This lovely 2 bedroomed, 2 bathroom air conditioned/air cgooled and well equipped and very comfortably furnished apartment is located on a top class but very affordable golf and leisure resort close to the coast, but theure is also much to do for the family and non golfers. Located on the first floor and within 150m of the 1st tee and the beautiful Sierras Leisure area (tennis, gym, infinity pool, jacuzzi, games room,kiddies playgrounds and pool) and Crocodile club bar and restaurant.The apartment has a large pool (19x8m) and a kiddies pool right outside the door, set in attractive and tranquil gardens with ample sunbeds & with ornamental trees and umbrellas for shade. There are sea, mountain and golf course views from the 2 balconies and private roof terrace area. Both balconies are furnished with table and chairs and one faces a lovely Spanish courtyard with orange trees and the other faces the pool and gardens. The spacious roof terrace (solarium) is fully equipped with BBQ, table & chairs, sunbeds etc. The apartment is fully furnished and has free wifi and satellite TV - the large lounge has 2 three seater settees, coffee table, sideboard, 32 inch flat screen TV, DVD player, i-pod dock & CD/ radio. The dining area has a pine table and 4 chairs. The apartment has patio doors at each end of the lounge/dining area leading to the balconies. There is an efficient air cooling unit and ceiling fans. The separate and good sized kitchen is well equipped (all amenities bar a dishwasher). The master bedroom has a king sized double bed, large fitted wardrobes, 26 inch TV/DVD and is air conditioned and the windows are fitted with mossie blinds. It has its own en suite bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin and toilet. the 2nd bedroom is on the cooler side of the apartment and has new twin beds that can be linked with mattresses that zip together to make an extra king sized bed. it also has fitted wardobes and is adjacent to its own shower room/toilet. It has an excellent air conditioning unit and ceiling fan and mossie blinds which allow the window to remain open at night.The apartment has many games, books, CD's , DVD's and is a great base for golfers, families with children,couples etc. The rental prices are very competitive ( do compare) and you may be hard pressed to find such a spacious, well equipped apartment at a lower rental price. Trip Advisor reviews on TA /HL 1358654 confirm the quality and value for money.

The complex is highly rated and has won many awards. It was chosen as a venue by several County cricket squads, many elite golfing groups, some lady and male golf pros and in 2015 the England Ashes squad for winter training. The final PGA Pro tour event was held at DS in October 2015 and shown on Sky.The practice facilities are first class.

There are mountain bikes to rent, a health spa, gym, trim trail, tennis courts, jacuzzi etc so there is plenty to do for all ages and interests. Relaxing or eating at the superb clubhouse with its beautiful terrace is always popular

DS is only 10 min drive to the nearest sandy beaches and beach bars and only 25 mins from Mojacar. There are many interesting places to visit within the region and Granada, Almeria and Cartagena are in driving distance as is the Cabo de Gata national Park.

We live in Kent but as we are retired enjoy holidays at Desert Springs, a lovely, friendly relaxing place to stay. As we play golf we also enjoy this superb if challenging championship course but we also enjoy the beaches, beach bars and restaurants nearby and in Mojacar. Some days we venture into the nearby mountains or along the coast to the Cabo de Gata National Park and enjoy real Spain and the many white villages with small bars.It is an area that we love and enjoy the low cost of living and the fabulous weather.

The golf and leisure complex has a range of amenities and can be enjoyed by golfers and non golfers and families. Beaches are nearby and pools adjacent to the apartment. Many coastal and scenic areas and white villages in nearby mountains. A tranquil location which is rarely over used. The complex has received many tourist awards.

Notes:
Desert Springs is a beautiful and friendly golf and leisure complex. The clubhouse and Crocodile/Sierras club are beautifully designed but offer a very friendly, informal welcome. England cricket squad stayed there in June 2015 and many other 1st class County squads and golf academies frequent the complex. Ian Botham has a villa here. 2 top lady professionals winter here and Nick Dougherty uses it as his pre season training base. The golf facilities are first class. The pro does 10e hour long group lessons ( max 8) and the practice facilities are first class. Despite its high rating the complex is very informal. There is much to do for non golfers ( trim trail, spa, cycling, jacuzzi, gym, tennis, walking etc) but many just find relaxing by the pools is enough. Near to sea and beaches (12 mins) and plenty of places to visit nearby. Also areas like Cabo de Gata coastal national park, Granada, Almeria, mojacar pueblo, spaghetti western country, Cartagena are all accessible.

Lovely well equipped apartment

Lovely comfortable apartment, extremely well equipped. We really enjoyed sundowners on the sunroof watching the beautiful sunsets. Large swimming is a definite asset and it and surrounding area are kept very clean. The facilities at Desert Springs were excellent and there was easy access to some lovely beaches. Hopefully we will be able to stay again.

Value for Money and ideal little base

Perfect base, not luxurious but a good basic 2 bedroomed property with a nice outlook over the pool. The apartment was clean and sufficiently furnished for a vacation home. We stayed for five nights and was excellent value for money. The apartment has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. It also has two bathrooms, one with a bath and shower head over the bath, the other with a shower cubicle, this is a little small but you can always shower at the golf club after playing which is what we did so not a problem. If you are looking for a base for two people I would say that this was ideal, it would be a bit on the small side for four people sharing but manageable and you wont want to spend time indoors when there is so much else to see in this ideal location.

The weather was dry but cold and very windy so would recommend taking an extra jumper or light coat. Unfortunately due to the weather we couldn't enjoy the sun terrace or pool but it was all available and meticulously cleaned every morning by staff.

The owner was fantastic, very accommodating, responded quickly to all communication and provided us with more than enough details about the area and directions. The 'no need to bring list' was great and meant that we were able to travel with just a carry on suitcase as adapters, towels, hairdryers etc were all there. We had a problem with the electricity when we were there but a quick email and a phone call and a local electrician arrived within 4 hours and sorted out the main problem. Excellent customer service and the owner really wanted us to enjoy their holiday home.

We ate at the clubhouse restaurant, excellent food and service. 3 course meal and coffee for 18 euros and right on your doorstep. We also ate at the Crocodile Club, which was not as good. Again early in the season but it was cold in there and the service was very slow. In the summer I am sure this place is buzzing with the young children and families. The golf course itself was in fantastic condition and the director of golf was very visible and welcoming.

We visited the local town and also drove the coastal road which had some amazing scenery and again in the height of summer would be busy with locals and visitors.

We would definitely stay here again and if you are looking for a short getaway, with great golf and a base from which to explore this apartment is ideal.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive comments. I would dispute that its small for 4 people. Most rentals have 4 and are very happy. We have friends stay and its no problem at all. Obviously, most of the year balconies are used and so outdoor living is possible. The bedrooms are spacious and with 2 bathrooms there is no pressure there. Shame for you that the weather was unusually chilly. Also the Croc never usually opens in winter as it can be chilly in there. Was only open to entertain the boys tournament on this occasion.

Excellent apartment and resort. 5* lots to do ! Been to resort several times with 2 kids even though we don't play golf! Great tennis courts,driving range ,mountain bikes gym and pools!! Owners extremely helpful and hands on. Great apartment in the best location . So good we've booked again for summer 2016!!

Excellent Apartment and Location

We have stayed at this apartment twice now as a family of two golf playing adults and two tween-agers!

Firstly the owners are a pleasure to deal with and are extremely helpful and even provided a full list of 'what not to bring' with us the first time we stayed as there are so many things on hand in the apartment that it truly is like a 'home from home'.

The apartment is well furnished and very clean with lots of handy equipment above the normal things you'd expect to be supplied e.g. Pool Toys, Raquets, Games Cupboard, DVDs, CD's, Hairdryer, Shopping Bags etc. There are lots of handy items in the apartment so you'd never be stuck. There are plenty of books and guests reviews of things to do in the local area. Also there is WIFI which we used.

The apartment is extremely well situated within the Desert Springs Complex and overlooks a shared pool, however we found on both occasions that we virtually had it to ourselves most days. The Crocodile Club is very close by which has another pool and also the kids play areas, basketball courts , tennis courts etc. as well as a restaurant and bar.

There is also the Club House which is a short stroll away which is by the 18th Hole. It too has a restaurant and bar area which we found very good.

We enjoyed playing the golf course on several occasions and would recommend it as challenging.

Overall I don't think anyone could be disappointed staying here, and the friendly owners will do their very best to make sure you really enjoy your stay.
