Chic cottage

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, grand daughter and I loved staying in this beautifully equipped cottage and were sad to leave. It was very clean and only two minutes from the centre of Holt, but very quiet. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and we especially enjoyed the fizz!! We would definitely come again. We were there for the 40's weekend in Sheringham and would recommend it, as well worth going to. We also enjoyed the steam train ride to Sheringham. Although no allocated parking we didn't have a problem at all.

Cottage with a good location.

  • 3 of 5

Location was very good - easy walk into town. We love Holt, lots of individual shops and art galleries.

Interesting architecture and pretty walks.

Easy drive to spectacular coast (Holkham beach and Cley Marshes) and lots of charming villages and small market towns.

The property was clean and well maintained.

We didn't feel that the description was as accurate as it might have been - 'Towels supplied' - only one bath towel per person and one very small hand towel between us!

We have always been supplied with at least one bath towel and one hand towel each, and tea towels and hand towel for the kitchen when we have stayed elsewhere - we bought hand towels (from a very nice man in Bakers and Larners in town) and after many emails non - absorbent tea towels were supplied the day before we left!

The twin bedroom did not contain 'twin beds', but a 'day bed' and a 'camp bed' really only suitable for children . . .

As commented on by another review, the kitchen would benefit from a small microwave.

The bathroom would benefit from a blind for the shower window and a hook within reach of the shower

for a towel.

I would recommend the property for its location and generally good communication with the owner.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments and we're glad that you enjoyed your stay over all. We are sorry that the usual tea towels weren't left for you, if only we'd realised the omission sooner! Your other comments regarding additional towels are useful and we'll consider increasing the provision. I would like to reassure any prospective guests reading this that the beds in the 2nd bedroom are both full sized single beds with proper mattresses and are certainly not camp beds! Whilst the beds are primarily used by children, they are also suitable for adults. Thanks again and we hope that stay with us again next time you visit Holt.

A very pretty cottage right in the centre of Holt. Exactly as described and with so much more.

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated cosy Norfolk Cottage in a superb position in the centre of Holt. Wonderful helpful owners who make you feel so welcome. All the coastline of North Norfolk is within easy reach and it was so lovely to come back to the comfort of the cottage at the end of a busy day. Holt itself is charming with great shops and eating places and to be within walking distance of it all was fantastic. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Very good cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in North Norfolk for 4 days and this was an excellent base to work from - being Holt the North Norfolk Railway was on our door step, plus Blakney, Holkham etc not too far away. Holt is somewhat like Southwold with its many fine shops and classy restaurants but nevertheless a lovely town.

The cottage - this was pleasantly and tastefully decorated with a good kitchen. Upstairs the beds were comfortable and the addition of the wood burner and WiFi were useful on evenings in.

We never met the owner (Jenny) but had excellent and prompt replies to our emails/texts. Some additions or improvements could be:

~ Microwave in kitchen - we had a 2 year old so this would have been useful but appreciate there was not much more space.

~ The cottage was cold underfoot downstairs so would recommend slippers or indoor footwear (as mentioned to us prior our visit), especially the bathroom which perhaps an electric heater would be good to get some heat first thing in the morning!

Overall an excellent cottage which we look forward to returning too perhaps one day in the future. Gifts and supplies on arrival was a nice touch so would recommend this cottage as a great place to stay.

Nice but cold!

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was in a good location but due to a few mishaps in communication concerning how to access the property it was extremely cold when we arrived. There was no kindling or firelighters there so the first task was to go and buy these and it took at least a day and a half to get the temperature up to a bearable level. Perhaps this would all have been very different if the caretaker had been informed of our arrival time?

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry that there wasn't any kindling or firelighters waiting for you on arrival, we do usually leave them as part of our welcome pack so that you can get the fire going straight away. I think there must have been a miscommunication about your arrival time for which I can only apologise. I really hope that the rest of your stay was enjoyable and that you enjoyed everything that the house, local area has to offer.
