Overview

Property

Updated: 28-Nov-2016

Maison Bellevue  is situated  in picturesque Munster, famous for it’s rooftop stork nests and unique Munster cheese, right in the heartland of Alsace.

A traditionally tall Alsatian House with four storeys of care and attention-to-detail make Maison Bellevue truly a place for fond memories. Three completely self-contained apartments filled with comfortable furniture, a beautiful sunny terrace and courtyard, central heating and plenty of parking. All apartments have panoramic views of the Munster valley and the mountains beyond.

Free private parking and Wifi.

This picturesque property backs onto a natural forest containing a variety of wildlife and a crystal clear stream running it’s length. Maison Bellevue is a leisurely 5 minute walk to the town square where one can stock up on delicious local produce from artisan bakeries, delis or from the Tue and Sat weekly produce market.

Our 2 very good supermarkets are open Monday to Saturday.

Or simply enjoy the famous Alsatian cuisine at one of our numerous restaurants.

A 20 minute drive to the beautiful town of Colmar and only a short drive to the wine villages of Alsace, Munster is the perfect base camp. Easy access to excellent skiing slopes in winter and to the many walking and biking trails in summer makes Maison Bellevue the place to stay.

Ecotourism, Biking, Hiking, Racing, & Training

If your into cross-training for a marathon, bike race, or running events this is the place to be in Munster. Several trails abound in every direction starting from the house and nearby within 5-10 minutes. There is no need to have a car the train is 10-minute walk in either direction from the house. The quality of the air and water are in pristine. A fun place to get away. We have a historic foosball table which is exciting fun.

Perfect French village home away from home in Munster, Alsace.

  • 4 of 5

At Bellevue Maison our family party of five enjoyed a fabulous 6 night stay in the charming, well appointed and comfortable 2nd floor apartment. We had the use of two outdoor terraces with stunning views across the town to the surrounding mountains. The kitchen had everything needed to make our own meals, and the charming dining area was the perfect set-up to enjoy them. The beds were comfortable, the two bathroom (areas) were adequate, the water hot when it needed to be! Our hosts were friendly and helpful in every respect. From this location we were able, with a car, to access many wonderful places of interest and beauty. All in all a most successful sojourn.

Owner's Response: Thank you Derry for your review. It was a pleasure to host you and your family. You actually stayed in what is our 1st floor apartment, I know it is called differently in Australia. We are happy you choose Munster in Alsace as an easy place to meet, as some of you were coming from different places in Europe. We like to encourage people to use the extensive French network. And Maison Bellevue being only 500 meters from the station makes it easy .

Lovely views over one of the nicest places in Europe

  • 5 of 5

This holiday apartment has one bedroom plus a sofa bed in the living room, and is located on the top floor of a 4 storey house with a fascinating history and wonderful views across the valley. The apartment felt very cosy and was well equipped. It is walking distance from the shops and restaurants of Munster, a characterful Alsacian town. Gabrielle, the owner, speaks fluent English as well as German and French, so was easy to communicate with. She was very prompt and complete in her correspondence with me. She was very warm and welcoming when we arrived. The house, gardens and fishing lake were built up by the Gabrielle's father who used to run it as a hotel and restaurant. I was told her father would take restaurant orders for trout then run to the lake to catch them fresh. It no longer provides fish for restaurants, but we had a lovely evening eating our self cooked bbq dinner next to the lake. We had fun exploring the wonderful wine trail and stopping along the way for tasting and buying a few bottles of the local wines in the many charming and flowery villages. We especially liked the smokey Pinot Grigio snd some of the excellent Pinot Noir that is produced on the hills behind the town. We also were within easy driving distance from Colmar and Strasbourg, both major cities worth a visit. As two semi-retired professionals this worked well for us. We even had chance to improve our fitness walking up the steep hill to the house about 100 yards from the car park, and climbing the steep stairs to our eyrie with its magnificent views.

Beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

A nice apartment with beautiful views. Our 4 year old loved the garden and running round the lake, our hosts were very friendly and helpful with any enquiry, I wished to hire a bike so Yoli kindly rang the bike hire place to arrange as my French isn't the best! The Vosges Mountains are a cyclists dream, hundreds of miles of mountain bike tracks through the forests, also for road cyclists I'd highly recommend, so many good quality roads snaking there way over the mountains.

Munster is a lovely town, surrounded by forested mountains. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk and a couple of big supermarkets nearby. I'd recommend a visit to the local swimming pool just 5 minutes walk away, very clean and modern and with a great waterslide. Further afield, a beautiful lake at Gerardmer where you can hire boats, a 40 minute drive over the mountain... We were lucky with the weather, beautiful.

We all enjoyed our visit to Alsace and hope to go back soon!

Owner's Response: It is our ultimate recompense to read of guests expressing their desire to come back,. It is hard to leave the valley when the weather is perfect, enjoying both the immediate natural surroundings on our property and the famed Munster valley. We have more and more guests coming specifically to cycle our beautiful roads, and we offer easy bicycle storage. But there is also a whole world to explore indoors in Alsace, with our very original museums and castles.

schöner Kurzurlaub

  • 5 of 5

  • 4 of 5

Vielen Dank!

A very comfortable apartment in a lovely location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment met all expectations. It was very clean and comfortable with lovely views of the town and mountains. Only a 5 - 10 minute walk into the centre of Munster it was very convenient for shops and restaurants but also right on the outskirts, so very peaceful.

The owner lives on site and was very friendly and spoke excellent English. She was very helpful in making suggestions of things to see and do.

Munster is a lovely little town with lots of restaurants and all meals we had were of a very high standard at reasonable cost.

The mix of local scenery - high mountains, vineyards and medieval villages meant there were lots of things to do and see.

I would certainly recommend this property to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you , we love to read about your stay with us. We always hope to encourage our guests to leave the car on the car park and do slow travelling : go by foot everywhere, enjoy the many trails around the house, use the great town pool and spa. And trips to the cities Colmar, Mulhouse and Strasbourg can all be done by train. We hope to see you again very soon.
