About the property

Sleeps 2. 1 Bedroom. 1 Bathroom.

Barnes Lodge has been recently refurbished and is adjoining our lovely early Victorian house. It is completely self-contained, with all rooms on the ground floor, and is accessed through the attractive walled garden. It is situated in a quiet part of the town but only a few minutes’ level walk from a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Minehead’s sandy beach and pretty harbour are also within easy walking distance, and the beautiful North Hill area and Exmoor are only a short distance away. The start of the South West Coastal Path is also on our doorstep.

The property has a double bedroom with a king size bed, but can also be configured with full size twin beds, making it ideal for walking companions. There is an en-suite shower room and wc, a kitchen with full cooker, microwave, fridge (with freezer box) and washing machine. The lounge/dining area has a television and DVD player, and is well stocked with books and games. Free WiFi is also available.

This has to be one of the best self-catering accommodations we have ever stayed in. An extremely well kitted out lodge with everything we were looking for. Peter and Janet could not have been more welcoming and the package of milk, tea, coffee and home made lemon drizzle cake was a lovely gesture. We have talked about returning when Exmoor is not so boggy. Many thanks to you both for a wonderful mini break. 5/5

Outstanding value for money

This property is adjoining the owners house but has its own entrance/exit. There is also a lovely garden at the rear for the use of whoever is renting. The inside consists of a well laid out lounge with 3 seater leather reclining sofa and a leather reclining chair together with a small dining room table with 2 chairs. The kitchen has all the utensils and cupboard space needed together with the usual full size cooker, fridge and microwave. The bedroom has 2 large single beds which can be zipped together to make a king size double. Also there is plenty of wardrobe and drawers space for all your clothes. Off the bedroom is a small on suite bathroom with toilet, sink and power shower. The owners, Peter and Janet were amazing in that they were readily available if you required help or information, always ready to have a chat, but discreet enough to leave you alone if you wanted. The property has off road parking available and is all on one level in a quiet residential area of Minehead but within a 2-3 minute walk of the shops and pubs. All in all my wife and I have found our ideal self catering property within Minehead.

Great property, close to everything

Just stayed here for what must have been the coldest weekend in Minehead for quite some time. It was freezing or below freezing the whole time we were here but despite that we really enjoyed ourselves as there is plenty to see and do. The shops and restaurants are right around the corner, literally, and yet the property is very quiet as it is tucked away. Private parking for the car in a safe place was great and the property, and the hosts, Peter & Janet, were great too. We were made to feel very welcome and would come here again for definite.

It is situated in a quiet part of the town but only a few minutes’ level walk from a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Minehead’s sandy beach and pretty harbour are also within easy walking distance, and the beautiful North Hill area and Exmoor are only a short distance away. The start of the South West Coastal Path is also on our doorstep. As well as the sandy beach and attractive harbour there are plenty of other places to visit in the area…

Enjoy a steam train journey on the West Somerset Railway; visit the stunning Dunster Castle and medieval village of Dunster; stroll around the pretty villages of Porlock and Porlock Weir, or relax over afternoon tea at the picturesque thatched village of Selworthy. The well-known Doone Valley is close by, or take a drive along the coast to Lynton and Lynmouth. If you are a walker you are spoilt for choice – Exmoor National Park, The Quantock Hills, Clatworthy Reservoir and the South West Coastal Footpath are all within easy reach.
