Guestbook comments from the owner

Stayed here for 7 nights knowing little about the town but to use as a base - found the apartment perfect - sympathetically done and had a warm feel - ideal to come back to - furnishings lovely and comforable, felt spacious, good heating given the time of year and the kitchen one that caters well to "eat in" with great country table + 2nd floor lounge as a great TV room if that way inclined. The location was literally 20 steps from the centre of the village and this is a proper village, not toursit village but with charm and all you need - Boulangeries/gift/clothes/Boucherie + supermarket - great history in the town + lovely river wlk - it offered far more than we thought. In summary loved the total package here - hosts Nicki + Clive most obliging - only slight let down was that main bed was double not queen to allow more space but compensated by a choice of beds!

A beautiful character property, with lots of stairs!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful town house, in a beautiful town, in central France. The property is well equipped with utensils and a very important (for us) dishwasher and wifi! We we're there for the Olympics and being avid athletics fans the sky tv was fantastic but not something we would normally be bothered about! There is an essential washing machine if you are visiting the numerous lakes in the area, the only slight down side is the outdoor space is very small, however it does have washing line and an airer so you can get the washing dry. The property was very clean, in keeping and a welcome pack on the table to see us through our first night including, coffee, wine and bread!

The house does not have air conditioning and does not need it even though it was up to 38oC when we were there. The very thick walls and traditional shutters keep the house beautiful and cool, although the top room (3rd floor) does still get a little warm! There is a spacious family bathroom on the 2nd floor and a smaller shower room on the 1st floor.

The location is fantastic, the town house is in the centre of Eymoutiers, close to bars, restaurants and shops, although you have to remember shops close for lunch-and Sunday trading is only until lunch time-this helps you adapt to the pace of life-slow and relaxed. There is a small, well maintained park with a playground suitable for children within 5 minutes walk.

Eymoutiers is close to many of the great (not in size) lacs, Vassiviere, Sainte Helene, Chateauneuf la Foret and Treignac and has an outdoor pool which is very cheap, 1.50 euros for children and 3 euros for adults-however gentlemen don't forget you Lycra swim wear (Speedo style)-baggy shorts are not permitted!!

A car is essential in this area to see the many and varied beautiful towns, lakes and tourist attractions, the roads are so quiet though it is really easy and not at all stressful.

The owners were kind and helpful, they sent plenty of information prior to arrival but pretty much left us alone when we were there, responding to a couple of emails I sent, but not bothering us. I met Nicki on the last day and she was lovely! She very kindly returned a well loved dinosaur and some valuables that we left when we dashed off to the airport and left them behind.

A fantastic family holiday in a great property.

Superbe maison

  • 5 of 5
