About the property

Bedrooms 3, Bathrooms 2, Sleeps 7

In the Medieval hill town of Calvi dell'Umbria, this stone village farmhouse, looking across the rolling green hills of beautiful Umbria, has been converted with care to a cozy and welcoming family vacation home with pool. In an idyllic setting, perched on the side of the village it clings to the hillside. A sitting room has an inviting, wood-burning fireplace for year-round holidays. The kitchen opens to the outside and is fully equipped with dishwasher, large fridge, and everything you will need for cooking great Italian meals. There is dining for up to 8 inside, and two tables for dining outside, one next to the pool, one on the terrace. Outside, in the summer, you will find a lovely little lawn with a refreshing pool and a stunning view of the rolling hills of the Umbrian Countryside. Sun beds await you through a little gate in a space designed to capture the sun.

The house has 3 bedrooms, and one bed-sitting room which can double as a study. The living room has two comfortable sofas in classic white, Terracotta floors, and a fireplace for spring and fall evenings. In total, there is 1 Queen bed, and 5 single beds. There are 2 bathrooms with showers, a practical kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, fridge, and stove, and a dining table, large enough to hold 6 comfortably, and an extra with a squeeze. Outdoors, there is a stone barbecue and pizza oven, a walled garden, a dining terrace, and a Solarium with sun-beds. There is a second dining table in the garden. The pool is in the garden, just steps from the back door. Though you are within the Medieval village, all is very private, with views of the rolling hills of the Umbrian Countryside.

Calvi dell'Umbria is near many special places full of art, history, and nature. It is near to Narni, Todi, Orvieto,Deruta, Amelia, Terni, Viterbo, and Orte, and further away, Assisi and Perugia. Umbria is a great spot for a vacation any time of the year - as beautiful as Tuscany, and in fact, even better as it is not over-crowded with tourists. Enjoy wonderful food and local specialties, wine from the region, and excellent olive oil from the neighboring farms. Search for the various monasteries built high in the hills. Discover the local festivals in medieval streets, or take picnics up into the woods and relish the stunning vistas. And another great feature? Only 45 minutes from Rome!! And Rome's Airports.A Perfect place for family Holidays, for old and young alike.

Children will love the pool and adults, the charm of this typical Medieval, hill-town, and its convenience to Rome either by car or train.

Medieval Umbria Country House with Private Pool & Great Views
average rating of 5.0 based on 8 reviews

A spacious house in a medieval town, fantastic views and a swimming pool, can't ask for more!

Although Calvi is a bit remote, it is ideal for a relaxing holiday. This house is fantastic and well equipped and sits a 5 min walk from the centre. There is only one restaurant in Calvi but it is very good. The bar in the town square is great for sitting and relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening and is very cheap (2euro a glass).

There is plenty to visit but car essential. Narni is beautiful and the waterfalls beyond Terni a good day out.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing a review. We are so glad that you enjoyed the house and the town. Both as, you say, perfect for a relaxing holiday. As you know, for those who want to relax less, we offer a long list of touring options and sites to visit, restaurants to enjoy, in beautiful Umbria, a region rich in history, culture , and beautiful countryside. Thank you for staying with us and for writing. Susan Doull and the Commendable Rentals Team

It was absolutely great - the house, the town, the countryside. Everything I was hoping for.

My family of 6 sat on the patio for hours and chatted and drank wine and watched the olives grow......just what we wanted. No big touristy vacation but rather a quiet Italian town and local restaurants and gelato every evening on the town plaza. The house was lovely and the only issue was we had to buy water because no one drank the local town water....but no big deal.
