About the property

Le Relais des Roches

La Maison Verte & La Maison à Côte at Le Relais des Roches sleep up to 4 & 5 - It’s very unusual to find holiday homes in the village centre with a large pool, surrounded by trees and with a feeling of space.

A short walk to the shops, cafes and restaurants in the world famous village of Les Eyzies, 2 minutes walk from an excellent boulangerie and you will find a small supermarket just round the corner.

These homes are situated in the most popular part of the Dordogne within 20 km’s of 8 ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’ and a short drive from the medieval town of Sarlat. They sit opposite dramatic limestone rock faces once home to Cromagnon man, and being just 400 metres from the famous Font de Gaume caves (a UNESCO heritage site), they are at the very heart of it all.

Both properties have been decorated to a high standard with wood and tiled floors, tastefully & comfortably furnished with all the necessary conveniences for modern living including dishwasher, washing machine & UK satellite TV, DVD player, Nespresso coffee machine etc.

We provide for you salt & pepper, olive oil, vinegar, foil, cling film, freezer bags, foil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, all cleaning materials etc.

The large 40ft x 20ft swimming pool & pretty grounds provide an ideal area for relaxation and to top up that tan.

Friendly but unobtrusive owners live nearby.

You can visit our website at www.relaisroches.com to see more information & pictures on both La Maison à Côté and La Maison Verte at Le Relais des Roches.

About Rob & Karen Harrison

We are never happier than when outdoors under the warm Perigourdine sun, after spending many years commuting on planes, trains and automobiles we settled here in the Dordogne 14 years ago and have never looked back....

After holidaying in the Dordogne in 2003 we fell in love with the blue skys and outstanding natural beauty of the area and just a year later we were living here!!

Rob & Karen Harrison purchased this house in 2005

Why Rob & Karen Harrison chose Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil

We had been living in Les Eyzies for a year when Le Relais des Roches came up for sale and because it is so unusual to find a village property with a large pool we jumped at the chance of buying it.

What makes this house unique

Perfect. Plenty of space, big garden, lovely pool, well situated.

  • 5 of 5

We came to Les Eyzies after a week on the med coast. The contrast made for a really nice second half of our holiday. There was plenty of space in the garden for your 4-year-old son to run around in and the house itself is also spacious.

The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils, there are plenty of nice restaurants and other amenities within 5-10 mins walk in Les Eyzies and masses of things to do - canoeing, chateaux, caves and great stuff for kids too.

Rob and Karen were also great hosts - super helpful and very responsive.

Wonderful accommodation in the heart of the region

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely property! It is well-equipped and cheery, with everything one would want or need for a holiday. Karen and Rob's instructions for the use of the house were spot-on. Also, they were kind enough to leave us excellent suggestions about what to do during our stay which were much-appreciated. The location could not be better -- walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores, and an easy drive to the area's main attractions.

A great place for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We spent a fortnight at La Maison à Côte in August 2016 and had a fantastic and memorable trip. The house was exactly as advertised, spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything in it you could ever need - and we cooked a lot! The pool is huge - even when being shared with family next door - and a great refuge on a hot afternoon. The grounds are spacious and particularly welcome was a lovely large tree which provided fabulous natural shade throughout the day. Although the site is split with another house, the layout allows for plenty of privacy too. Our kids got on brilliantly with their neighbours so there wasn't much of that for us though!!

The house is a few minutes walk from both the local baker and Les Eyzies village - a pretty little place to explore. More importantly the house's position means it is within striking distance of all the major attractions and activities in the area. The furthest time we ever spent in the car getting somewhere was 30 minutes.

Karen and Rob are great hosts. They were quick to respond to the small requests that we had and popped in once a week to ensure we were getting on okay and to answer any questions on visitor attractions, restaurant recommendations, etc, etc.

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely week in La Maison a Cote

  • 5 of 5

We have had a lovely week at La Maison a Cote! Lovely little home from home with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing week in a fascinating part of France! Absolutely perfect for us. The kids loved the massive swimming pool and would happily have spent the week splashing about in that. The house is located within 2 minutes of a surprisingly well stocked supermarket and a little bakery (and a local wine producer...!). The village itself is only 5-10minutes walk and has everything you need. We even managed to make it in to see the evening lights (you were right Karen - they were lovely), although dragging ourselves from the sunny patio and bbq proved challenging.

The surrounding area was amazing; utterly beautiful, packed with history and lots and lots to see and do. We had a superb morning canoeing on the Vezere - with an early start we had the river to ourselves at times - and visited several of the impressive caves and other CroMagnon sites in the immediate area.

Rob and Karen are perfect hosts. Full of recommendations with an infectious love of the area - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Lovely property, well situated, just right for us!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Maison Cote - it's a lovely property that is well maintained and located on the edge of Les Eyzies. A short walk into the village provides access to the shops, bakeries, restaurants, in addition to the Prehistorie Museum and PiP centre. It's a lovely spot with a nice garden, great facilities - the kitchen/diner is downstairs, while the living room and bedrooms are then located on the first floor. Spacious with everything we needed. Our 18-month old daughter loved being outside and playing on the grass! The swimming pool was clean, large and safe - a great treat at the end of the warm day. Rob and Karen were very friendly and great to know they are just nearby if for any reason we needed anything. They provided a travel cot, high chair and stair gates for our little girl, so that was all very handy, plus there is a washing machine which meant we could keep on top of our washing (boring, but with a little one, handy!). Also provided a ready-to-go BBQ, and a lovely bottle of wine to welcome us on our stay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break away - well situated for touring around the local Dordogne region. We went to Sarlat, Perigeux, Domme (amazing!), Castelnaud le Chappel, Beynac, Les Roque Gageu and really enjoyed seeing the sights. I would return and highly recommend both Maison Cote and Maison Verte next door.

La Maison a Cote

  • 5 of 5

A really lovely holiday despite heavy rain most days. Found plenty of things to see and do - our highlights were Rocamadour, Domme, Les jardins suspendus de Marqueyssac, the national prehistoric museum (in Les Eyzies) and the French markets. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and the swimming pool was very much appreciated, even in the rain! A great location, within walking distance of the supermarket and other small shops, several bars and restaurants and the Vezere. We would love to come back.

Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of the Perigord has been described by some as paradise.

As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs or visit the many 'Beau Villages' in the surrounding area you begin to understand why. The area surrounding Le Relais des Roches is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat is just 20 minutes away.

The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer.

Whether you wish to visit one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites, caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, picnic by the banks of the Vezere River, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac and surround or canoe, horse ride and perhaps fish, the Dordogne has it all.

If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Foie Gras, cepes, truffles and excellent restaurants - the region has it all.

Other local activities include: canoeing, airparks, quad bike hire, ballooning, go carting the list is endless.......
