La Petite Maison Sleeps 2 (1 Bedroom) + sofa bed in lounge

La Petite Maison, is a modern gite, all on one level with electric heating. Decorated to a high standard. The layout comprises of an open plan Lounge/Kitchen/Diner. Can sleep a further 2 people when using sofa bed.

Bedroom: Double bedroom with double bed. Double wardrobe. Chest of

drawers, monks bench.

Bathroom: En-suite shower room with double shower, 2 sink vanity


Kitchen/Diner: Oven with hob unit, fridge, washing machine, microwave, kettle

One Bedroom Gite pool/hot tub

Green Shutters is tucked away on the edge of the tranquil village of Juille, set in 2 acres of mature gardens. Wifi internet access is available for the guests. There are two bicycles available (helmets not supplied), a large shared pool and a hot tub.

Juille is a quaint, quiet little village of traditional stone houses; the surrounding area being predominantly flat is ideal for the walking or cycling enthusiasts. In the summer months the fields are awash with sunflowers, which is a site to behold. For wildlife enthusiasts, there is also plenty to see. The river Charente runs through the nearby town of Mansle, and offers opportunities for canoing and swimming, as well as having lots of pretty villages and towns dotted along it's course.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day for the gites is usually Friday. We can be flexible and accept any other day except Saturday (when the key holders are not available). Shorter stays may be possible at £45 per night, 4 nights minimum. Arrival after 4pm and departure by 10.30am. Please email the owners with any queries or requests.

A trip to the coastal town of La Rochelle will take no more than 2 hours driving. Sample the delicious seafood dishes provided by the many restaurants down by the harbour. Explore the beautiful beaches along the coast.


By Air: There are daily cut price flights to and from the Uk to the following airports, Poitiers approx 80km. Limoges approx 90km. La Rochelle approx 120 km

Bordeaux approx 160km. These range from 45 minutes to 2 hours drive from us. You will find all the major car hire firms at these airports. By Ferry: St Malo is approx 4-5 hours drive from us. Caen, Cherbourg, Calais and Boulogne approx 6-7 hours drive. Driving: Juille is situated 8km west of the N10.


The market town of Mansle is only 8km away, with shops, restaurants and bars. Visit the market on Tuesdays and Fridays where you can purchase a wide variety of local produce. You can hire canoes here and spend a lovely day on the river. The larger town of Ruffec is 15km from us, with all the usual facilities you may need. Visit the Aire de Rejallant, where you can picnic, swim, canoe or just relax by the river.

Further Details:

The Charente is the second sunniest part of France with mild winters and a generally temperate climate. An unspoiled corner of France with virtually no industry. Renowned for the production of Cognac with vineyards dominating the slopes of the Charente river valley, whilst fields of sunflowers or winter wheat are found on the gently rolling hills above. Ideal for walkers and cyclists. For the keen fisherman, the river and local lakes provide plenty of scope. The landscape is dotted with little villages and towns were traditional life carries on regardless. A visit to the numerous local markets is a must. it also has one of the richest displays of Romanesque art, which can be found in many towns of the area. Angouleme is the capital of the Charente, with its many festivals, events and attractions for the visitor to enjoy. A day in Angouleme could encompass the culture of the Cathedral of St. Pierre, a walk on the ramparts of the old fortified city, a visit to the museum devoted to the art of the comic strip and caricature and we haven't touched on the river trips, markets, shops, restaurants, cafés and bars. All this is only a 20 minute drive away. Cognac, one of France's most popular tourist destinations, this city is exciting all year round. it has an excellent cultural programme. Wander along the quays and the pedestrian are by the market. Take a guided tour at one of the distilleries and sample the world famous Cognac drink. Don't overlook the regions other famous tipple Pineau des Charentes which is also a must. A hours drive north, you will find the lovely city of Poitiers with its old streets and timber framed houses. Futuroscope technologies of film and video in Poitiers, is one of Europe's leading attraction parks. Vallee de Singes, it is well worth a visit to this park where you will find up to 30 different species of monkeys roaming free. Approx 30 minutes drive north of us.

  • Gites are provided with fans for the hot summer months, both gites have electric heating for the winter months (no extra tariffs charged for heating). Outside: Secluded garden, with large covered terrace area, table and chairs for use of all Green Shutters guests. On the veranda there are a number of bistro tables and chairs, where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sun. Between the two Gites there is a large Gazebo with table and chairs. This area being communal and a suntrap for those who like it hot! (Highest recorded temperature 55C in July, 2012) The above ground swimming pool, which is 33 feet long x 17 feet wide x 4.25 feet deep, is shared with the owners and all guest of Green Shutters. A welcome pack is supplied for stays of 7 nights or more
