Secluded within it's own orchard with the sound of birdsong, croaking of frogs in the mill pond, scent of wild herbs and views southwards down the valley to the nearby vineyards and rolling hills of Burgundy.
The massive medieval walls above of Flavigny- where the film "Chocolat" was shot - will draw you in to discover artists shops, restaurants and the ancient abbey where they still make the famous aniseed pastilles.
This stunning 2 bedroom cottage of exceptional charm, entirely renovated to an exacting modern standard with considerable flair, will seduce you with it's atmospheric feeling of peace and contentement.
The cottage is on 3 levels ; the attic twin bedroom has an old beamed ceiling with a roof window making it light and airy. There is a seperate toilet and washbasin making it ideal for children or adolescents.
On the middle level there is a fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances, eating area and sofa.
On the lower level, that can be accessed by the oak ladder or by going outside, there is the double bedroom, an ensuite shower, toilet and washbasin and double doors that lead out to the terrace and garden.
The garden has several mature fruit trees, help yourselves to make apple or cherry tarts, everything you need can be found in the house.
There is a bar b que for hot summer days, sun lougers and a good selection of deck furniture. If you are looking to sunbathe or read a book in the shade you will find plenty of choice in the garden, pots of flowers and bird watching could also inspire you to paint....

Amazing stay in Flavigny
About the Owner
Guestbook comments from the owner
The house is out of sight of other properties and lying in the valley below the un spoilt hilltop village of Flavigny (shop, church, Carolingian crypt, ramparts)
Accommodation is small and favours the sprightly, being 3 single rooms vertically ordered and joined by steep internal stairs (or you walk around externally). Fun though, and it allows fir 2 patios for relaxing and taking meals. Everything works well, even if the Wifi is unsurprisingly prone to cut out, and the building has been refurbished with quality finishes and good taste.
An ideal place from which to visit abbeys, chateaux, lovely villages and small towns plus Dijon and Beaune are all amid glorious countryside and the usual half-empty french roads.
Louise made us feel very welcome and we'd definitely recommend this property.

Amazing stay in Flavigny
Can't say enough about Louise's place in Flavigny, truly a dream getaway. Stayed for two nights and didn't want to leave! Communication from Louise was timely and clear. As some of the other reviews have mentioned we opted for a meal prepared by Louise on the first night...delicious! The pictures hardly do it justice and only a short walk up the hill to quaint village of Flavigny. This is French country perfection! Would love to visit again!
Beautiful Burgundy cottage
My partner and I (plus our small dog) enjoyed a fantastic week at this beautiful cottage in Flavigny sur Ozerain. Owner Louise was away on holiday herself during our stay, but all communication before and during was great, and her friend came round at a mutually agreed time to check all was well. We opted for the pre-prepared homemade Burgundian meal on our first night, which was left in the fridge for us on arrival and was lovely after a long day of travelling. The
cottage is full of character and very well-equipped and clean. It is situated in a very peaceful location and it's an easy walk up to the village. We were very lucky with the weather (heatwave!) but the master bedroom, being on the ground floor, stayed lovely and cool. The area is beautiful and there's loads to do. The local vineyard down the road produces lovely wine and is very friendly. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
This is a wonderful cottage, cleverly modernised across 3 floors (although as a couple we only used the lower two), beautifully situated only minutes walk from the lovely village of Flavigny sur Ozerain yet in a private secluded spot.
It is very well equipped and was perfectly clean on arrival (something we haven't always found in French gites). The area is gorgeous, there are numerous chateaux within easy driving distance and Beaune and Dijon are only about an hour away.
Communication with Louise was problem free and the payment process and arrival and departure arrangements were smooth.
The only possible wrinkle is that there are steep stairs between the three floors, which whilst no problem for most people could be problematic for some older or less mobile guests. it is worth noting that external access is available to the ground and first floors, so those stairs can be avoided if you wish.
If you want to stay in this area (and frankly why wouldn't you!), then this cottage is about as near perfect as you'll find.
Pure relaxation in a charming little cottage
We spent a wonderful week in the little cottage. The house is very quiet in a valley with a large garden and a great view. Louise, the nice owner, cooked us a fabulous typical burgundian meal the first evening. We enjoyed it very much.
You can relax there really well and it´s comfortably furnished.
Flavigny is a small charming village with a rustic restaurant "La Grange" which we can highly recommend, also a visit in the church and the Anis factory with the shop...
You can do many tours around, visit the museum in Alesia, cycling along the Canal de Bourgogne, visit the Abbaye de Fontenay...
The cottage is beautifully restored. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need. Louise was fabulous - provided a beautiful home cooked meal for our first evening! Well positioned - easy walk up to the village. We would definitely recommend staying here 10/10!!
Jolie maison bourguignonne
