A Rural Village Holiday Getaway Near The South West Coast Of The Isle Of Wight

New for 2015 Church View is a stylish and modern family house set in the picturesque village of Shorwell opposite its historic church and country pub. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to fantastic beaches it's ideal for families and friends wishing to explore.

Inside, the property has been recently renovated to a high standard. The ground floor is light and spacious with a contemporary open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The clearly defined areas provide a sociable setting for cooking, eating and relaxing. It also offers a delightful conservatory with steps down to the enclosed garden and with views of the Downs beyond. Upstairs, with views of both the village and the countryside, there are two large double bedrooms (one with an ensuite), a twin room and a single room. The large family bathroom has a roll top bath.

Externally, there is an attractive cottage garden to the front of the house. To the side of the property there is a sunny lawned garden with space for outside dining. Enclosed by a clematis covered wall it is an ideal place for children to play. There is a gated gravel driveway providing parking for three cars and a garage ideal for storing bikes, kayaks, etc.

The house is a short walk from the Village Post Office and a minute's walk from the Crown Inn. The neighbouring village of Brighstone also offers village shops, a restaurant and a pub.

West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with woodland and coastal paths making it ideal for walkers and cyclists. The sandy beaches of Compton Bay and Brook Bay, popular with families, surfers and fossil hunters alike, are a short drive away. Famous attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle, the Needles and Blackgang Chine are also within easy reach. With so much to discover, this holiday home is the perfect year round escape.

About Dave and Sophie Walker

We (Dave and Sophie) live in Godalming, Surrey with our three children Ned, Tilly and Barney. We bought Church View in 2010, with the hope of spending every weekend on the island. Alas, other commitments (mainly our children's various sports teams) have meant we cannot spend enough time in the house and so we have decided to let others enjoy it.

Why Dave and Sophie Walker chose Isle of Wight

As soon as we pulled into the driveway of Church View we knew we would love it. The garden is a glorious sun trap. You enter the house through the conservatory and from there into a wonderful open plan living space, which we knew our three children would enjoy. I have always dreamed of being near a traditional country pub and I wasn't disappointed by the Crown Inn. The nearby beaches are lovely all year round and if you are visiting in Autumn a walk along Compton Bay on a sunny Autumn day is a must. We have loved every minute we have spent on the Isle of Wight and we are sure you will too.

What makes this house unique

The biggest benefit of Church View is the open plan living area which is perfect for friends and families. There cannot be many properties on the island that can boast such a space. The house is light, spacious and the décor is modern. The enclosed garden is a child friendly sun trap and big enough for a game of football or cricket. All the neighbours are very friendly and there is a traditional country pub just over the road. What more could you want?

Lovely family break

This was our second trip to Church View and we had a wonderful stay again. The cottage is perfect for the children as there is so much space downstairs. The bedrooms are all good sizes and there is a high chair and travel cot for babies. Overall a brilliant place for a family break.

A lovely immaculate perfectly positioned house

We were a group of five adults who love to walk in the Isle of Wight. This house was fantastic for us as it was a modern immaculate comfortable house in a great location for exploring the whole of the island. All mod cons and very very clean. Situated in a pretty village with a local pub and brighstone village shop just two mins in the car. Would love to come back again with adult friends and also with my children. A definite five star property.

Wonderful Holiday Home

Where do I start ? From the moment we booked Church View for our Christmas stay, Dave & Sophie could not have been more helpful. All our enquiries were answered immediately and we were treated as if we were friends borrowing their home. And what a home !! The photos do not show how spacious and well equipped it is. Everything you could need is provided and everything is of the highest quality and very tastefully chosen. A beautiful real Christmas tree, fully decorated, was also provided. Our family had a wonderful, memorable time and we agree with our grandson who said "I love my Christmas holiday home".

The Isle of Wight is a special place for our family and is highly recommended at any time of the year as is this splendid house, set in a lovely village but within easy distance of all the many places to visit on the island.

We will be visiting the Island again soon and will definitely book Church View again.

Excellent

We had a wonderful holiday at Church View. Property was as described in the details. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Welcome pack was provided on arrival. There were plenty of toys for our grandson to play with - both in the house and the garden and also a wind break etc for the beach. Dave and Sophie clearly want their guests to have a really good holiday and seem to have thought of everything to achieve this. One of the best cottages we've stayed in.
