules.

Weir Cottage is a traditional Cotswold stone cottage, located in the heart of the famous market town of Bourton-on-the-Water, affectionately referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", due to the beautiful river that meanders through the heart of the town. Bourton itself has plenty to appeal to visitors, including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as being ideally located for exploring the other many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath.

The cottage has traditional character features, including wooden beams and doors, and a lovely real fire, which are complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a well presented kitchen and a beautiful family bathroom.

Weir Cottage sleeps a maximum of four people, in two bedrooms, with a family bathroom and a separate WC. There are lovely garden areas to the front and rear of the cottage and there is off-street parking for two/three cars, a major advantage in Bourton-on-the-Water. The property is ideal for couples or friends looking for a lovely cottage for a relaxing break, in one of the best loved market towns in the Cotswolds.

Lovely cottage in a great location

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cottage situated in the heart of Bourton on the Water, and ideally placed for discovering the neighbouring attractions. The property is cosy yet well-equipped, and the owner was helpful and considerate both before and during our stay.

Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton.

The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames.

There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations.

Car: Bourton-on-the-Water is located next to the A429 (Fosse Way) and is easily accessed by car.

Train: The nearest railway station to Bourton-on-the-Water is Kingham (approximately 8 miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately 90 minutes.

Plane: Birmingham International Airport: 48 miles, approximately 60 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 74 miles, approximately 80 minute drive.
