About Debbie Clarke

Hi! My name is Debbie and I grew up in the beautiful Cotswold town of Chipping Campden, just 10 miles away. I still work at the secondary school there 4 days a week. My husband is also a local lad and had (now retired) a long-established retail business in the local market town of Shipston-on-Stour. We also love dogs, having four of our own, and have made Robbies Barn dog friendly, so feel free to bring your well behaved furry friends along too!

Debbie Clarke purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Debbie Clarke chose Stratford-upon-Avon

I've lived in the area since I was a small child and love it. My husband and I moved to our current address in 2009 and converted a redundant farm building across the yard from our house into our ideal holiday cottage, the sort of place we'd be happy to stay in. We'd like to share our new home with others and invite you to come and enjoy the holiday cottage we've created.

What makes this cottage unique

Robbies Barn offers peace and tranquillity in a quiet rural setting.

The village of Fulready is surrounded by a network of footpaths and bridle ways to explore, with at least two pubs within a two mile walk.

The village consists of a cluster of beautiful stone and brick properties among them Paddock Farm famous for it's Tamworth sausages and bacon available to but at the local garage shop in Halford and from their own butcher's shop in nearby Brailes village. We have our own free range eggs, some of which will await you on arrival!

Fulready is only 8 miles from Shakespeare's Stratford and all it offers, including three theatres, The Shakespeare Properties and trips on the River Avon. Also to be found in Stratford-Upon-Avon are over 35 excellent Bars, Bistros, and Restaurants.

Shipston-on-Stour"The historic market town of Shipston-on-Stour is a short drive away with many excellent pubs and restaurants and an abundance of individual shops selling local produce."

From Fulready you can enjoy driving through the idyllic Cotswold towns and villages of Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Upper & Lower Slaughter and Snowshill to name but a few.

The Cotswolds is one of the most 'quintessentially English' and unspoiled regions of England, a designated "area of outstanding natural beauty", and is packed with historic interest with Stately Homes, beautifully preserved market towns and excellent footpaths and attractions for days out.

Notes:
A Complimentary Hamper This sounds a little grand but as an enthusiastic home baker, I hope to be able to provide guests with at least something to savour with their first cup of tea! On arrival there is tea, coffee and sugar in the kitchen and a drop of milk in the fridge. There should also be a bottle of locally produced apple juice from the 'Leaping Sheep Co.', although he does keep threatening to retire! Then, with a bit of luck, and providing the hens haven't gone on strike, some free range eggs for guests to enjoy from our own hens! Home grown produce available for purchase in season.

A very relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

The owners Debbie and Roger were very welcoming, as was the cosy cottage. The "goodies" in the kitchen were a lovely surprise, and we really enjoyed the logburner, especially as the weather wasn't great. We left feeling really refreshed from a break in wonderful countryside and would definitely recommend Robbie's Barn to anyone wanting a break from the stresses of everyday life.

A real home from home

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful barn in a lovely rural location, situated near lots of places to visit. Upon arriving we were greeted with homemade biscuits, bread and apple juice. Accommodation was extremely comfortable, particularly the bed and very warm thanks to the underfloor heating and log burner. We stayed with our four dogs and the property was very suitable for our needs, would highly recommend.

Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

Roger & Debbie -

Please forgive me, I had ever intensions of sitting down & writing a review about your picturesque & amazing farm/cottage; but the moment I arrived home I ended up back on 12 hour shifts 5 days a week. I'm still unpacking!

Now for the review :)

At first, when booking, I was a bit skeptical but never judge a book by its cover! We stayed for our honeymoon & farewell to England (migrating) to visit every place we haven't and possible could.

This was the perfect location for our stay. Easy travel to any place we wanted to visit, including: Wales, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Birmingham, Cotswold’s, Winchcombe, etc.

We miss our stay there already! Looking out the kitchen’s split door at their beautiful house in the morning reminded me of a few Thomas Kinkade paintings. Just heaven!

The fresh bread & eggs waiting upon arrival are completely delish. My 4-year-old loved seeing the sheep and horse in the fields (on property).

When we travel back to England again, this will always be our go to retreat! Everything in the house worked perfectly, the beds are comfortable and the full-size kitchen was the BEST. The pictures do not do justice.

Roger & Debbie - Thank you, once again, for making my family feel at home with your lovely hospitality. I seriously miss your fresh bread & eggs!
