About the property

2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, on yachting harbour. Views over Firth of Tay to Dundee.

This ground floor apartment has one double bedroom and a single bedroom. Additionally, in the living room, there is a hotel quality double bed-settee, with a deep, sprung mattress. The kitchen is equipped with an electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer and washing/dryer machine. There is a decked area immediately outside the living room patio doors. Although located on the ground floor the access has a few steps at the entrance and some more just inside the communal hallway. It is, therefore, unlikely to be suitable for guests requiring wheelchair access.

In addition, the apartment has WiFi internet access (upgraded to BT's "infinity" service in October 2015), a good selection of DVDs and a DVD player that allows access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and other internet video sources (via your own account). The television is connected to the Freeview service.

Towels and bedding are supplied. Please bring your own beach/leisure towels.

Please note that we do not accept pets or smoking in the apartment.

Enjoy the relaxing views from the living room across the local yachting harbour towards Dundee, the Sidlaw Hills and Broughty Ferry on the far side of the Firth of Tay. Amongst the activity on the river dolphins are seen occasionally.

The apartment is convenient for the championship golf courses of St Andrews (11 miles, 21 minutes, to the South), Carnoustie (16 miles, 35 minutes, to the North) and Gleneagles (42 miles, approx 50 minutes to the South West)

Other local golf courses include:

• Scotscraig – 0.8 miles, 3 mins

• Drumoig – 4.1 miles, 11 mins

• St Michaels – 5.3 miles, 11 mins

• Dukes – 11.5 miles, 25 mins

Walkers will appreciate the proximity of the Fife Coastal Path (part of the North Sea Trail), which skirts the harbour. If you head north from the apartment it is possible to walk all the way across to Dundee (approx. 5 miles) with part of the route across the Tay road bridge. The northern edge of Tentsmuir Forest/Tentsmuir Point National nature Reserve is an easy 20 minute walk from the apartment; there is a visitors’ car park, with access to Kinshaldy Beach, accessible from the south side of the forest.

Tentsmuir Forest is one of several locations that is rich in wildlife and ideal for ornithology as well as botany and marine life observation. Other nearby locations include Auchtermuchty Common, Grassy Beach (between Dundee and Broughty Ferry), Sidlaw Hills and Barry Buddon/Barry Links (only accessible when firing range not in use).

Within Tayport there is a variety of small, local shops including mini-markets, butcher, pharmacy and post office. Also within a few minutes’ walk there are family friendly pubs serving food, a community café, tearoom and take-away food outlets.

Tayport is well served by local buses to St Andrews and Dundee. The mainline railway station in Dundee is only 12 minutes by car (4.6 miles). The rail links allow easy access to Perth (approx 22 mins) and beyond to the highlands; Stirling (approx 55 mins); Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow (all approx 90 mins). Leuchars railway station, approximately 7 miles to the south, is also on the East Coast mainline with regular trains to Edinburgh.

Dundee is a vibrant university city with a wide range of cultural attractions including Discovery Quay, Victoria Dock, Dundee Science Centre, Museum of Transport, Verdant Works Jute Museum and The McManus art gallery and museum. Law Hill in Dundee is a popular location for views over the city and countryside.

Within Dundee there are public access facilities for swimming, ice skating and a dry ski slope.

St Andrews is an exceptionally pleasant, university town with castle and cathedral ruins. The West Sands are bordered by a wide grassy area, with parking, bordering the famous golf links. There is also another beach on the south side of the town. The town is well served with independent shops, restaurants, etc. It buzzes with activity and is worth visiting as are the villages along the Fife coast.

Tayport treasure

Being met by Jim and Liz was lovely and they passed on local knowledge to us.

There was NOTHiNG we wanted for Liz was very generous with the welcome package and well equipped with anything else we needed. I fact this is the best we have stayed it with that regards.

The locals are very friendly and always something to see out of the lounge window and harbour walks.

Local bus service very efficient as we used this as the base for the Golf.

We would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you Jim And Liz

beautiful flat. everything you could need for a holiday in the area

It's gorgeous to sit at the big windows looking out at the harbour in the evenings. Flat has everything it needs and more (incl. the things I forget while I'm travelling!). Beach nearby. Playpark nearby. Lovely walks all around. Dundee easy to reach. Super clean; the flat is obviously cared for. Very quick email and phone responses from the owners. Very helpful booklet of local information, maps, etc. We had a wonderful time!

The apartment was a wonderful place to stay. It is well equipped with everything you could desire: information; furnishings; equipment; and food. The owners are friendly and generous and went out of their way to make sure we had everything. They respond to inquiries immediately and provide all kinds of helpful information.

The view is spectacular and the town of Tayport is friendly and picturesque. There's lots to do.

We'd love to stay again.
