Perfect accommodation

  • 5 of 5

The Villa Helidona is fantastic! It has a wonderful sea view and a great swimming pool. There's also a barbecue. In the house you can find everything you need - it's really perfectly accommodated. The villa is very spacious - there's a lot of place for everybody and everything. In the kitchen you can find all you can imagine. We spent 8 unforgettable days at the Villa Helidona. We only had an issue with the water supply for a couple of days but it was a problem with the general supply that hadn't to do with our hosts.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write us this great review. We are so pleased you enjoyed our home from home. Thanks also for your patience regarding the water supply, the town hall worked tirelessly to fix it and were utilising trucks to fill the village tank every day in the interim. We hope to welcome you again in 2017!

Fantastic villa, fantastic views

  • 5 of 5

This villa is really spacious. Rooms are big and there are lots of them. The main bedroom upstairs is really cool with it's own shower, wc and a private sun terrace! There are many terraces and and a superb view. Lots of sunbeds and many tables and sofas.

Everything was clean and nice. Pool is big enough. The kitchen is large and very well equipped(With an ice cube maker!)

And it's only ten minutes drive to a natural waterfall swimming pool!

And there were very helpful guys (Simon and Simon:) to guide you if needed.

It's a perfect destination for a family vacation and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to chilled out holiday.

Excellent villa with great views

  • 5 of 5

Great villa with plenty of space inside and out. Very peaceful but not too far by car to local facilities, beaches and many tavernas. But with great kitchen, dining and sun bathing terraces, lovely pool and table tennis no need to wander far if you don't want to. Lots of nice touches, well looked after while there, have stayed before and hope to stay again.

Modern villa with maginificent views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a family celebration. This villa is fantastic.

It has an amazing kitchen with all the mod cons you could possibly ask for. All our meals were taken out on the covered verandah where you can soak up the panoramic views. The views are also seen from the swimming pool.

The owners supply plenty of information about places to visit, and interesting walks to go on. There is also the local taverna serving very tasty meals and a bar, both a short walk away.

This very well maintained, clean villa is definitely to be recomended and we are looking forward to a return trip soon.

  • 5 of 5

WE LOVED OUR STAY AT THIS VILLA AS IT IS IN AN EXCELLENT POSITION WITH STUNNING VIEWS DOWN TOWARDS THE SEA AND THE ISLANDS BEYOND.THE VILLA ITSELF WAS EVEN BETTER THAN THE DESCRIPTION AND EVERYTHING IS OF A VERY HIGH STANDARD,REALLY WELL MAINTAINED AND PRESENTED.NOTHING ABOUT THE VILLA DISAPPOINTED US AND WE WOULD MOST CERTAINLY CHOOSE TO VISIT AGAIN.

Location

From the Owner

Our first introduction to Greece was Jenny's during the Junta in the late sixties- the Greeks were very generous to the apparently destitute students, one of whom ended up giving blood in Athens to raise money! Our first tour of the islands was in 1996 when we took the whole family on an Odysseus flotilla from Corfu to Ithaca/Kefalonia and back to Preveza. Further tours followed. We took our third tour by yacht around the islands in Summer 2001 and somewhere in Nidri, looking up at the stars, we elbowed each other and decided to see if we could buy or build a house on the island. The houses for sale seemed rather expensive (we only later discovered that you only were expected to offer 55-60% of the asking price!) We then discovered a German called Jurgen Kuster (he had married a local lass and the land was hers) who had seven plots, in between zig-zag roads, available for building just above the charming village of Paleokatouna, with its famous Dimitri's taverna. We came to Lefkas in the first weeks of 2002 to look at the site and to sign the deal. The site was astounding (although thorny and inaccessible) and the view enthralling. We decided to choose a solid stone house with modern amenities, building permission was obtained, but than we discovered that the planned house was the wrong way around on the site! This took a month or two to sort out! The stone was cut from the north side of the melissa gorge, near Tsoukalades in the north of Lefkas. The concrete was poured onto a fully welded-up steel structure. We moved in for the first time in April 2004. Since then we have constantly refined and improved the house over the years. The most dramatic development was in 2012- 2013 when we had a beautiful new internal marble staircase made and converted the house from two three-bedroom flats into a five bedroom house. We also extended the outside spaces and built a garage a car port and second large pergola.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Preveza at 36 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Paleokatouna village at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Nidri at 3 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Paleokatouna village at 0.6 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Nidri at 3 Kilometres Car: recommended

The villa is located on the outskirts of a hillside village, it is in a quiet location with stunning panoramic views of the sea, the coastal town of Nidri, the enclosed bay of Vlicho and the 'princess' islands dotted along the coastline. The local village of Paleokatouna, with a population of less than 100, has a traditional Greek family-run taverna with sea views.

In the town of Nidri there are an abundance of tavernas, restaurants and cafes to choose from. Many located along the harbour front where you can watch the world go by while enjoying a frappe (cold coffee) or an ouzo. The town also has many shops selling olive wood products, handbags, shoes and typical souvenirs.

There are many activities to choose from both in Nidri and on the island, the mountainous landscape proves ideal for mountain biking (www.getactivelefkas.com) and walking. The area is renowned for sailing due to the calm water and the hundreds of bays awaiting your visit. A day chartering a yacht with skipper is the perfect way to explore the area or a boat trip on the luxury M/S Christina is the next best thing - with only a maximum of 50 passengers on board and each with a sunbed - it is the ultimate in relaxation whilst visiting some of the satellite islands. Other water based activities can be found on Nidri beach, these include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking both tuition or equipment hire are available.

A visit to the west coast is worthwhile as the beaches on the other side are regarded as the best in Europe - these include Porto Katsiki, Kathisma and Egremni. These can be reached by car or some boat trips do stop here.

Lefkas Town is the capital of the island and a morning or evening visit (not between 2pm and 5pm as most shops close for siesta) is great to stroll along the pedestrianised high street perusing the local wares, sitting in the town's square in one of the cafes or visiting some of the many churches is a lovely way to spend the day.
