A little gem of a cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in Newquay cottage a couple of weeks ago and already planning our next visit. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Spotlessly clean, well equipped with modern décor. The log burner was great for those chilly evenings and having Netflix was an extra treat. Location is brilliant for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and coast. There are two pubs in the village which unfortunately we never got the chance to try but we did pay a visit to The old stag at nearby Llangernyw that served lovely home cooked food at very reasonable prices. The village post office was great for any essentials we needed and the owners Sue and Pete were very friendly and helpful advising us on the local area. Thank you again Richard for a lovely stay and our welcome pack of wine and welsh cakes. Looking forward to staying at your property again in the future.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

Directions given by Richard were spot on and easy to follow. The cottage is really nice and decorated to a high standard, the log burner was great our Labrador enjoyed curling up in front of it, there was everything you would need in the cottage to make your stay comfortable. The village has 2 pubs, we had a meal in the Black Lion which was very good, note that dogs are not allowed. The surrounding areas have lots of good walks and is a great base to explore North Wales. Thanks Richard for letting us use your lovely cottage and also for the welsh cakes and wine, we hope to return at some point in the future.

Lovely little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just returned after spending 4 peaceful nights in Newquay Cottage. Directions given by owner after booking were spot on and key collection was super fast from local store. Cottage is very well equipped everything has been thought of down to shampoo shower gel and soaps. Having Netflix on an evening was a bonus after spending tiring day walking. Well equipped spotless kitchen, nice cozy living room. Bedroom with plenty of storage and good quality bedding. Quiet village location with well stocked shop and 2 welcoming pubs. The town of Abergele only 5 miles away if tesco etc needed. Nice riverside walks in immediate area. Overall great base to explore Snowdonia national park, thoroughly recommended..

Great little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This wonderful little cottage has everything you could need for a break away.

It's clean and well maintained. The bed is really comfy. If it's chilly then there's a great multi fuel stove in the lounge as well as central heating. For a little village it has 2 pubs & a shop with a post office . The river Elwy runs through the village and is really pretty. We had great weather & children were paddling in the river. Just a short drive to Abergele where there is everything else you might need including a great Chinese Restaurant & the beach to put a toe in the sea.

Location

From the Owner

I purchased Newquay Cottage after leaving university in 2001. I grew up in Llanfair Talhaiarn from a young age and I love the convenient yet semi-rural location, with my parents still living close by. After moving to Chester I couldn't bare to part with the cottage, hence I initially rented it out and more recently, converting it to a holiday let, so I myself can occasionally enjoy being 'back home'.

Local Area Information:

The idyllic semi-rural village of Llanfair Talhaiarn is situated just 5 miles from Abergele town in the County of Conwy. This is a perfect base from which to explore the North Wales coast and the Snowdonia National Park. The historic Roman City of Chester is also less than an hours drive away and well worth a visit. There is an abundance of attractions in the area from adrenalin filled activities to relaxing country walks right on your doorstep.

Snowdonia National Park includes the biggest mountain in Wales and England, Snowdon at 3,560ft, where you can visit by foot or train. The largest natural lake in Wales can also be found here together with a wealth of picturesque villages like Betws-y-Coed, Llanrwst and Beddgelert. Snowdonia is steeped in culture and history, with activities to suit everyone, check out the new Snowdonia Surf Centre, the world's first inland surfing lagoon, or experience Europe's longest zip wire and underground trampolines at Zipworld. With breathtaking scenery and plenty to do, no visit to North Wales is complete without a trip to Snowdonia!

Head North to the coast where you will find the popular seaside towns of Llandudno, Rhyl, Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay. Llandudno has recently been voted the top seaside town in the UK by tripadvisor and it's easy to see why. As Wales's largest resort, situated between the Great and Little Ormes with two wonderful beaches, the award winning North Shore and the quiet, sand duned West Shore, Llandudno has retained its Victorian and Edwardian elegance and splendour, despite its modern attractions.

Conwy is a World Heritage town a short drive from Llandudno. Check out the imposing medieval Conwy Castle, along with a string of well-preserved walls that wrap themselves around narrow streets crammed with historic buildings.

Travelling West along the A55 you will find the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. Here you will find stunning landscapes, unspoilt coastlines and a multitude of picturesque towns and villages. There are miles of scenic walks and bicycle rides to be found here together with some of the best water based activities in the area. Much of the coastline has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and come rain or shine the fabulous beaches offer something for everyone – vast stretches of sand and windswept bays where a bracing walk and rock pooling are the call of the day.
