The property is located in Woodland Road which is a quiet residential area and just 5 minutes' walk from the beach. Goodwood racecourse is about 20 minutes by car. Selsey, in summer, is a bustling seaside town with all the usual amenities; shops, pubs and restaurants and a golf course. Chichester golf course is about 6 miles away. Off-season the town centre is quiet but still provides for all shopping needs.


This is a charming secluded cottage with original features and modern and well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms, set in 1/3 acre of grounds and providing off-street parking. The sitting/dining room features comfortable furnishings including a large oak dining table.

The front garden has a large ornamental pond, the rear is laid mainly to lawn and contains apple trees and a BBQ patio area.

The upper floor has been converted into a self contained suite comprising flexible bed-sitting room accommodation and a large, well appointed bathroom. This can be rented seperately as bed & breakfast accommodation suitable for a couple or small family.

Beautiful English cottage, fireplaces, huge garden, sea 5 minutes walk

We have just spent a delightful long weekend here with our son and dog and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dave and Helen's cottage is quintessentially English with a lovely, interesting and secluded garden full of nooks and crannies to explore, and an outdoor fire and chiminea for chilly evenings. It is totally peaceful with nothing but the sound of seagulls to disturb you. Inside, the house is warm, inviting and cosy. It's not a fancy place, but more eclectic and fascinating with lovely little antiques, a mix of very interesting pieces of furniture and 2 fab living areas for watching TV or movies, one with a real working fireplace, the other with an electric stove fire. The bedrooms are gorgeous with quality bed linens; the claw foot bath in the newly renovated upstairs bathroom is fabulous, and the downstairs wet room has a good powerful shower, as well as a useful washer and dryer. The kitchen is spacious, light and bright with a glass roof at one end, and has everything you need - it feels like you are in someone's home rather than a rental. There are a variety of board games and card games to play and a decent selection of DVD's to watch. This cottage is actually very big, far more spacious than you would imagine from the photos and has lots of good storage in every room. The sea at Selsey is 5 minutes walk along a peaceful road.

For a night out, the Lifeboat Inn (dog friendly) is a typical seaside pub with the usual pub grub and a lot of locals, but if you want really lovely food and ambience, the Seal Inn (5 minutes walk in the centre of the village) is upscale (and allows dogs on Sunday after 6.00 pm) and the Crab and Lobster, less than 15 minutes away in Sidlesham is the best eaterie around here for miles (but is not dog friendly).

Take a trip to the Nature Reserve in Pagham, walk for miles on the sand dunes at West Wittering, go for lunch at Billy's on the Beach in Bracklesham Bay, or the Drift Café in East Wittering (superb food! and dog friendly), explore Itchenor Harbour and Bosham or just chill out in the garden here with a good book and a glass of wine.

In short, a lovely hideaway cottage with loads of space where you don't have to stand on ceremony and everything is provided whether you are there for a cosy winter weekend, or a fortnight's holiday in the summer. Go and enjoy!

Reminiscing in Selsey

On arrival the cottage was really cold. Further to that we immediately had to go shopping for essentials i.e. Dish cloths, scourers, bin bags and loo rolls. These we would have expected to be in the cottage. The small sitting/dining room with only a two seater sofa was not adequate considering it is a three bedroom property. We were glad of the upstairs tv room. However, we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend visiting the local area and going to The Festival Theatre in Chichester.

Owner's Response: We are glad that your party enjoyed Selsey and all the attractions the surrounding area has to offer, and that you found "Longacre" comfortable. We are concerned, however, that you appear not to have enjoyed the accommodation quite as much as our other guests. Thank you very much for bringing to our attention the lack of toilet paper and dish cloths. As a matter of course, we always provide these items, in addition to kitchen towels, hand towels and washing-up liquid, and make sure that the kitchen bin has a bin liner. However, at the end of this season we decided to employ a cleaning company to ready the property for each group of guests, as we were spending a good deal of time abroad. They have done an excellent job but it is probably our own fault that they had not been instructed to ensure that the above-mentioned items be provided for each new group of guests. We apologise for that and will make sure that this matter is addressed. We take on board your comments regarding the size of the dining/sitting room compared to the size of your party. A good deal of our guests choose to eat in the kitchen/diner and there is the option of using the two armchairs and bringing down the large floor-cushions from the upstairs TV room to augment that space. However, as we deal with many families, it is generally found that the children or young adults tend to use the upstairs "Big screen" room whilst the "Oldies" (that's us!) cosy up by the log fire downstairs. Which brings me to your first point. We are sorry that you found the house to be cold on arrival. This was because it had been unoccupied for the previous week and, naturally, the central heating had been turned off in order to conserve energy. However, we do find that the rooms heat up very quickly once the CH is activated and we ensure that, during winter months, there is sufficient fuel for the open fireplace to at least "get you started". Consequently, we do hope that this discomfort did not last long. And in future we will endeavour to make arrangements for the heating to be turned on in advance for future winter and autumn guests who may arrive while we are away.

Lovely property for all ages and abilities.

We took my elderly parents (one with limited mobility) as well as my two young children, away for October 1/2 term. The children absolutely loved the den upstairs, giving them their own space away from the adults (allowing them to play) the large TV and bathroom was an added bonus. Having an open fire of an evening was lovely and allowed us to all spend quality time together as a family. The BBQ was also a hit with us of an evening. As the downstairs of the property had two bedrooms and shower room, it meant that my father did not have to worry about managing stairs. The beach is a short walk away as is the town centre which meant my father was able to join us on his mobility scooter. Would recommend for all ages and those with limited mobility and hope to be using the property again soon.

Cosy and well-equipped home-from-home

Great property for us (couple) and our two dogs. It genuinely felt like being at our own home in a different location! Super comfy beds, lovely kitchen with all mod cons, choice of living rooms and fantastic safe garden for the dogs (and us!). Beach is an easy couple of minutes walk away, shops also within walking distance. We would love to come back for longer next time!
