Spa Cottage in Braithwaite, Nr. Keswick, Northern Lake District, Cumbria

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
Cottage in Braithwaite, Nr. Keswick, Lake District, Cumbria, England

Spa Cottage sits in Braithwaite, a pretty Lakeland village in the North Lakes tucked between Grisedale Pike and Skiddaw where the unspoilt Newlands Dale joins the Valley of Derwent. The cottage stands in a row of old stone cottages dating back to the early 19th century at the side of the Coledale beck. Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent are within 5 minutes and the Valleys of Borrowdale, Buttermere and the Whinlatter Forest (Go Ape/Mountain bike trails) are close by. The village store carries a comprehensive range of grocery products, newspapers and off licence goods. The Coledale, The Middle Ruddings and The Royal Oak pubs (all in the village and within walking distance) serve excellent food and children are welcome.

Broadband and Wi-Fi is connected and free. Private rear garden. A warm cottage heated by storage radiators with a wood burning stove in the living room for cold evenings. Summer (April-Sept) changeover day Saturday. October-March short breaks also available (Sat-Tues or Tues-Sat) - contact owners directly for relevant prices.

'Our first visit to lovely 'Spa Cottage' and we most certainly hope this will not be our last...after the total refurbishment after the devastating floods the cottage is most beautiful...new decor, suite and other furnishings give it a light, airy feel...most comfortable and relaxing'

Great place..owners have thought of everything. Tastefully decorated, spacious, wood burning stove, bath and comfy bed...you can walk up the hills from the house, cycle round the lake, shop in Keswick and then walk to 3 great pubs nearby for drinks and food...and you can bring your dog 🐺🐾couldn't ask for better...will def be back 😀

Perfect cottage in an ideal location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Spa Cottage. It has been beuatifully refurbished and had everything we needed for a weeks stay in the Lakes. The photos don't really do it justice! Location perfect for us, a small friendly village with walks on the door step and a couple of local pubs plus the Village Store across the road - all within a stine's throw of Keswick. Beautiful part of the world and would definitely recommend Spa Cottage as a base.

Cosy and relaxing in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have just enjoyed an exceptional week in the Lakes - exceptional because it didn't rain once, but also exceptional because this is the nicest property we've ever stayed in in the region!

The house is in perfect condition, you would never know it had been flooded, and was very clean and comfortable. The (extremely effective) burner was a welcome plus, although the house was cosy already.

It proved a great base for exploring the area, with lovely walks nearby (like Blencathra) and even from the house (Coledale Horseshoe).

We enjoyed visiting the two local pubs and treated ourselves to a special meal at the Ivy House on the last night - but mainly we enjoyed cooking for ourselves in the well-equipped kitchen.

Definitely recommended!

Quaint cottage in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

Immaculate maintained cottage well located for visiting Keswick and the northern lakes area. We took our 2 grandchildren who loved walking along the riverside and trips to Winlatter Forest trails and Derwentwater. Nice village shop close by which stocked everything needed. The cottage had everything for a comfortable stay with nice furnishings. Good compact kitchen and private enclosed garden which was a sun trap. Would highly recommend.
