About the property

Cottage in Snowdonia National Park. Idyllic Retreat Surrounded by Mountains.

The cottage is located at the head of a valley in a secluded position, surrounded by mountains. It was completely refurbished in 2015 and benefits from double glazing and new storage heaters. The lounge also has a large fireplace with a coal/wood burner. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, w.c. and twin bedroom. The first floor has a spacious double bedroom. twin bedroom and bathroom with electric shower. The outside patio provides stunning views of the mountains and woodland and the lockable outhouse provides storage for bikes. Please note that small children would need to be supervised in the rear garden due to the steep steps and drop.

There is a small children's park within 50 metres. The village has a regular bus service into Betws-y-Coed and further afield.

The cottage is located in an idyllic, secluded valley, yet is only 7 miles from the bustling village of Betws-y-Coed. It is ideally situated for walking and the renowned Penmachno mountain bike trail (2 miles away).

About Gregory Waterfield

We have enjoyed our holidays to North Wales, and in particular the area around Betws-y-Coed, for many years. In 2013 we bought this cottage and have lovingly refurbished it over the past 2 years. We love the seclusion and beauty of the Cwm Penmachno valley.

Fantastic trip & property

  • 5 of 5

Second time staying at cottage after visiting for first time last year from Liverpool. Always spotlessly clean and great level of facilities provided...we particularly love the log burners both in living room and back garden!

The location is brilliant too, with loads of walks directly from the back garden. No wifi or signal until you get out of the valley but this was also a huge plus for us. You can literally hear birds tweeting on the other side of the valley it's that quiet!

The host is really helpful too and always quick to reply to any questions etc.

Will be back again soon as there's still loads left to explore in the local area and couldn't find a better cottage for ££.

Lovely Cottage in a beautiful part of the world

  • 4 of 5

Had a lovely week with our 4 kids. Lots to do around about and the cottage serves as a great base for it all. Thanks!

Beautiful surroundings and cosy cottage

  • 4 of 5

Great week in a cosy cottage. Kids played games and read books as no wifi. A fantastic break for us all.

Just to note: lots and cats and sheep so dogs in leads at all times which got frustrating with two big dogs. And no towels! Otherwise top marks

Favourite morning exploring through the quarry, up past waterfall and woods then out into open hills.

Excellent bolt hole away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage in a fantastic setting, we had a great time exploring the area both on foot and in the car. Fabulous scenery right from the front door. The kids would have liked wifi but actually it was good for all the family to go back to basics. Superb value for money.

Lovely Cottage Well Off The Beaten Track

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from a lovely week in this property, it looks exactly as it does in the photos except they don't do justice to how clean the property actually is. It was spotless. The beds were all really comfy and a good nights sleep was had by all. Plenty of walks from cottage into surrounding hillsides.Only thing I would say is make sure you get accurate directions from owner as we didn't and got lost several times before a local gardener pointed us in the right direction. Pretty central to most things and lots of leaflets of places to go in a basket in the cottage. Definately recommend the cable cars on great orme (about 35 mins away) and Zipworld Caverns (about 30 mins away) all in all a good time enjoyed by all.

Points to consider: About 15 minutes to nearest shop for bread milk etc and absolutely no mobile service whatsoever for about 10 minutes in any direction, not an issue for me personally (my son moaned a bit though) just something to be aware of it internet/phone calls are important to you (we covered 5 networks between us and our gadgets)
