Apartment in Cabanas de Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - close to the beach

Fortaleza is situated on the edge of Cabanas village, with the village of Conceicao and Benamor golf course a 5 minute walk inland. The air-conditioned first floor apartment has a bedroom (2 persons), a large living/dining room with a double sofa bed (2 persons), a sun terrace and secure parking. Cabanas is a fishing village and beach resort in the unspoilt Eastern Algarve just 4kms from the historic town of Tavira. The area boasts numerous blue flag beaches which are accessed via water taxi, ferry or land train (Cabanas included), all have white sand clear water and plenty of space. The village has numerous restaurants and snack bars together with all the amenities you would expect: supermarkets, ATMs etc. Transport links are excellent with the train station and bus stops just a 2 minute walk. There are a further 4 golf courses within 20mins drive. Part of Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, the area is of interest to walkers, birdwatchers etc.

Cabanas de Tavira

We really found the Eastern Algarve by accident in late 2015. We have previously stayed at a number of coastal resorts on the Western Algarve over a number of years, however, if you want a quiet, relaxing, and peaceful holiday, do try the Eastern Algarve.

We have now visited the above resort three times in the past 12 months, twice staying at the Cabanas Gardens, at a property owned by Nathalie and Filip.

The modern apartment is immaculate and has all the facilities you could wish for. There is a lovely pool, which is well maintained, as is the poolside sun bathing area. We have been met at the Faro airport by Nathalie one occasion and found suitably priced taxis that we have arranged from the UK on other occasions. The owners have left a couple of bottles of wine (1 from their vineyard) and a bottle of water in the fridge by way of a welcome gesture, which has been well received by us. This typifies the welcoming nature of those resident, in this area. Always very friendly atmosphere and welcoming experience.

You do not need a car if you are staying In Cabanas. Small supermarkets, restaurants and cafes are within easy walking distance. (The cobbled streets and pavements may prove troublesome if you are infirm, but are passable with patience). Within a 20 minute walk is the Conceicao railway station and regular trains at very modest prices can transport you to the Spanish border or back to Faro and beyond.

The beaches are fantastic. Miles of fine golden sandy beaches. On the 2 occasions we used the apartment, late June / July and late Sep/Oct 2016, the beaches were deserted. You can walk for miles, and we did. The small ‘water taxi’ across to the beach, is, in itself and novelty and only 1.50 Euros return.

We have found the dining experience in Cabanas a very pleasant one. Once again, welcoming, and modest prices in restaurants and cafes with a good standard of food everywhere we ate. Drinks of all kinds are really good value in local bars and cafes.

Can’t fault this apartment or the area and we shall return in 2018.

Fantastic apartment , fantastic location

We are just back from a fabulous holiday in Cabanas. This apartment was perfect, in a lovely complex and only a 2 minute walk from the boardwalk. The pool area is very attractive with a nice sized pool and baby pool. The apartment itself is very well equipped overlooking the pool. At first we were a little concerned that the terrace was so open, but they are long enough that your neighbours aren't on top of you. We have a baby so were out on the terrace every night and we had the place to ourselves! Also , the sofa bed is extremely comfortable so it it was as good as having a 2 bed place.

The owners were very helpful and left us a couple of delicious wines from their own vineyard, which were very welcome on the night of our late arrival.

I would definitely recommend this apartment, the complex and beautiful Cabanas.

Gorgeous apartment

You could not wish for a more beautiful and spacious apartment, comfortable and modern with all amenities included. A lovely swimming pool and only a short walk to the boardwalk to get boat to beach. All in all a great holiday, will definitely be back.

Coast/Beach:

900mts to the beach and boulevard.Cabanas beach is reputed to have the warmest water in the area, and is accessed via a water taxi. Completely unspoilt the beach stretches as far as the eye can see. It has umbrellas and loungers for hire, snack bars and shower/wc facilities. It is a leisurely 10 minute stroll to the waterfront. Other beaches in the area include Ilha de Tavira, Barrill and Manta Rota, all equally as good. Forte do Rato, a new discovery for us, is recommended for children, tidal,

Travel:

Faro Airport is around 40kms from the apartment.The airport has no rail link. Rail travel is cheap & convenient, with the station a 5 minute walk, giving access to all major towns along the Algarve. Bus services are frequent with the nearest stop 2mins walk. For those wishing to explore, a car is recommended, the best beaches are not accessible by train or direct bus services. A road train operates from the end of the road during peak season.

Distances:

900mts to the beach and boulevard, restaurants, bars, shops. Golf very nearby. Close by [with train] Tavira and Vila Real de San Antonio on the Guadiana river. Ferry to Ayamonte [Spain]. Boat trips on the Guadiana river.

Further Details:

The village has a wide variety of restaurants and snack bars, 3 supermarkets, a bank. A number of ATM's. The nearest pharmacy is in the main street at Conceicao, which also has a number of restaurants, snack bars and a Post Office. Cabanas has been improved and upgraded recently and now has its own marina and a boardwalk style waterfront.
