Comfortable cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Located in the heart of Long Melford, this quaint, clean, comfortable cottage has all the amenities you would expect and a cute backyard that looks into a huge cow pasture. The backyard is a great place to sit and enjoy a morning tea or coffee while you listen to the birds belt out their morning tunes. If you're lucky, you may even get to watch the cattle graze in the huge pasture.

The kitchen is clean and bright and well equipped, including a Bosch coffee maker to brew a good cup from the provided Tassimo pods. The living room is large enough that the three of us never felt cramped and the furniture is comfortable. The bathroom is bright and clean and the bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage, tastefully decorated, and the beds are comfortable.

The cottage is located right on the main street, so traffic may be a bit heavy at times, but it wasn't an issue for us. The upside of the location outweighs this because everything is close by, from shops and grocery stores, to tea rooms, pubs, and historic attractions.

Mark is a welcoming and responsive host who left a nice welcome package for us at the cottage, which included coffee, tea, biscuits, and a bottle of Buck's Fizz. The binder contains all the information you need about the cottage itself and the area it's located in. We actually booked two separate stays in the cottage, with a trip to Scotland in between stays, and we will definitely be contacting Mark when we return to the Sudbury area in the future.

A welcome break at Meadowview Cottage

  • 4 of 5

A lovely cottage and we thoughly enjoyed our stay. Mark, the owner was quick to respond to mesages. The location was good and as advertised, within short distance of nice cafes and an excellent Chip shop. The on road parking outside the property was difficult due to a busy road and limited spaces, despite this we would stay here again.

Beautiful Cottage and a Lovely Village

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time to this area and using a holiday cottage. So what a delight it was to arrive at this location and cottage. Mark (the owner) was quick to contact me on all queries and the descriptions were accurate.

My Husband, Daughter (11) Dog and I had a very comfortable and relaxing holiday.

The cottage is well equipped, clean, bright and very homely. It is on the main village road (not overly busy) but had a walled and gated front, we put our dog on her lead before leaving but felt safe still. The rear garden was also enclosed, and at the end a field of cows, which my daughter loved on our first evening when they all come over (she named a few favorites).

The village was also very nice with lots off tea shop's, pub's, Co Op, Fish & chip, Indian take away, and all within walking distance. we had had a take away from Melford Valley Tandoori, we would recommend them. Also very lovely walks for the adventurous and dog walkers. Our dog was worn out every day..

We will stay here again if in the area for sure.

Super Suffolk Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Lovely little cottage, well equipped and ideally located in beautiful Long Melford which is well situated to explore other parts of the county.

The cottage was clean and well maintained and the owners communication was excellent.

The cottage is within easy walking distance of several pubs and restaurants in the town of which all had their individual appeal, catering for all tastes and ages.

We also explored the surrounding countryside on foot and found several nice walks from the Cottage.

The water meadows at the rear of the cottage have footpaths right up to the other end of the village.

Further afield we loved Lavenham for its beautiful old buildings and quaint charm.

I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and relatives.

Location

From the Owner

The pretty flint cottage met all our requirements, close enough to beautiful restaurants and shops, but without the need to have to spend the weekend driving to get to them. Sat in the rear garden, you have uninterrupted views of the water meadows and wildlife.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Ample public houses only a stroll away at 200 Metres Nearest Restaurant : Ample restaurants from pub food to fine dining at 200 Metres Car: not necessary

Long Melford set in the stunning Stour Valley (immortalised by John Constable) boasts the longest tree-lined village street in the country. The village dates from the Tudor times and many of the fine buildings which were built during this time still remain, though today housing restaurants, art galleries, fashion boutiques and pubs. By the large village green sits the grade I listed Holy Trinity Church, with its Cathedral proportions it is regarded amongst England's finest churches. The magnificent Melford Hall also sits in the village, once frequented by Beatrix Potter, it is open to the public and still has her original Jemima Puddleduck toy. The fine Kentwell Hall sits on the edge of the village and is a must if you are a fan of Tudor re-enactments.

Long Melford is the perfect base for exploring the lovely Suffolk countryside, with many country walks setting out from the village and the South Suffolk Cycle Route is only yards from Meadowview's front door.
