House at Lusticia Bay Peninsula

Updated: 13-Oct-2016
Newly renovated modern house sleeps 8 with stunning views of Zanjice and Mirista

This stylishly renovated modern house sleeps up to eight and provides comfortable accommodation for the larger or extended family. It has white stone floors, with neutral décor throughout. Every room has a terrace overlooking the amazing coastline of Zanjice and Mirista.

On the ground floor the open plan lounge/kitchen with large terrace is furnished with a large comfortable sofa, cable TV fully functional kitchen with dining table. On the first floor, there is two double room with sea views, and a twin room with sea views and walk in shower room . The first floor is accessed by an open stone circular staircase and leads to the to the second floor, that are entered from the landing. The third floor has a large king size bed with en-suite bath and toilet facilities, leading on to the terrace that overlooks Zanjice and Mirista.

Outside, the stunning terrace is a delight, with plenty of space and a beautiful private swimming pool. The views are enchanting too, overlooking the sea and a rustic landscape filled with olive groves making it a perfect place to relax on those warm summer evenings.

Beautifully restored house with private pool and sea views on the peaceful and unspoilt Lustica Peninsula

Located at the tip of the beautiful Lustica peninsula, Artist's Retreat is a collection of painstakingly restored stone houses with a private pool, set amongst pomegranate and olive trees. This house has just been renovated this year.

Stroll through tiny villages which time forgot, where the main source of income continues to be olive groves and goats. You'll find friendly locals who continue to welcome visitors with homemade prsut (cured and smoked ham) and rakija (a stiff Balkan brandy made from plums). The surroundings might be rural, but the area is also rich in cultural heritage. Kotor Old Town is within easy reach, with its narrow alleyways and squares filled with excellent restaurants outdoor cafes while the pretty fishing village of Rose is only a short drive away.

The rural surroundings also make for tremendous walks and some of Montenegro's best beaches are only a short drive away, including the phenomenal white-pebble Zanjice and Mirista beaches.

The area itself enjoys UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Bay of Kotor, which boasts southern Europe’s deepest fjord, an enchanting old town and access to the legendary man-made island, Our Lady of the Rock (pictures 4 and 5). Also easily accessible is the bustling town of Budva, capital city Podgorica and the UNESCO-protected island of Sveti Stefan, whose grand history has seen it host all from the Adriatic’s pirates to Hollywood’s finest, such as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren. Those after adventure can visit the Balkan Peninsula’s largest lake, Lake Skadar, surrounded by national park, or head inland to Montenegro’s mountainous Kolašin region (3 and 6), and of course the entire Adriatic and Dalmatian islands (1 and 2) await exploration by boat. From Luštica Bay, all of Montenegro becomes your playground – a captivating country, inviting discovery.

About the Owner

We think our house was built in the 1990s. When you visit you will understand why they chose the plot of land to build a house, the view! It is called Lastavica Lodge because of the uninterrupted view of Lastavica Island, which accommodates the ruined fort of Mamula.

From the Owner

The house is high enough from the seafront to give you amazing panoramic views Luštica of the Montenegrin coastline and the southern tip of Croatia, but close enough to drive 2 minutes down to the beaches (or a more energetic walk!) The peninsula is conveniently located between Dubrovnik (90 minutes by car) and Tivat (20 minutes by car). It has 35km of coast, surrounded by the deep blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, and is largely undeveloped. Olive groves and dense pine woods are plentiful although many are uncultivated and overgrown. This area has an

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Tivat at 19 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Mirista at 3 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Mirista at 3 Kilometres Car: necessary

The two nearest are Zanjice and Miriste. Even the two beaches adjoin, they are quite different in their view and appearance, as each sits in their own bay.

We often go to the beach at Miriste. There is a small beach area, but the remaining area is made up of various platforms where you can hire loungers and umbrellas. They are all served by a very good restaurant and bar.

The beach of Zanjice is larger and more extensive. Although pebbly, it is still awesome. There is a very good fish restaurant called Ribarsko Selo which sits on the small headland between the two beaches.

Almara beach is located at Oblatno which is a 10 minutes drive away, well worth a visit. Visit the new and chic Almara Beach Club.

Towns Worth Visiting

A 40 minutes drive from the house is the medieval walled city of Kotor. Behind the mighty 20m ramparts that shield Kotor from the waterfront are vegetable and fish markets, the harbour bustle and a labyrinth of small streets which offer excellent shopping and a great selection of bars and restaurant for a night out. Kotor is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Budva old city

A 50 minutes drive from the house is the most impressive medieval walled city of Budva. It has a similar look and feel as Kotor with narrow streets and small squares and a life of traditional music and dance. Why not grab a boat and take a leisurely sail along the coast line and many small islands?

Sveti Stefan

A 15 minutes drive from Budva brings you to the famous costal island and town of Sveti Stefan. The island is now a picture book hotel with cluster of roofs and a sand bar linking it to the shore. You must walk from the coastal path of Sveti Stefan to the secluded beaches of Milocer. A must is visit to the Hotel Milocer a wysteria-clad hotel that use to be the property of the Yugoslav Royal Family.
