We are an Australian couple with 2 grown up sons. We have always loved France and all things French and it has long been our dream to own a property in the south of France so that we can visit more often and live like a local. By offering the property as a holiday rental we hope that others will experience and enjoy this beautiful part of the world as much as we do.

Michelle and Michael de Rooy purchased this house in 2014

Lovely house to stay in and great to be in the village as we have always stayed 20 minutes walk away before. We love St Antonin and hope to return again soon.

A charming village house in a great location

  • 4 of 5

St Antonin is an architectural gem in a lovely setting. Don't miss the Sunday market. There are great views and good walks from the town. There is a useful walk book in the house. There are a number of restaurants in easy walking distance, some with river views, and others with interesting outside patios. The restaurants are mainly very ordinary in quality and probably overpriced by French standards but the locations make up for it. There are other villages and small towns to visit nearby if you get restless. The Chateaux at Montricoux is interesting for art lovers. If you go to Montricoux, the restaurant on the round-about on the D115 at the other side of the river is good for lunch and full of French business people so go early to get a table. The bar at Montricoux itself no longer does lunch. Bruniquel and Penne and Cordes and Narjac are all worth visiting and are very much on the Tourist trail.

On a practical note, there is now a good supermarket in St Antonin; cross the river and turn right and it is a few hundred yards down next to the petrol station.

This typical village house is wonderfully located in a quiet position with good views yet very near to everything. It has a pleasant patio off the kitchen which is probably at its best in the summer heat for outdoor eating. The kitchen is cool and pleasant and well equipped and off it there is a toilet, and a utility room with a washing machine. The first floor lounge is comfortable, open plan, with stairs going up and down, and the bathroom and balcony are just off it. The wifi was very good and the desk in the lounge was perfect for the laptop. On the second floor there are two small bedrooms with soft beds. There is not enough room for wardrobes and not much room to move about in but there are drawers and hangers on hooks for clothes. The only disadvantage of the house for me was the steep stairs down from the bedrooms to the bathroom - not good for a half-asleep elderly gentleman with a weak bladder. I yearned for a sofa bed in the lounge!

Comfortable stay in charming house

  • 5 of 5

Our family, two adults and three children had a wonderful week in St Antonin Noble Val soaking up the village atmosphere and visiting nearby medieval villages. Our house was spotless on arrival and was furnished in wonderful rustic style. It had all modern comforts. I enjoyed preparing meals in the well appointed kitchen and eating the wonderful local produce in the courtyard/terrace. The house is a two minute walk from the bakery for your morning baguette and a two minute walk from the village square where you can enjoy an evening drink. The view from the house onto the countryside is beautiful. I would recommend this house to friends and relatives with one caveat. The stairs which is a traditional wooden stairs is quite steep and would not suit families with toddlers.

Wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I were lucky enough to enjoy a magical week in St Antonin staying at this wonderful property. The town house is centrally located to the village centre and is very well appointed with all the creature comforts and more provided. The furnishings make the stay very homely and welcoming. Highly recommended.

The house is located within the ramparts of St Antonin Noble Val, a 13th Century medieval town & voted as one in the top 3 most beautiful villages in France ~ just over 1 hour from Toulouse and the International Airport).

The stunning location speaks for itself - with the feature film 'THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY' starring Helen Mirren, being filmed in & around St. Antonin Noble Val (as was 'CHARLOTTE GREY' starring Kate Blanchett)

Also within striking distance also the beautiful villages / towns of Najac, Albi, Cordes sur Ciel.

This beautiful area of south-west France is steeped in history with bastide towns & villages & the wine growing regions nearby.

Offering a quiet relaxing holiday for those interested in wonderful scenery, unspoiled French charm and excellent markets, food and drink.

Peace and tranquility surround you but for those more active, there are many sporting activities nearby including tennis, golf, rock-climbing, equestrian centres, tree walking, fishing and canoeing.

Cycling is extremely popular in this part of France - VTT (mountain bike) cycle routes of varying lengths & degrees of intensity are clearly marked throughout the region, giving you some incredible views & sights en route. The best time for serious cyclists is out of main season, ie May / June & Sept / October, when temperatures are more agreeable.

The region is extremely popular with ornithologists, naturalists, photographers.
