Spa Cottage sits in Braithwaite, a pretty Lakeland village in the North Lakes tucked between Grisedale Pike and Skiddaw where the unspoilt Newlands Dale joins the Valley of Derwent. The cottage stands in a row of old stone cottages dating back to the early 19th century at the side of the Coledale beck. Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent are within 5 minutes and the Valleys of Borrowdale, Buttermere and the Whinlatter Forest (Go Ape/Mountain bike trails) are close by. The village store carries a comprehensive range of grocery products, newspapers and off licence goods. The Coledale, The Middle Ruddings and The Royal Oak pubs (all in the village and within walking distance) serve excellent food and children are welcome.

Broadband and Wi-Fi is connected and free. Private rear garden. A warm cottage heated by storage radiators with a wood burning stove in the living room for cold evenings. Summer (April-Sept) changeover day Saturday. October-March short breaks also available (Sat-Tues or Tues-Sat) - contact owners directly for relevant prices.

Outside: Pretty lakeland slate patio garden to the rear, complete with garden furniture. Beyond this is a further paved area with communal drying facilities plus fuel store and bin area. To the front is a small garden part paved and planted with bench seat to watch the world go by. Utility Room: Under stairs store room with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and vacuum cleaner.etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is included in the rental price and for longer term rentals (more than 7 days) fresh linen is provided weekly. Bath mat and tea towels are provided. Towels are not included. Bedding is not provided for the travel cot. Other: Separate dinning room.

A great base for exploring

Lovely cottage, very well equipped and comfortable, It made a great base to explore the Lake District. Three pubs/restaurants in the village as well as the Village Shop (directly opposite) which sold everything we needed. It meant we could breakfast in the cottage, out all day and then wander along to the pub in the evening. I think our dog would like to have stayed longer ! .Overall an absolutely splendid week and highly recommended.

Lovely old cottage beautifully restored.

A typical Lakeland cottage in a superb location for walking and access to Keswick.

The cottage has been beautifully restored with oak floors and furniture, and was very cosy with storage heaters and a superb wood burner.

The kitchen was was lovely and well equipped as was the bathroom with a double ended bath, superb for a soak after a good walk in the hills.

The village shop was just over the road and the pub serving good food was just round the corner.

We enjoyed our short break and wished it had been longer as we felt really at home in the cottage. We will return!

Beautiful cottage in a stunning village

Spent the weekend in this lovely cottage in Braithwaite. Beautifully furnished and warm and cosy just what we needed for a break in early March. Spotlessly clean, well maintained and cared for, with little extra touches, information on walks, it had a real 'home from home' feeling. It was extremely clean and well maintained and was exactly as it had appeared on the photos. Communication with the owner was excellent. Oh and I forgot to mention the great pub 2 minutes walk away where we had a lovely meal accompanied by our golden retriever. We'll be back!

It is possible to do many walks from the cottage without having to drive first. Some are as follows:

Approx 1000ft – Barrow, Sail and Coledale. Whinlatter forest, Seat How and the Lords Seat.

2000-3000ft – Coledale Horseshoe and Skiddaw.

All these and many more can be done on a circular walk.

The Whinlatter centre has a unique play trail for children as well as its renown purpose built red Altura and blue quercus mountain bike trails
